Under the Sea: Mission start

After fleeing the strange shapes in the sky the voidtreckers are perhaps not looking forward to yet another mission and indeed the first few days of Fiddlesticks go by without any strange dreams, no warning that another mission might be nigh. Yet on the morning of day five their SCA's will glow with the colours of the void and a holographic message will appear.

Preperations

The dressing room is open once again, though the clothes this time are simple in choice. A wet suit for each void trecker as well as a pair of flippers, a helmet and a breathing pack. It at least has instructions and there will be a little bit of time for them to figure out how to use them. Apart from that there are some waterproof packs for supplies to be packed in.

They will have a couple of hours to get ready for their mission.

Arrival: Blue and Red

"We are now approaching world #7625000129523. Drop order is Red and Blue, Purple then Orange. Red and Blue team to doors. Arrival in world #7625000129523 in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and lurches as they exit the void, the view from the window goes from the ever shifting void to a beautiful deep blue sky. They fly through the air and swoop down to land on a sandy beach. The doors open allowing those who are taking part in the Blue and Red missions to debark. The doors close and the train swoops up into the air.

The beach stretches from one side to the other, in the distance as the beach turns into sloping green hills they can see a village. Beyond that there is a jungle. Any red team who check their SCA will see four points, the rock pools.

The villagers have noticed the huge train sweeping down onto their island and so contact is made quickly. They will be quite accepting of the help and explain the situation. They will help any of red team to the rockpools if asked.

Red

The rockpools are built up and indeed made so the water will reach a persons waist if they stand in them. The water is cold but not overly so. When the water shoots up anyone in them will shoot up also.

They will find themselves in a vortex of water, with anyone else who enters that rockpool. The water itself seems to be fighting them, tendrils of water reaching out of the whirlpool to try and drag them further into the chaos. It takes a whole lot of willpower to stay in the centre, the water can be fought with weapons, even with fists. They feel as if they are falling or flying, perhaps both. Surrounded by the pure chaos of the ocean.

Blue

Hopefully they spend the day helping with preparations because when night falls the monsters emerge from the sea. Terrifying twisted creatures. The villagers only have simple weapons but will tell them that fire is helpful against these water creatures.

Hold off the monsters and keep the people safe.

Purple

The doors close and the train flies off into the sky, flying over the island to the other side where it lands on a rocky bay, near tall towering cliffs.

"Purple team to doors." The doors open, allowing the purple team to disembark before flying off once again.

In the cliff face there is a large cave entrance, over the entrance there are symbols, translated by their SCA's. Clear mind, clear heart. Come those who seek to serve.

There are six people stood by the entrance, looking quite surprised at the new arrivals. One, a woman with silver hair recovers enough to speak first. "Ah. Void warriors. We are honoured by your help."

Once introductions are made the spiritual leaders will happily accept the escort and their adventure can begin.

Orange

They fly up and out across the ocean, a longer flight than before but eventually they descend and there is a slight juddering before they land, floating on the ocean.

"Orange team disembark, please use luggage or dressing carriage doors only."

They will step out onto an inflated platform that streches around the train. Down below are the depths of the water and their SCA's show them at the point of Bui. It is below them so all they need to is dive.

The dive takes a while, and depends on their swimming ability but hopefully with a bit of teamwork they arrive at the silent city of Bui.

Alright, it wasn't every day you were saved by a mysterious hooded figure, but Dyme was going to take help where he could get it, no complaints, no questions. He was also totally not leaving this person to fight on their own, even if they were clearly way better at it than Dyme was.

Besides that, the torch seemed to be helping a lot, despite his lack of fighting knowledge. He could still swing, and he had a decent amount of muscle, so. He was just disappointed that when he smacked the creature with the torch, the whole thing didn't go up in flames. Figured--it was still wet from the ocean. He'd probably have to hold the torch up to it for a while and uh, that wasn't going to happen right now.

In fact, it was all he could do to dive out of the way when the monster took a swing at him, almost getting a mouth full of sand in the process. Apparently, he'd just made it angry, even if it didn't come at him again, probably because he still had the torch nearby.

Dyme, being bland and normal, didn't sense a thing, but he was grateful for the help. He knew no one had to help him, and he probably would've eventually got the zipper on his own after some awkward flailing about to grab it, but the fact that someone actually did help made him glad.

"Thanks," he said, smiling. "I had it at first, then it just kinda slipped outta my hand." He didn't know how people were supposed to do this on their own. Maybe most people were just better coordinated than him.

"Yeah, I know." He'd been thinking the same thing himself. "I'm pretty good at running, though." It was half joking, half serious. "Seriously though, it's better than trying to swim. I might drown."

Taking a deep breath, he considered things for a moment. "I figure...that if I can still do something to help, and not get anyone hurt, then it's worth the risk. Like, I can help keep an eye out for things, warn others about them." And like he'd said, he was willing to take that risk. He might change his mind when actually faced with a sea monster, but.

[Hey, a spear was definitely better than nothing, and Dyme was relieved to see someone with an actual weapon. Not that a torch wasn't a weapon, too, it just felt like you had to get a little more, uh, up close and personal with it than he would've liked.]

Fun? I'm not sure this is fun. But I'll appreciate any help I can get.

"So have I. She can really pack it away." Trowa laughed as well, before spitting out some of his hair. "I really should have trimmed my hair before this."

He knew if they did, it wasn't anything bad. He often talked about Noct to Gladio or Gladio to Noct or Iggy about either of them because they were never far from his mind. He was usually gushing about some new cute thing he noticed or something along those lines. Obviously, not the same thing as Noct was worried about here.

He nodded. "I know, you're right. Why is it always harder to forgive yourself than other people?" He gave Noct a knowing grin. "I know someone I know and love has the same problem."

It's not an obvious power; not without Newtype weapons to control, anyways. Madoka doesn't have the training to really notice her reacting to danger a fraction of a second before anyone could with just normal human senses.

"...if I stay back, the two of you should keep fighting," she insists, despite wanting to hog Madoka's attention. "W-we can't take everyone out just for me."

"Yours... um, at least," she responds awkwardly. Ple Two is just starting to grow into that at all - while Minako is a bit older.

Prompto started to fall back, moving toward the barricade but he stopped when he saw Ignis' movements. Something was off about them. It was a little more sluggish than normal. He was usually so good about listening to any orders from Iggy but he couldn't bring himself to leave the area with all of these monsters and Ignis being alone.

"I can't! There's too many for you." He shot at the slime lobster again. Narrowing his eyes, he focused on the exact same spot he'd shot before. This time the bullet sank deep enough to penetrate through the lobster's exoskeleton and it roared in pain. It staggered back only to be replaced by some creature with a shark for a head- what the hell?

"We should've set up an alarm!"

For that last part, he gets a smirk in response. Not really the save the day kind of person? Well, he's not alone on that one.

"It might be hard to get an answer to that particular question."

Fëanor pauses to watch the water shoot up and then fall down.

"It's sad that those people have vanished. It would be even more sad if they can't be brought back," he continues in the same casual tone. "I am more interested in what is the cause of all those disappearances."
tinkerheart: (minë)

Shhhh... I didn't even notice ;)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-13 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people might argue with that particular line of reasoning. But the Noldor are not some people, and especially Finwëans.

"I don't think we had ever caught a shark. I wonder if it's tasty. " Most likely not. "It would surely consider us tasty."

Fëanor is of the opinion that the train - or rather people behind it - doesn't care. There has yet to occur a situation that would change his mind about that.

"You're welcome."

That's why he will always help her. Not very often anyone is this enthusiastic about things he does. Look, a genius always likes to be appreciated. No matter how small a task.

"That's right. Let's hope you won't need it but it's always better to be prepared beforehand."
tinkerheart: (are you sure)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-13 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
He puts an arm around her shoulder and smiles, if a little absent-mindedly, most of his attention still on the water column that appears as if driven by some kind of internal clock. Not all though.

"If it were a geyser it should be boiling hot, and yet it is not. This is some other phenomenon." That he knows nothing about and that is both exciting and annoying. "The villagers have said it did erupt in the past but it was a rare occurrence and a time to celebrate. Yet nobody vanished here until now."

So whatever processes steered those eruptions in the past, they were disrupted.

"I don't see any other way than to unravel this mystery ourselves."

This whole affair is one of the strangest missions so far but he won't believe she's not even a little curious.

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-13 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Fëanor wouldn't ask for help even if he needed it. Not in a thousand years would he do that... He is, however, quite interested if the unfortunate design is just a train thing, or is it more common.

"Have you operated similar equipment in the past?"

tinkerheart: (are you sure)

[personal profile] tinkerheart 2020-05-13 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"You won't get burned, no." Theoretically. Fëanor would love to know what law governs water's strange behavior here. "If this indeed turned into some kind of portal you may discover where it leads."

The last part is most likely lost on Duo who waits only for the pool to stir again and runs straight into it. There are other dangers than simply temperature but Fëanor can understand the choice to ignore them and simply rush in. To hell with consequences.

Noct sobered up for a moment. Was that directed at him. "Different. It's different." Noct was the cause of a lot of problems that didn't chalk up to just mistakes. Still, Prompto's words were sweet. "But you'll be okay. You're smart and intuitive. Just follow your gut."

He really is so stubborn. They've already had the bulk of this conversation. He's not wrong in his previous point that there's no guarantee that the train is safer -- even though she would certainly hope it was.

She also knows him well enough to know that he'll try to follow as soon as she has her back turned. So while it goes against every instinct she has, in this case it's perhaps better to let him come and make sure that she can keep an eye on him.

Blowing out a breath, she eyes him back. "You have to stay close, then. That's a requirement."

"Oh." Ran blinks fast, both at the unexpected prim tone and the girl's declaration that she's a courtesan -- which is not something that most in her world would announce. It takes her a moment to decide how to respond. "What will you do instead?"

The tone is not judgmental; it's genuine curiosity.

With a yelp, he stepped back a little. Not because the chakram had actually come anywhere close to him, but just because he hadn't been expecting it. He held the torch in both hands kind of like he was planning on using it like a baseball bat, and honestly, maybe he was. Maybe it would make the monster think twice. Maybe not as well that chakram did, though.

"I would love a hand," he said. "Especially since, uh, I'm not...the best fighter." But he would still do his best.

He takes a moment to sort through his memories and figure out what Kaito was referring to.

"Oh, that incident. You think it will be a problem here?"

This was another planet. They had no idea at this point what kinds of creatures would inhabit an ocean here.

But he nods. "Ran is keeping a close eye on me right now, but if I get the chance I'll watch for her."

"I will," he promises. "I'll follow right after you when we dive."

This was her first mission, after all. And the best place to protect her from was right by her side.

When his daughter leans against him, Ignis can only smile. It's nice to have this sort of affection going on and he's more than aware stolen moments like this will be brief. As she hesitates, he can only guess the topic might be hard for her to talk about, but he's patient and waits quietly, slipping an arm around her side to keep her close.

The news however has him smiling. Well it was about time even if she was a bit young. He wouldn't be a hypocrite though, because he'd harboured secret feelings for Noct since he was about Madoka's age. Come to find out though that his feelings had in fact been reciprocated all that time as well. So the smile was still in place as he looked down at her.

"So tell me, who's the lucky person?"

Tony was going to be unhappy.

"A famous writer in my world said this once. It is a capital mistake to theorize without evidence. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. And I think that that is still true here."

He shakes his head.

"There's another person from my world here now. I have to stay until she gets here."

Especially after having to argue most of the previous day for permission to come along on this mission. Having to deal with being treated as a small child after so many months of independence was even more frustrating than he remembered.
