Piccolo had been refraining from using some of his ki techniques simply because it wasn't really necessary for fighting these grounded opponents...and quite frankly he wasn't certain how much of a toll it would take on him compared to normal. This world was strange and it made him uneasy. But he still enjoyed the fight despite these handicaps.

However, the giant water monster was a good excuse to forgo holding back his strength. The green-skinned alien powered up a ball of energy in his hand and then let it fly towards the water monster. It was a relatively small and weak ki blast but it was enough to let Piccolo know he needn't worry about his fighting ability. His strength wasn't effected, and he could easily deal with not having ki sense while fighting something so large, surely.
