Final: Red

Again time seems to blur, the waves of monsters seem endless, the light out of reach until suddenly they are there. At the light that until then had been on the horizon.

Four columns of white marble stretch upwards into the sky, connected by a marble floor. Inside, floating in the air there are birdcages. Each one is filled with light, a light that sometimes shifts, looking almost like a person. A flick of hair, a scaled tail. But for the most part the light is formless. There is music, a mournful tune that ebbs and wanes. Wordless, a melody that isn't quite there.

But it may be the voidtreckers are more distracted by the form in the centre of the marble. A huge creature, somewhat resembling a jellyfish floats. Tendrils reach out to brush over the birdcages, making the song go sharp and jagged, dimming the lights for a moment.

Inside the mass they will see another light, faint but pulsing, struggling. Behind the creature there is an empty plinth. The creature shifts, blue energy rippling across the tendrils as it seems to sense the voidtreckers.

A skittering behind them will let the void warriors know they have more company. Crabs behind them, this beast in front, it is time to fight.

Even if part way through they might get a little distracted

Danny makes a face as he notices the strain lifting him was putting on the other guy, and immediately forces himself to intangibly slip out of Duo's grip. He winces at the feeling. Intangibility took a lot of effort here, and pulling that trick when he was already feeling wiped out did not feel good.

But floating at the top of the cage took no effort at all.

"I'm a ghost," Danny tells him. "I can fly."

Suddenly having a weight in his arms and then not almost had Duo losing his grip and falling. Luckily he managed to grab ahold of the cage in time and look up. "Well... damn." Okay, had he known that? Nope, he was pretty sure he did not know that.

Which made him realise he hadn't missed Danny's hand before... Damn.

Duo shook his head and hauled himself up to the top of the cage where he crouched, breathing a little harder now. "... Ghost and can fly. Right. Kinda feel like an idiot now." He said with a laugh and a glance toward the nearest cage. "Guess that means you can pop the rest of these open no problem, huh?"

Danny rises up through the top of the cage and lands on top of it.

"Now that I know that going inside is a really seriously bad idea? Probably?" He clenches a fist as it lights up with green energy. "There's something really wrong with my intangibility here, but ectoblasts seem to work."

He was not thinking about what had just happened. Breaking up a few cages sounded like just the distraction he needed.

Duo flashed a grin and clapped the guy on his shoulder with a laugh. "Then go for it, buddy! Free those light guys." He pushed himself up to his feet and turned to his next destination, the closest cage he could jump on and hopefully not do himself an injury.

"Just hearing these guys sing was bad enough to know something was up. But if you felt what they're going through..." And Duo had no doubt that was why Danny had been screaming like he had. He looked over his shoulder at the guy, his smile sympathetic. "I'm really sorry you went through that. But use that pain. Use the anger. Lets get these guys out and teach that asshole jelly a lesson it'll never forget."
