Onward: Purple

The second night of their trek is interrupted by the shaking of the ground. It only lasts a few moments and all the tunnels hold, but it is enough to be a frightening experience.

And it seems to have agitated the monsters. A wave of crabs attack not long after the shaking has stopped, emerging from the rocks around them.

They are close to one of the sandbanks and as they emerge, for a moment out of the caves they will find darkened skies and choppy seas. There is a feeling of a storm approaching. It is cooler then it has been.

But that is the least of their problems. As they cross the sandbank, wading in the water a giant squid attacks. Tentacles reaching out of the sea, to wrap around limbs and pull the voidtreckers and those they are escorting off the sandbank and into the ocean depths.

The tentacles at least seem to withdraw if damaged enough, hopefully they can be fought off before anyone drowns.

"Okay..." he figured most people would be very capable of figuring that out, but just in case Allen knew it was best he should head off.

"Will you be okay handling this many alone?"

Glorfindel laughed as he looked around the cave. "How could I consider myself alone with my Team here?"

"But I can take these, I think," he said, using both spears to flip another crab. "If you prefer to stay and help, I welcome that as well. I'm sure I'm not the only one who figured this out."

Allen always had that conflicting moment. He should go and warn others or give them the help as well from up here, but at the same time he always found he couldn't just leave someone by themselves just in case.

But the other was right in the sense that the rest of the team might have figured it out at this point. But he knew he had to think fast because otherwise who knows what would happen. So he soon dropped from the ceiling in order to slam his claw down on a crab he had been right above. That seemed to do the trick.

"I'll stay here until numbers go down. If they go down."

"Nice!" Glorfindel said with an admiring smile. He looked around at all the members of their team, now easily visible, fighting off crabs.

"There might be something summoning them here to this place, but I do not believe anything is magically generating them. So there has to be an end to them...eventually. As long as we keep moving forward, we should make it," he said determinedly.

"That would mean there is a magic source if there is one, but I haven't seen anything." He yelled dealing with another crab that was heading his way, flipping it over with ease.

"Do you think it would be further ahead?"

"It may not be localized to this place," Glorfindel said. "I wonder if the rest of the island is being attacked too."

"But, if we do find the source and destroy it...that would be good, right?"

"Always possible, but we have no way of knowing that."

He nodded slightly, it would be good, but it would mean finding out where that source was in the first place and that required them having to deal with what was in front of them. "I get the feeling we'll find out when he get the people to our destination."

"I sincerely hope so," Glorfindel said. "It would definitely make the return trip a lot easier."

"First though, let's get them there, right?"

He nodded, he trusted those that were actually closer to the people were doing their best to defend them. Allen knew that their job was to just deal with the crabs that were ahead of them, which he felt was easy enough.

Grabbing a couple crabs using his cowl, using it to wrap around their claws he pulled one in to knock them over before using his claw to deal with the other.

Once he had done that he looked over to see how many there were and he could tell that the number was big enough that he just couldn't count them. He knew overall this was going to take a long time.

"Just like fighting orcs, you just have to pace yourself," Glorfindel said with a smile. "I'm very glad we have a good team. Makes me rather proud to be Purple, which is not a statement I have ever said in the past." This was said over the course of knocking three different crabs back. The trick was to keep them out of the forward path, which added a level of difficulty.

"I don't actually know what orcs are." Akuma yes, Heartless, yes. Orcs, no. Completely different. But pacing oneself did however make sense considering the sheer number, but he knew the difference between them and Akuma is Akuma were probably a lot more deadly and pacing might not necessarily always work.

But he was soon up in the air and crashing down with force onto the shell of the nearest unexpecting crab.

"Once upon a time, the original orcs were elves who were captured by the Dark Lord and tortured and twisted until they forgot who they were and became simple tools for his use. It is a mercy to kill them so their souls can find their way home again," Glorfindel said.

"Nice hit!" He did a quick step up the cave wall to come down behind one and flip it over onto its back.

"I see...Though I kind of wish that there had been another way to save them than just death." Says the guy who believes in saving through other means for those who are human or living while destroying Akuma whose souls were locked up.

If there was a way, Allen would have been the one to use a better method. With the crabs he is dealing with them, but trying his best to avoid actually killing them.

"thanks, but I think there are more further down, so I am going to go on ahead."

"I agree. We tried. Desperately. But in the end, it was clear that sending them to the Halls was the only way." Glorfindel was quite sad, as he did know one or two of the affected elves, and their families.

"All right. We'll be right behind you," he said.
