Onward: Orange

On the second night those still on the train may be woken by rough seas, the train lurching and rolling in the waves.

If they manage to sleep through the choppy waters they might instead be woken by the voice over the ICPs. "Orange team to doors. Orange team to doors."

Those that head the instruction and exit out of the luggage carriage or dressing room doors will be met with a strange sight.

The sea is glowing. Or at least part of the sea. Underneath them, from where Bui lies there is a light that shines upwards through the dark water, rippling over the water, breaking into specks of light in the waves.

It seems it is time for another investigation.

Night Dive

The water is even colder at night, the water eerie as they make the dive down to the city. The whole city is lit up, light reflecting off shells and coral.

The light seems to be coming from the far palace. Outside the palace there is a sigil, in the shape of a shell, glowing brightly. It had not been there before, nothing to suggest there had been anything special about that patch of ground. Yet it glows now.

Crabs

The city of Bui, until now, has been peaceful, eerily empty even. But as they investigate they will find a different problem. Some of the giant crabs have found their way to the city. Not overwhelming numbers, but enough to be a problem, especially as their aim seems to be attacking the sleeping citizens.

On the Train

For those who remain on the train dawn brings it's own problems. Dawn breaks into darkness, the sun barely penetrating. Shadows are deep and the temperature cooler. It is not too dark to see, more like an endless twilight.

The seas remain rough and choppy, like a storm is brewing.

"Whoohoo!" exclaimed Curufin, "Now that is ONE IMPRESSIVE SWORD!" It's not the kind Curufin would choose to wield, but than, everybody was different.

"No monster is going to try climbing up the platform if it sees you with that thing! The train is definitely safe from monsters now." He grinned at Gladio. "So, what else have you got?"

Now that... was an interesting reaction. Gladio chuckled and let the sword go. Only to replace it with another, a very long katana.

"Mainly great swords like the first. But this one, the Genji Blade... this is special." And hard earned.

Curufin laughed too. And then he admired the second blade, the extremely long katana. "Another impressive weapon. This one's special to you? Wouldn't like to get in the way of that thing!"

"Hard won, this sword." Gladio lifted it slightly, there was a strangely fond look to his expression. "It belonged to a man I respect, many years ago he lost it in a trial of strength. He survived where many didn't, but he lost. I took the same trial just before I arrived on the train. I won. This sword was my reward for winning." And he'd had Cor's blessing to keep it, even though Gladio had offered it back.

"A good sword is a treasure beyond compare," said Curufin, nodding. "Especially one that cost you something to acquire. And it's really good you have both swords here on the Voidtrecker. You might need them on this mission, but even if you don't, you're bound to need them on some future mission."

In a sparkle of blue particles the sword vanished and Gladio nodded his agreement. "They'll come in handy one way or another." He still wasn't sure if he would be going on the mission at all. He wanted to, but there was a part of him that still felt unsettled. Rattled after his encounter with the crate in the luggage carriage. "I'm glad I'm able to still use my swords. Not sure if there'd be a point to me without them." Or his shield.

Curufin watched the katana disappear into thin air. He laughed a little. "I often wonder about that, too. Is there a point to me without my sword? But I am obliged to work with that, since the train didn't let me keep my weapons when I came aboard. Luckily, it did let me keep my tool satchel, and luckily I did pick up a couple of goblin swords and daggers on my very first Voidtrecker mission. But I am glad you have your weapons."

He looked quickly around, checking to see where he had left everything.

"I'd better suit up. I wouldn't want to be late to the party. Going down under to see where that brand-new light is coming from, that is. If you're staying to guard the train, good luck if anything comes up here and attacks the train. I'm sure you'd be the best person to lead the defense."

"Good luck down there. Watch your back, alright?" Gladio smiled and lifted a hand to wave Curufin off and gave a low laugh as he turned to look out toward the sea. He really hoped something didn't come up to attack the train. But if it did. "I'll watch over the train. You guys do what you need to do down there."

They'd all do their part and soon the missions would come to an end. Everyone would be returned and everything could go back to normal... and no more train rocking.

"I'll see you when you get back, Curufin."
