"It doesn't seem that creepy to me," Devero says slowly, as he feels out how he does feel about it. He also doesn't want to trample over her lived experience, or make any assumptions about the rules of things where she comes from, but he's a guy who considers himself as having three selves. To Devero, it's obvious that a person can be more than just their physical body. If her software is magic and her hardware is her soul artifact, well, that just means her system runs differently than his.

"My life is tied to the wetware," he continues after a moment, thumping his chest, "and if that breaks, I die. But this isn't all there is to me. If I climb into my exo, that hardware is me too, and in my hardware I can take way more damage than a system that's only wetware. But I still have to be aware of all the components of myself, you know? Just because a bullet couldn't get through to me when I'm in my exo doesn't mean I'm invincible.

"Your system is set up a little strangely compared to other folks', maybe," he adds, "but seems to be that you're still the same person even if your components are distributed differently."
