Onward: Blue
The fighters are successfully holding many of the goblins but there are still some that have made it their job to get to the tower. There is an almost constant assault to fight back, never more than three or four at a time though. The wizards focus on their ritual and are glad for the extra help.
As well as fighting everyone needs to eat, especially the wizards who are hyper focused on their work. People to help make sure everyone gets food and alternating who is fighting is probably important. A tiny siege of six wizards and five voidtreckers.
(OOC: This is designed to be a catchall event post for Blue team for threads after the initial fight until the final challenge on day 12.)

Rest up and eat as you can, we've still got a long fight ahead of us.
[But as soon as he's done cleaning up, he's back to fighting. If whoever can't seem to hold out, he'll jump back into the fray as needed. And with the small amount of downtime provided, he'll also heal whoever needs it.]
no subject
How you guys holding up?? Purple's got a bunch of us, so here I am, gimme orders!

His eyes blinked when Renee landed and the lance went into his right hand. Relief was clearly seen on his face and he bowed his head a little.]
My team needs rest. We've had nothing but enemies since we've landed as I'm sure you've seen. So if you've seen anywhere to have them sleep I'd be grateful for your assistance in getting them there.
[He's got two kids on the team and the other is a competent fighter so Ignis isn't immediately concerned with that one though rest could be used.]
no subject
[She let out a small huff at that.] I think I can. I'll probably have to stuff my face after that though--can't afford to get stupid at a time like this! Goblins won't get through my shields. That, I can promise you. So the wizards should be safe and even you can get some shut eye, too. Five hours though, that's probably all I can give you. And no, if I think the shields will fall for any reason, forgive me 'cause I'll probably boot you awake. How does that sound?
no subject
I'm sorry but I can't to allow you to do this alone. Just get the team to safety.
[Ignis is exhausted and he knows that he needs a break. But his pride and having something to prove is overriding that at the moment. Finally though the dirty blonde head shakes and he lowers his head again.]
Five hours is better than nothing and I am most grateful for your help. However, the rest of my team goes first.

[Redheads have tempers, and Renee's is flaring just a tiny bit. Not that she wouldn't argue with anyone pulling such a stupid stunt, but it's worse that it's Iggy. He's better than this. Doing something dumb is her job, damn it. Not that her plan is stupid. She can do it. She knows she can. She's done things that were harder in the past. Comparatively, this is easy.]
That, I agree with. [The kids need to be defended. No argument there.] But if you don't get your cute little ass in there, I'm going to throw you in after them and then close down the tower.
no subject
I appreciate your concern.
[It was bitter to say, and he was about to add more when she agreed with him finally. So with a sigh and a nod.]
I said I will go, but my team goes first..
[And her 'cute little ass' thing just flustered him so he turned away.]
...just get them out of here.
no subject
[For the moment, she's going to supply cover in the form of kinetic knives--if anyone's getting chased by goblins, their oppressors will be taking those to the face! She leaves the door open so that everyone can rush in...]
no subject
With one last look and a glare at the battlefield, Ignis takes Renee up on her offer and gets the hell out of there. Once there, he takes a headcount and then lets his team rest while he heals anyone up that needs it. Standing, he looks the red head in the eyes.]
You have my thanks.
no subject
[He's a damn advisor--sounds like he advises someone important, from what little he says about it. And what kind of show would that have been, if that Important Someone had been here? Renee does meet his eyes for a moment, but she's more concerned about making sure the tower is safe--even if it's glowing red, ensconced in her kinetic force field. More of a target, but it's the best Renee can do. The goblins and their winged wolves can bounce themselves off it as much as they like. It's not going anywhere.]
Get some rest while you can, Iggy. Rest of you guys, too. I'll keep watch and keep the shield going.
no subject
His body ached, he was extremely tired and yet there were important things on his mind. With a sigh, Ignis' green eyes closed and his ankles crossed as he sat with his legs stretched out. Arms folded across his chest and he tried to quiet his thoughts even though he could hear Renee tell everyone to rest. He'd already told his team that, but it wasn't a bad thing to repeat.]
no subject
She leaves Ignis to stay down at the base of the tower, and heads up to check on the wizards at the top--worse case scenario, they're freaking out because of what she's done to the tower, and Renee's pretty sure that they've got more important things to consider. Best to appraise them of the situation update, maybe give them all a snack of some of the supplies she's brought with her. (It's not much, but even some fresh blackberries can be a pick-me-up in a harsh situation!)
Renee takes her time trotting back to the tower's base, but she just has a seat on the last few stairs, crossing her arms over her knees and doing her best to rest a little, too. Keeping her eyes open, and waiting.]
Time lapse
He wasn't scared of seeing her as he had earlier. Being a scholarly type he had more questions but those wouldn't be asked since she seemed so upset about things like that on the train.
Thinking on something that might break the ice, Ignis decides on a question not related to anything here.]
Do you have any idea what a tiger is?
no subject
[Genetic mutations. Ha. Ha. Even when she's giving him an honest answer, she's bringing up things she'd rather not. Not his fault though.]
How do you feel? [Because he did get the least rest, and Renee knows it.]
no subject
What of its temperament? It certainly doesn't have a house cat's temperament?
[At the how he feels, have a typical Iggy answer.]
I'm fine, and thank you again for allowing time for the team to rest.
no subject
[If he can't tell, she kind of likes tigers. Though getting her to admit it, well. Good luck with that.]
Why do you think I'm even here? [Half a grumble, there, but she goes into the hip bag she has and starts pulling out--well, supplies, really. Blackberries carefully wrapped in little leaf-baskets, apples, and some small, roasted, rabbit or squirrel-like critters also wrapped in leaves. Not tons, but it'd give everyone at least something to eat.]
It's not your cooking, but it's better than an empty belly...
no subject
Looking over at her now as she grumbled, Ignis couldn't help but smile at the comment about his cooking.]
I will have to remedy that when we get back on board.
[And then he heads over to hand out things to his team.]
no subject
Well, I'll take you up on that, but we've gotta get back on board first. I trucked some berries and stuff up to the wizards earlier, too.
[Her brow furrowed, then.] Think I should go out and try to get like a deer or something? I'm sure everyone could use a decent meal, but I don't want to leave or drop the shield before everyone's ready. [And even though Iggy will push himself 'til he drops, Renee's not about to push him more than she has, if she can help it.]
no subject
Of course.
[At Renee's suggestion, Ignis shakes his head.]
I beg your pardon, but what is a deer?
[No really, he has no idea but obviously you can eat it. So now he'll have to come up with new recipehs.]
We'll be fine once you're ready to drop the shield. It's bought us time we wouldn't have otherwise had.
no subject
Uh, four legged herbivore with horns, I guess you can call it? They're wild animals where I'm from. But they're edible, a little gamy but I always heard the meat went good with fruit.
[Which she still has a bit of, so yeah, that might be conducive to his new recipehs. It wasn't beyond Renee to look for a few things while she was out, too.]
Honestly, it's better if I do it sooner rather than later. I don't want to end up totally useless. [And while she did manage to rest while they did, Renee didn't want to gobble down all the supplies she'd brought for the Blue team. Maybe she can scrounge something while she's out trying to bag dinner...]
no subject
[They've eaten frogs, snakes, and..ya. Still, Ignis is listening to the suggestions about the fruits to go along with it.]
Then I suppose you should get going. We'll be able to handle things from here.
There's another question he wants to ask.]
And just how are the other teams holding out?
no subject
I'm coming back, you know. [Even if she didn't plan to bring back more chow for his team. Iggy's got the smallest team, it'd make sense that they'd need help the most.]
If they were doing poorly, I'd be there, not here. They're holding their own, and when I left Purple's last location, they were getting close to Um'i'les. Probably two days or so before they reach it, and they're still in good shape. Seemed to me like Tony had things with Red well in hand, and Orange is doing the best they can.
[Though she might check back with them, just because of the vision her roommate had had. Curufin was a stand-up elf.]
no subject
That's good to hear.
[Ignis listened intently to the report and sighed, lowering his head in relief.]
If we didn't have our hands full here, I would go help them. Back home I had an earpiece which allowed me to keep in contact with everyone. It's a pity we don't have that here.
[His world was full of communicative technology and none of it was present. So it felt like one of his limbs were missing due to that.]
I hope you won't mind my asking to keep me updated on the others.
no subject
I...yeah, well, I had an idea about something like that. I don't have the ability to construct it, but I'm gonna tell Tony once all this is over. Maybe next time we won't be so in the dark.
[She could hope, at least. She honestly didn't think it was a dumb idea, for once...]
no subject
I'd say the sooner we work on that the better. Strategies could be far better coordinated with such improved communication.
[He realizes he's saying things she's already agreed with but he's not happy and the dirty blonde head shakes.]
I just sincerely hope somehow the children can be left behind and spare them the horrors.
no subject
[Tony had seemed surprised when Renee knew. As for the kids, it wasn't like some of the others hadn't tried to lessen that particular blow and keep their spirits up. Gwen and Peter, trying to make kids smile. Fierce little Joss, right there on the lines with the older kids, fighting with everything he had. Sarai, singing and telling stories. And the others. It wasn't perfect, but was anything really perfect?]
You're doing what you can, Iggy. I promise I'll tell Tony as soon as I can after this is all over. I'll be happier when it is, myself. I have a little brother, back home. [Even if her older one acted like he was younger than she was, half the time.] Seeing the kids fight...it doesn't sit right with me. Including your kids. [Because his teammates were his kids.]
no subject
Of course I did.
[Her words brought comfort and he had no idea what to say. All he wanted to do was see these children home and back home off of the train to their families. Ignis wished his team could all have brighter futures than the King of Lucis. And then he coughed at the red head's comment. His kids? Surely she..no she clearly meant no offense.
The advisor wanted a family though Noctis and Regis had been it as a boy. So he'd put thoughts like that out of his head and focused on wanting to become a general of the king's armies. But if Noct faced the future he'd seen from Luna's dog Pyrna on the Altar of the Tidemother, there wouldn't be anything like that.
And since the king had a big heart, Ignis was pretty sure that Noct would sacrifice himself to save their world, of that he had little doubt. Children simply weren't in the cards though he smiled somewhat sadly as he looked over his team. They were counting on him and he couldn't let them down. Finally, he turned back to face her.]
Your words are very kind.
no subject
Even if next time, she might think twice. And that's not on Ignis himself. Not at all.]
I don't think that's really kind when I'm stating the simple facts, Ignis. [She shrugged again.] But I better go--inasmuch as I don't want to, I promised you guys a meal--even if you're cooking it because I'd think hard about eating my own cooking out here--and I ought to check up on the orange team, too.
[She might make a couple passes around the other teams too. Check out and see where Purple had gotten off to. See how Red was doing. Keeping promises.] But I'll be back, okay?
no subject
[He didn't want to admit that Renee was right. Ignis didn't want to get attached to anyone, but he still found it happening knowing any one of them could disappear tomorrow or in the next minute. With a heavy sigh there was nothing he could say to her insistence of being correct so he nodded.]
Go, we'll be fine now that we've rested.
[The advisor wasn't in the habit of holding anyone up or keeping them from things that they needed to do.]
no subject
[She just shook her head, then. Renee knew she was stalling for time, because she didn't want to leave--but the sooner she left, the sooner she could try to get back.]
All right, I'm gonna drop the shield! [At that, she raised her voice--so at least the kids could get ready, too, and not be caught off guard when Renee did it. She moved towards the door first--she could tell that there weren't any goblins there, but she was going to be damn sure to be the first one out, to scatter them if any charged the door when the kinetic shield winked out. As it did, she ju,ped out, letting the thunder of her flight keying up announce her departure.
She'd be back.]
no subject
[This answer came out swiftly. They'd already had one misunderstanding and didn't need another. Ignis just didn't know how to tell Renee that she was right so he'd put on the stoic face of responsibility that he always did.]
Go.
[With a sigh, Ignis headed out and went back to his post.]
