There's something about what the blue man says that hits him pretty hard. Dennis looks back at the river, watching the water as Yondu keeps talking. In a way he could relate. Sure he had his mom, but... otherwise who else would truly miss him back home? If he never showed up back there everyone would just be validated in what they'd thought of him. It doesn't feel right saying anything at first, he doesn't know this guy and clearly they had a lot of emotional baggage concerning the issue. Who was he to try and speak on that?
