Ken lowers his eyes. He knows what Siebren's doing, all right (in fact, the person he's less sure about here is Leafmon - his partner has been known to go along with Ken's bluffs to force him to examine them). Is it all right to let Siebren get away with it? How far is pushing too far?
What is he hoping for from Siebren, in this conversation? And how much of that is for Siebren, and how much is for the person he used to be?
Leafmon goes along with it in hopes that will make Siebren realize this isn't tenable. Daisuke would get up in Siebren's personal space and not let go, refusing to take no for an answer even when "no" is disguised as "yes". His parents......
But Ken isn't Leafmon, or Daisuke, or his parents. He must really be feeling out of his depth if he's tempted to compare himself to people, again. What does Ichijouji Ken say, when confronted with someone who isn't ready to face something? What does he do?
"You can," Ken says, equally quietly, but intense. "All I'll ask for now is whether there's more we should know as your teammates. But we won't let you feel alone."
