Under the Sea: Mission start

After fleeing the strange shapes in the sky the voidtreckers are perhaps not looking forward to yet another mission and indeed the first few days of Fiddlesticks go by without any strange dreams, no warning that another mission might be nigh. Yet on the morning of day five their SCA's will glow with the colours of the void and a holographic message will appear.

Preperations

The dressing room is open once again, though the clothes this time are simple in choice. A wet suit for each void trecker as well as a pair of flippers, a helmet and a breathing pack. It at least has instructions and there will be a little bit of time for them to figure out how to use them. Apart from that there are some waterproof packs for supplies to be packed in.

They will have a couple of hours to get ready for their mission.

Arrival: Blue and Red

"We are now approaching world #7625000129523. Drop order is Red and Blue, Purple then Orange. Red and Blue team to doors. Arrival in world #7625000129523 in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and lurches as they exit the void, the view from the window goes from the ever shifting void to a beautiful deep blue sky. They fly through the air and swoop down to land on a sandy beach. The doors open allowing those who are taking part in the Blue and Red missions to debark. The doors close and the train swoops up into the air.

The beach stretches from one side to the other, in the distance as the beach turns into sloping green hills they can see a village. Beyond that there is a jungle. Any red team who check their SCA will see four points, the rock pools.

The villagers have noticed the huge train sweeping down onto their island and so contact is made quickly. They will be quite accepting of the help and explain the situation. They will help any of red team to the rockpools if asked.

Red

The rockpools are built up and indeed made so the water will reach a persons waist if they stand in them. The water is cold but not overly so. When the water shoots up anyone in them will shoot up also.

They will find themselves in a vortex of water, with anyone else who enters that rockpool. The water itself seems to be fighting them, tendrils of water reaching out of the whirlpool to try and drag them further into the chaos. It takes a whole lot of willpower to stay in the centre, the water can be fought with weapons, even with fists. They feel as if they are falling or flying, perhaps both. Surrounded by the pure chaos of the ocean.

Blue

Hopefully they spend the day helping with preparations because when night falls the monsters emerge from the sea. Terrifying twisted creatures. The villagers only have simple weapons but will tell them that fire is helpful against these water creatures.

Hold off the monsters and keep the people safe.

Purple

The doors close and the train flies off into the sky, flying over the island to the other side where it lands on a rocky bay, near tall towering cliffs.

"Purple team to doors." The doors open, allowing the purple team to disembark before flying off once again.

In the cliff face there is a large cave entrance, over the entrance there are symbols, translated by their SCA's. Clear mind, clear heart. Come those who seek to serve.

There are six people stood by the entrance, looking quite surprised at the new arrivals. One, a woman with silver hair recovers enough to speak first. "Ah. Void warriors. We are honoured by your help."

Once introductions are made the spiritual leaders will happily accept the escort and their adventure can begin.

Orange

They fly up and out across the ocean, a longer flight than before but eventually they descend and there is a slight juddering before they land, floating on the ocean.

"Orange team disembark, please use luggage or dressing carriage doors only."

They will step out onto an inflated platform that streches around the train. Down below are the depths of the water and their SCA's show them at the point of Bui. It is below them so all they need to is dive.

The dive takes a while, and depends on their swimming ability but hopefully with a bit of teamwork they arrive at the silent city of Bui.

Who knows what names in Sonic are anyways. It's silly. Tails is a nickname. Is Sonic? It used to be. But I digress.

"I get you." Whisper isn't much of a joker, although she's trying to keep things... light. Distracting. "Sounds like we've got a few... shiny people."

Ignis hesitated, wondering why the boy seemed to simply be staring. Why was he so nervous? So after a moment he was about to withdraw his hand but then Inigo took it. The hand in his shook and didn't feel like a strong grip so green eyes looked over at the boy with concern.

He can't suppress a small laugh and his face turned a bit red. No one's ever called him anything like that or even remotely close to it. "Ignis will do just fine." And the advisor was more than sure he would laugh about this later as he let go of the hand in his.

"Tell me, what sparks your interest in joining the Blue team?" The advisor was trying to put this kid at ease by talking about anything else other than why the poor warrior seemed so shy or nervous or both.

If only she was a little better at properly expressing affection or even friendship.. Then it might be more clear that 'dealing with me' at least doesn't mean there will be any violence involved. But alas, Alice just had to go ahead and make it sound terrifying instead, because she's so bad with these social things.

At least she seems a little calmer when he says that much. She folds her arms across her chest.

"I'd hope so." Let's keep those odds to zero. Though she's pretty sure that's impossible when Allen is involved. "All we have to do is escort some people, right? Going off on your own to do something stupid wouldn't make much sense then."

See, now this is such a better subject matter. No getting laughed at, no awkward subjects! Maybe this is Inigo's second chance at interacting with Tidus, handed down from the heavens by the Divine Dragon herself. That's got to be it.

"Yes." Hence why he seems so much less on edge as he speaks. As if might just actually be capable of talking like a normal person! "Although my experiences have been more of the 'stabbing things enough until they go down' variety. I'm not much of a magic user."

Although from what he's heard, that might actually be a good thing here..? Who knows. They'll see when combat actually happens.

"The villagers didn't seem all that well equipped though, so surely the monsters just seem that intimidating to them since they haven't seen worse. I mean, how bad could it be?"

"Yeah, see?" Tidus can get down with someone following the logic of absolute confidence = absolute victory! It's certainly put a spring to his mood to have Inigo be agreeable. "No one wants a face full of claw no matter how much experience they have, but if we both act smart, we'll get through it. I'll watch your back, and you can watch mine!"

And maybe they can try and figure out if there's any more details to go over, but before that: "I'm Tidus by the way. I don't think we exchanged names before. Buuut, it feels like forever since that day," he admits sheepishly.

It's totally possible he just forgot...!

Really... What are you? Twelve? Actua... right, he heard this kind of talk before and from someone way older than Duo. Better to let the kid have his fun. They all are going to look absolutely ludicrous in this anyway.

He puts the parts of the diving apparatus away with a sigh.

"I think I'll manage."

It's still stupid and way too cumbersome. Who even designed this thing?

Rock pools

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't see how otherwise we could check what's there eating all those people."

Yes, that means risking getting eaten themselves. Fëanor is hardly ecstatic about the process himself. Unfortunately, given how this world is almost mute to him and how little the natives know about what is happening here. It really is the only way.

"It's not even a proper geyser."

Because proper terminology makes all the difference, doesn't it?
tinkerheart: (smith)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Geysers, yes."

That's all he has time to say before there's gurgling from the pool again. The water foams as if boiling, and shoots up. That's not it. It is not boiling, he checked. Too cold. Too low. No warning. No sign. Nothing.

Fëanor shakes his head. "This doesn't make any sense."
tinkerheart: (smile)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Fëanor did indeed struggle. Mainly because he thinks this whole setup is stupid. It doesn't mean he'd complain to her about it.

"Of course not, sweetheart. Let me see this."

It's actually pretty easy when you know how to assemble the thing. And most importantly, you are not trying to do it your way.

"There," he says returning the gear to her. "Just remember this tube should go over your arm not under."
tinkerheart: (hm)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Words were spoken in his vicinity. That he noticed. That and nothing else. At least it got his, if a bit annoyed, attention. He looks up ready to express his discontent but more then the question it startles him who's asking.

"No. Yes. Huh? Why do you ask?"

Fëanor tilts his head. Something is off.

"What's wrong with your arm?"
tinkerheart: (hm)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Fëanor nods. Maybe they risk getting eaten but at least they are in no danger of getting lost in the depths.

"It might," he admits then grins back. "Or we might get a chance to try some underwater fishing."

Given how sparse with information the mission message was, it could be anything. There's not even enough to warrant a guess.
tinkerheart: (I let the world burn)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-11 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's the plan, isn't it?"

Fëanor is wearing his red wetsuit and keeps the diving equipment ready. That he's not jumping in yet is not out of hesitation. He wants to assess the frequency of geyser eruptions first.

"How about you? Scared you won't be able to deal with whatever has made the hapless peasants so terrified?"

In truth, it could be anything but that's part of the fun of exploring. You never know.

[personal profile] bethereprompto 2020-05-11 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompto listened, knowing he wasn't the one the other fellow was after. However, he watched the exchange and gave a thumbs up and an encouraging smile when Iggy answered in his 'oh so Iggy' way.

"Way to impress him, man! You wouldn't happen to like the color black, would ya?" He asked, giving Iggy a playfully mischievous grin. He was so poaching this guy for the black team when they got back! He didn't think Iggy would actually care, especially since the guy was obviously wearing purple not blue. "What's your name?"
bethereprompto: (Worried)

[personal profile] bethereprompto 2020-05-11 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompto wasn't feeling so great. He kept looking at the sandbags with confusion as it seemed they were taking more out of him than they should've. What was wrong? He would go to the beach, use the scope on his rifle to scan the ocean, fill a bag with sand, trudge back here. He whined about it back home, but he'd pushed the Regalia for miles with his friends before and it had been much heavier than these bags. His shoulders were more slumped and fatigue starting to touch his face. That mixed with worry, he wasn't doing a very good job of hiding it.

So in an uncharacteristically unenthusiastic way, Prompto smiled at Inigo and nodded, though it wasn't entirely true. "Yeah I'll be.." And the other boy wasn't paying attention to him anymore. Okay, that was pretty cute. He followed Inigo's gaze to the silvery haired boy and his eyebrows rose in surprise. "Oh hey! You're the guy who talked to me on the ICP weren't you?"

"Clean up its act?" Glorfindel asked. He wasn't surprised the balrogs had run from that many angry red-headed elves. "We could extinguish evil!"

"Do you really think we could? We trounced it pretty hard. What if it holds a grudge? It felt like it had the spirit of a Feanorean...I don't know if you've heard," he leaned in and lowered his voice, "but they can be pretty stubborn." He leaned back, nodding, his eyes wide to show sincerity.

Oh--so that was a yes? Tidus's eyes raise in surprise from the response, expecting more of--something, admittedly. Hoping, maybe? But it's short-lived, a momentary feeling: approving of any extra help pretty much answers the most important question, doesn't it? So the look starts to settle, before the other guy pipes in--congratulating Tidus like he aced a job interview, or something. And with such a contrasting energy next to the Mr. Glasses, too!

But geez, that's totally how it sounded, huh? Talk about embarrassing...!

"Er," Tidus lets out somewhere as the blond first starts to speak, before the request for his name. Though the mention of black catches his interest, a curious look drawing on his face. Oh, was this...?

"Tidus," he offers. "You talking about Black Team? ...Are you the guy behind that?"

What was the name again? Yuf? Yoof?

Glorfindel only wears the loincloth because seeing him naked bothers some people, so he's not phased. Instead he grabs a container of the talc and comes back. Even in a wet suit, he makes no noise.

"Do you need help applying it? Or should we just shake it into the suit and see if that's enough?"

The light disappears in a flash, and he blinks a few times but he adjusts quickly. Pupils dilate and the world lights, in a sense, shades of grey and contrast. Clarity again.

"I'm not a sir," he grumbles. "Geralt is fine." Not a sir, Witchers don't get that luxury, at least not with any seriousness. The two are out, by themselves, with who knows what, so clearly he's responsible. The code dictates it, at least in part, even if it's nothing more than a framework cobbled together over decades. The fear in Joss' voice solidifies the impulse, even if he grumbles about it.

"If you need the light you can keep it on, just don't shine it in my face," he adds, graveled voice trying to pitch a little kinder. "I can see in the dark but not if you blind me."

Lea | Blue Team | OTA

[personal profile] hotheadwarmheart 2020-05-12 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Preparations

Lea stared at the blue wet suit with matching flippers in bemusement. And continued to do so for a long moment, as if his staring would magically turn it into something else. When that failed to occur, he shook his head with an irritated sigh. "Well forget that," he said. "No way am I gonna try fighting on a beach in a rubber suit and swim fins."

Those waterproof backpacks looked promising though. He picked one up to examine it, both to check if it had any extra pockets and to see if there was anything already in it. Even if not, it should be big enough to carry what each of them would need...

Blue Team/Red Team-Arrival/Day

Stepping out of the train onto the beach, Lea took a deep breath and stretched. "Ah... man, it's good to get some fresh air," he said. "That train can get kinda cramped."

He then took a good look around them. The world seemed pretty low tech from what he could see, but still pleasant. "Looks like a nice place. Guess it's our job to make sure it stays that way." Another world, another mission. Just like old times.

In any case it wasn't long before the locals turned up. Lea greeted them with a friendly smile and listened as they explained the situation, smiling a bit when he was informed that fire was helpful against the creatures. "Fire, hmm?", he said. "Well lucky for you, fire is my specialty." And indeed his assistance with the preparations largely consisted of fire related things; helping to set up bonfires, testing various substances to see what would make for good torches, even helping the locals make a type of primitive Molotov cocktail out of small pottery jars filled with some type cooking oil. There were only a few of the latter, as there was only so much old pottery and oil that could be spared, but anything hit with one of them wouldn't soon forget it.

Lea was quite willing to help out anyone else who looked like they needed it though, whether their needs were fire-related or not.

Blue Team/Red Team- Early night, beach near rock pools

Despite the explanations he'd gotten from the locals, he wasn't sure what exactly was so special about the rock pools. But they were clearly important to the people here, and thus he'd do is best to keep any icky monsters away from them. It had been quiet so far, but not peaceful. The air felt thick with tension, as if the island was holding its breath, waiting for the battle to begin.

And then abruptly that tension was broken, as a dark shape broke the ocean's surface, bursting out of the water with a huge splash and a gurgling snarl. Lea couldn't make out its exact shape, but he caught flashes of red eyes and what looked like tentacles. "Alright," he said, summoning his Keyblade, its translucent blade a glowing orange beacon in the dim light. "Let's do this..."

Blue Team- Later night, beach near village

As the night had passed, Lea had made his way down the beach, helping wherever he could. His fire magic had proved particularly useful, but the same could not be said of his Keyblade; normally in a situation like this, he'd keep it out all the time, but that had quickly proved too draining. And his chakrams were no better in terms of draining his strength. So the battle became a balancing act, fighting both the creatures and this unusual fatigue, and relying more on magic than his weapons when the latter became too tiring. He would definitely need some solid sleep after this mission...

He sighed and continued his patrol, keeping an eye on both the ocean and the village. A bit more on the ocean, since that was where their targets were coming from, but if any of them had gotten past the patrols, the village might need help too.
