Tidus isn't quick to respond. Hard as it is to think, it's harder to know what to say; some desire in him to speak, if not about this, but still- there's a weight inside his chest he wishes he could do something about, to stop it from pressing on his lungs.
He sucks in a breath between his teeth, releases it. But it does little to help.
"I can't," he admits to Taiki's offer, apologetic in the same note; keeping his head bowed, not looking at either of them. He wouldn't be able to be honest, wouldn't want to. There's too much there to go through, ever. They don't need to know. And would he be okay with it: to hear them agree, say he had no choice too...? Is that what he wants to think about, cradle, when Zanarkand sat so heavily on his mind?
"I just--miss home."
But that wasn't untrue. Different from all the other times he used to miss it, a person out of place, a guy mixed up in a culture he didn't understand. He missed it being, at all. ...but maybe he missed knowing he couldn't be there too. Always, deep down. Despite being one of the people to help end it.
