The Endless River

On the morning of day twenty one of the month of Kazoo there is a message on the ICP screens around the train. Their SCA's will light up the colour of the Void and show the following information.

World #398050 is a void nexus known locally as Tshering. As a void nexus this world has strong links with the void and the connection through worlds. World #398050 is home to the Endless River. Legends speak of this river being powerful enough to send thoughts from one heart to another across any distance. All that is needed is for you to know who it is you wish to reach.

On-board

The dressing carriage is open, filled with clothing best suited to a pleasant spring day. Light, airy and in a rainbow of joyful colours and florals. One closet is entirely filled with wide-brimmed hats bedecked with ribbons, feathers and ornaments. A stack of picnic baskets and containers filled with an alarming variety of passenger-suitable foodstuffs and flasked drinks sits in one corner, next to rolls of thick, weatherproof blankets in the four team colours.

The large box marked Do Not Use Yet, filled with small, empty jute bags, is hopefully still sat in the Luggage carriage, ready for passengers to grab handfuls of its contents as directed by the announcement.

Upon landing (after an appropriate countdown), the train remains on the surface, its carriages partially curved to form a gathering site for the day. Welcome to Tshering, the eighth void nexus!



A Day for Picnics

Tshering, system #398050, is a strange place, only habitable by grace of the passengers' SCAs. The sky is shot through with colours, a cascade of sunsets, and through it, the void shimmering through it in seams like a child's painting of the milky way. Still, there's a beauty to the chaotic mash of colours that soaks through its landscape, and in the shelter of the forests of towering funghi that dot its surface, the Void can go unseen by its visitors.

The temperature seems mild, suitable for the provided clothing, and if there are weather patterns around the world they've taken the day off. The funghi are sturdy enough that what air flow there is doesn't disturb their stalks, and carved grooves and holds in some of the larger examples indicate that climbing them to sit atop their glowing crowns is eminently possible, and, in fact, encouraged.

the Endless River

The Endless River is a font of pure chaos, flowing from a multitude of small rivulets across the area to a central reservoir, from which it pours directly upwards, away from Tshering's surface and out of sight, beyond the world's atmosphere.

Anything bagged and placed within the Endless River will also flow upwards and soon be out of sight, passing, presumably, into the Void. Scattered across the surface of Tshering are small, glittering pebbles, as described in the announcement.

The stones are pleasantly cool to the touch, and all passengers need to do is feel. Messages can be in any form that the Voidtreckers wish. Perhaps words, perhaps feelings, perhaps an image from their mind into the stone. Perhaps a mixture. Once they begin their message the stone will glow slightly and continue to glow as they secure it in the bag and cast it into the river. They will feel, almost instinctively, that they need to focus as they do so, thinking of the person they wish to reach all the while.

There are plenty of bags and many more stones; passengers will not be limited in their sendings.

Dressing car
This is his first time dealing with another planet and to say he feels unprepared would be putting it mildly. Even though he gets the feeling that this world is more of a relaxation then a threat, it doesn't mean he wants to be caught unprepared.

And so he stands there with a basket in hand and staring into the closet of clothing. He really has no desire to wear anything that is inside. His own robes would have been comfortable enough but sadly he is still stuck in the train given attire.

He waits until someone else arrives so that he can make sure he proceeds in the correct manner. Not wanting to do anything that would make him end up in the luggage car. He was told what happens if someone refuses to board the train...

Picnic
He sets the basket down on the ground and starts to spread out the blue blanket that he had obtained from the dressing car. The weather is pleasant and he is considering going on top of the strange plants later and doing some meditation. But for now he will simply enjoy the picnic that he brought along.

He settles down onto the blanket and starts to remove things from the basket, spreading them around in front of him. When everything has been removed, he sets the basket aside and looks up as someone approaches.

Although more apt to eat alone, it seems the other person did not think to bring their own basket...or perhaps they lost it.

"If you are hungry, please sit. I will not eat all this."

Meditation
And so he finished his meal and has taken up residence on the top of the plant. Meditation is important and this is a nice day for it. He closes his eyes and concentrates, trying to block out all the sounds of other Void travelers around him. He lets out a slow breath as he begins his meditation.

Endless River
He holds the little bag in his hand and stares down the river as he thinks about who he wants to send his thoughts or feelings to. It is obvious...he wants his brother to know that he is alright and that he shouldn't worry for him.

He looks down at the little glowing stone in his hand and then places it into the bag. Carefully he sets it into the water and watches as it glides down the river.

"Do you believe what they say?" Will his wish and thoughts be carried to his brother and his home world?

Endless River

"I do, yes," Eva says softly, not yet having sent a stone up the river.

"Faith can be one of the most powerful things in the multiverse, but also.." She looks back at the river and huffs a little with a wry smirk. "But, I also get the feeling that this place would have been tested extensively, so..."

There's a shrug at the end.

Dressing Car
Xie Lian is very excited about the hats. It has been a long time since he has gotten to wear one. And although these aren't nearly like what he used to have with him, they will do well to block the sun and for that he is excited. It is always fun to get off the train, but these little middle missions are very relaxing.

He selects a particularly wide brimmed hat that has adorable little flowers tucked into a white ribbon. He places it on his head and turns to smile at anyone who might happen to be in the room with him.

"Does this one look good?"

Picnic
Xie Lian has the blanket already spread out and the basket set down on top of it. But he got distracted by the large plants that he chose to sit under. They are fascinating and he is impressed that the have grown to be so large that they are basically trees. They definitely aren't like any trees he is used to seeing.

He places his hand against the stalk and looks up at the wide canopy that it has above him.

"It's so beautiful."

Always so impressed by the things on these worlds and how different they all are. he has learned about so many things since being on the train.

River
He sits beside the river and holds the little stone in his hand. The one person he would send his thoughts to was already on the train. But he does wonder if his friends back home are wondering where he has gone off to. It would be good to let them know that he is okay and not to worry.

"I wonder if I send this, if it will only cause them to worry more..."

Because if they hadn't noticed he was missing then they would start to worry. Or if they had been searching, realizing that he was in a place they couldn't get to might be frustrating for them.

He sits and ponders this for a moment as he lets himself get drawn into looking at the shiny stone.

Dressing Car

Raven is taking her time as she looks through all the...bright colors. Or Pastels. It's all quite a bit too cheery for her taste, honestly. She turns with the question, and hmms for a moment. Studying him in the hat, and taking her time to choose her words.

"It's not my taste, but it suits you."

Mami never quite found the time to make her announcement, but that's all right! She disembarks in a bright blue sundress and wide hat, her hair loosely curled in a messy braid behind her. She appreciates the provided food but packs her own kit, just in case...

And she squeals with delight when she sees their surroundings. It's beautiful...! She immediately gets to work setting up at a nice ring of glowing mushrooms, setting out a ring of teacups and some piping hot white spring rose, a favorite blend.

"Here, why don't we relax first? It's going to be an interesting day, hmm..."

Later, Mami gathers a few stones and stands at the river, lost in thought. After each declaration, she places the stone in the bag, briefly praying over it.

"Alfredo-san...I hope you're safe, wherever you are. Miki-san...I don't want to put you in danger, but everyone tells me you're so strong. And Kaname-san and Sakura-san really miss you. And...

Mom...Dad...

I'm so sorry. I know I can't ever make it up to you...but I love you, and I wish we could've stayed together..."

At the last, she bows her head. She can't cry. She's supposed to be over this. But she hasn't considered this pain in so long, and it threatens to break over her. She needs to send her love. And her regret.

At first Madoka isn't close enough at all to hear what Mami is saying. But she does notice the girl standing there by the water. And at first Madoka is tempted to give her some respectful distance, since Mami probably has a lot to talk about, then she sees the girl bow her head like that.

And while that could be in thought too, or even in prayer.. Madoka could swear that there was something different about Mami's facial expression, right before her face lowered from sight.

Something different enough for Madoka to start to approach. Carefully, with concern. Hence why she only lightly speaks up.

Dressing Car
Xue Yang stares at the clothing options with a quirked eyebrow. The last thing he wants to do is wear anything in that closet. He is perfectly content in his all black robes. He can handle whatever the weather is on the planet just fine without having to be wearing something so...floral.

He turns away from the closet and picks up a picnic basket instead and a blanket. "I'm not touching anything in that closet." He can always take off layers. He isn't shy.

Picnic
The picnic basket has been abandoned below him as he lays stretched out on the top of one of the funghi. His hands are behind his head and his eyes are closed as he enjoys the warmth of the sun on his face.

He isn't sleeping and he can hear all the people wandering around below him, but he decided that a little pre-lunch nap might be good to have. He wanted to be able to enjoy all the time outside that he can.

He cracks his eye open when he hears someone approach and rolls over onto his side to stare down at them. "Don't be stealing my picnic basket. I'm saving it."

Endless River
He has nothing he wants to say to anyone on their world. Instead he has his arms crossed and is leaning against one of the funghi as he watches everyone else sending wishes down the river. He didn't care for anyone and anyone he actually would want to talk to is already there. So he has no reason to play such a stupid game. That probably isn't even going to work anyway...

This is a nice break, a picnic. So after the announcement, Xingchen wakes up early in the morning to get ready. He got dressed and wears a robe with shades of blues, and wears a wide-brimmed hat with ribbons and feathers, wearing joyful colors for once. He gathered picnic baskets and he accompanies his fiance through the forest.

Once they had it laid out to enjoy the scenery of the forest, he joins him as he naps. "This place is beautiful." For once, he is so happy and joyful to able to see what the world looks like. From the cascade of sunsets and the colorful milky way, it's beautiful in a cosmic way, and enjoying the nature of the forests and fresh air.

After the picnic, he went to the Endless river to sit by the shore and meditate by the stones to send his messages. There's only a few people he sends his message to. His nephews, Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, A-Qings, Song Lan, and finally, Xue Yang...he send in thoughts, emotions, and feelings. He truly believes they will receive it.

Once the message is sent, the stones glowing, he secured it in a bag, and cast it in the river. He watches as the river takes his message away into the void, carrying his stones and messages across the multiverse.

Not true, the stones do work. Xue Yang will be struck with his emotions. Because he's too physically close to him and he's a passenger on the train, he might feel the intensity of Xingchen's message and emotions. There's sadness, regret, grief, love, especially love, unconditional love, and not to mention, followed by a good solid headache.

Dressing Car
It took some searching, but Raven has managed to find the very small section that is not bright and cheery or pastel. Holding up a black gown to herself, and pondering if she wants to bother with that long a skirt. She's also managed to find a nice black hat to go with. Is she planning on going to a picnic or a funeral?

Picnicking
Eventually she'd been talked out of the hat in favor of a different, more airy one. Raven had kept the black gown though, and for once---her cloak and cowl were nowhere in sight.

She's set up in a shady spot where she can admire the scenery and people watch, with a navy blue blanket, some tea, and her knitting. The blanket is starting to take shape, including highlighting the variegation in the yarn. This is her way of being social and open to visits, and enjoying the nice day for once.

Endless River
Raven had grabbed one of the bags of stones and pondered for most of the morning what she wanted to send. If she wanted to send anything. She'd made good friends on the train, and felt at ease there---Trigon could not get to her. She would not be used as a tool for evil.

But she missed her friends. The titans had been the first real friends she'd ever had, and in some ways were more like family. If she was missing, there was no doubt they worried.

So you might find her standing at the river, staring meditatively out at it. Not quite lost in thought, but definitely taking her time to pull out a pebble, focus, and then throw it within the waters.

Picnic

Looks like Raven had a similar idea to Casper. He wanders over and sits down nearby, pulling out a small container of sliced carrots and opening it as he sets it between them. He pulls out some star-shaped pieces of fabric and a needle with black thread and starts sewing.

"How are you doing?" He can talk and sew, but if she wants silence, he can do that too.

Kaiba isn't really in the mood for a delightful spring frolic, no matter how neon the world. He reluctantly dresses in light blues (his shirt has birds and clouds on it...where are the dragons?) and grabs a basket, choosing a campsite closer to the rest of the group than he normally would.

He's open for dining companions, of course, and will greet them with his usual curt nod.

"...do you think the messages will reach them? Coding a destination across a complex multiverse through thought and emotion alone?"

He sounds skeptical.

sure, why not

But as foolish as it might seem, he's going to try it regardless. He starts with messages for departed void travelers, murmuring softly like he would into a tape recorder:

"-You helped me through a lot. I hope you're safe and happy now. Thank you for everything, and I hope everyone's accepting you and treating you well. And that you find someone who can be the partner you deserve.

-You would've loved to hear all this. We're apparently saving worlds just before destruction, and that explains the disproportionate amounts of mortal peril, doesn't it---I can almost hear you laughing. Look, it's been rough, but I'll try to carry on like you would.

-Can you see what we're going through from there? Look, I'll try to get back at her. In a socially sanctioned and appropriate way...or try to work things out, like a high-minded noble such as yourself would. But that's not nearly as satisfying. And you should come back here so I can finally surpass you. Don't chicken out on me now."

The last message is the hardest. He kneels near the river and unclasps his locket, opening it and setting it on the closest rock. He opens it to the picture of his smiling baby brother.

"Mokuba...it's Seto. I'm sorry I didn't listen to you then. I abandoned you to chase Atem when I should've stayed. And now look at me, lightyears and lightyears away. If you never forgave me for this, hey, I'd get it. I broke my promise.

But I'm going to do everything I can to get back to you. Wherever you are...I know you're doing great things. You've really grown into your own. I just wish you didn't have to be forced into it.

And I probably haven't told you this in years, but. I love you."

With a heavy sigh, he squeezes the rock as if trying to draw water from it.

"Considering everything you've seen and experienced on this train, you doubt it?" Raven asks. She has two cups of tea with her, offering one to Kaiba. Somehow, while the black gown and hat aren't the cheeriest--they still work.

Perhaps because Raven isn't hiding in her cloak and cowl for once. This is her way of enjoying the nice day as well.

I. Wardrobe Is Always Fun

Soldat likes the chance to dress up. When not on duty, in fact, and not buried in darkness where color won't matter much, they like color. This is not going to be an on-duty sort of event, so they shuffle through the clothes on offer until they find a soft blue jacket that will fit over the metal arm, a while linen shirt underneath that, and comfortable loose pants in a cool brown.

Still with the combat boots, though, and the necklace of chewing pendants lays on top of the shirt.

Then they're lingering with other people, offering, "Need anything adjusted to fit? I'm pretty good with quick tailoring."


II. Climbing Shit Is Also Fun

Rather than shading under the mushrooms, Soldat takes the opportunity to do some climbing. They haven't been able to really stretch their climbing muscles since Beacon, where there were actual trees. It's not really much of a challenge, but there's other things to do when up above the ground in a forest of mushroom blooms.

So find them on top of mushrooms for pretty much half the day, pausing up there for snacks and to wave down at friends below. Find them jumping from one cap edge to another, much further than your standard human ought to be able to jump, and cling to the edges by the metal arm, looking down idly before pulling themselves back up above again.

Find them tumbling to the ground, missing their leap, curling around their lantern so it can't get squashed (that would be awkward), and landing with an "Oof! Ow."


III. And Then The Less Fun Part

They settle in at the river after they've fallen a couple times-- clearly a sign of getting tired from all the climbing around; they're so damn out of shape, it feels like-- to find just the perfect stones for the people they want to send thoughts to.

"Misty," they murmur first. The most important, the softest pink opal stone they could find. "I'm okay. I'm on a space train, doing missions to help people. I hope we defeated the World Eater. I didn't mean to leave. I'm sorry. Be careful, if you're still back in Beacon. I love you." Then it's wrapped carefully in the little bag and set to drift. Thinking about Misty is easy.

Thinking about Steve is hard. Not the Steve here... their universe's Steve, the one they're sure is dead, a Steve who wouldn't remember them hauling him out of the river, because they weren't alive to do it. It's harder to start speaking, and takes three tries before they can tell the heavier, red-and-blue-sparkling stone: "I'm sorry I didn't know you. I'm so sorry I let you fall, maybe let you die. I'm sorry I hit you so many times. Please forgive me. Please be okay."

Then they sit on their heels on the shore, watching it drift away, putting one of their chewing pendants in their mouth as they watch. After a moment, they pull out several sheets of paper from the casing of their ever-present tablet, and start folding little origami boats. These get sent out along the river, too, though not with messages. They did this in Beacon, in memory of people lost. It helps a little, too.

What the hell is Soldat doing?

Yondu ends up watching them from where he's been brooding eating, before that fall, finally. He puts aside what he's been snacking on, grabs a flask of water from his basket, and goes to see what's up.

Once he reaches Soldat's side, he points up at the big ol' mushroom.

"Y'want me to get ya up there?" He opens his cream-colored suit coat to show the arrow stashed inside.

It sucks to have to start your platforming section all over again.

Up Top

Otoha misses tall buildings. The first world he'd been to had some tall structures, but not enough to really be satisfying to climb. The second hadn't had any tall structures at all. This one doesn't have anything like what he's used to, but he still climbs up a tall fungus and stands there, just feeling the breeze whip through his hair and coat.

He's not opposed to some company, it's just that people will have to get up there first.


Grounded

Normally, Ootha's a fairly cautious guy, keeping his options clear in case he needs to escape or fight. He's slow to trust anyone to watch his back or let his guard down...

... But here he is with his back against one of the stalks, eyes closed. Sometimes he looks like he's about to fall asleep, but he cracks an eye open if someone nears him. He's resting, not sleeping.


Feeling Low

At first, Otoha wasn't going to send any messages. Once he heard of someone sending stuff to the past, though...

The first message he sends is to his father, which consists of little more than a burst of anger and the words I'm more than your weapon muttered to it before it goes into the river. His next one is to his mother. I didn't know you, and I don't know why you did what you did. You left me with him. Maybe that's unfair, but it's the truth.

The next one goes to Nue, just consisting of an image of a damaged but alive Shinjuku and a simple message of thanks. He hesitates before sending the next one, but one goes to Eko with the message of I'll find a solution. You were wrong. But thanks for protecting Shinjuku for four hundred years. After all, if he hadn't, then there wouldn't have been a Shinjuku for Otoha to be born in, grow up in, and protect.

The last message though... he hesitates for a long time. He doesn't know how to phrase it. Reiji needs to know how much he meant to him, but... he's not sure how to express it, himself. It's not hard to find him sitting next to the river, a slightly brownish rock clutched in his hands and a slightly distressed look on his face.

This place is...amazing. It's just amazing, as far as Emporio can see, and he can't stop beaming at everything- even if he...

...Even if he doesn't really think he has anyone to deliver it a message to. ...No. He knows he doesn't. It's a great place for a picnic like the train said, but that's going to be all it is for him.

"Oh-"

And apparently the shadow under the mushroom stalk wasn't just a shadow. "...Did I wake you up?"

A Day for Picnics
Sizhui takes a deep breath when he steps off of the train and onto solid ground once more. He chuckles softly to himself as he hugs the basket of goods to his side. A picnic was certainly a lovely way to spend the day. He even snagged a wide brimmed hat in dark grey with a dark red ribbon around it. The purple blanket is tucked under his arm and he looks around for a place to sit. He’d found a looser, matching maroon shirt that swings around him in dark maroon and linen, loose, wide legged pants in dark grey to enjoy wearing off the train.

He rolls out the purple blanket onto a patch of grass and waves a familiar face over.

“Please come sit. I hope I’m able to pack enough for all of us!”

the Endless River
Sizhui makes his way toward the river that had been mentioned in the announcement. Messages that can be brought back home? He knows he ought to let his family know he’s all right. He bends and picks up a pebble, concentrating on conveying the feeling of safety.

He hopes his family back home would be able to receive the message...he truly isn’t in any danger that he knows of and he’s surrounded by familiar enough faces.

Once he’s finished, he looks around for a bag to use.

She hasn't sent anything yet, but it doesn't mean she's not considering it.

"It'll reach them; I have faith in that at least."

Fresh Air

This planet is better than the last one.

It's not that Ken didn't enjoy fighting, but there's a particular type of mental exhaustion that comes with summoning a Persona too often and he'd run up against it again and again. It's nice to just... be outside. He's managed to find something close enough to his tastes - not quite right, but a light shirt and a light vest in orange along with some shorts. It had been fall when he'd left home, but it feels like spring or summer out there.

He'd gone back and taken one of the soccer balls from the gym out, kicking it around lightly. He doesn't want it to get too far, but he's also not going to be against a quick game. There's plenty of things that can mark 'goal' here.


River Rocks

Ken doesn't send a lot of messages, but it's enough.

He sends one each to Minato, Jin, and Chidori telling them that he's safe, don't worry about him. He's being taken care of and he misses them. Koromaru gets a similar message, though the pain of missing him is even more intense.

Shinjiro Aragaki... Ken sits for a long time before he sends the message. "You better not have died before I had a real chance to kill you." That's enough. He'll know.

One last one... he holds it in his hands. "Mom... were you going to be a Persona user? Is that why you were awake, too? I've never known someone not a teenager or younger with a Persona..." Does it matter, though? Especially now? "I miss you..."

Should that soccer ball ever get kicked slightly astray....there's a foot here to catch it, stopping its trajectory with the ease born of reflexes.

Ken looks down, as if to confirm he is not seeing things, there is a soccer ball here, then back up. "Amada-kun?"

That's right. They both....play soccer, don't they. And this is supposed to be a time to relax.

A question begins to rise in Ken's throat. It's intimidating, but he thinks, since it's Amada-kun, he'll be able to ask it!

Picnic

He couldn't really wear anything here and feel quite right. None of it suits. The hats are practically funny just in concept. Yondu had poked and prodded through what's available until he finds some sort of basic canvasy cream-colored suit with pinkish button-up shirt. He has a basket that had enough meat in it to suit him for a meal.

Like a wallflower he picks a place away from everyone and just plops cross-legged onto his blanket, not even fully unpacking the picnic basket to grab things out of it to eat and drink.

This world makes him homesick. As much as a man who never had a real home can be homesick. It's a strange world that he looks like he shouldn't be stepping on. He fights off any thoughts of it looking like the world a Celestial will make (which at least he's fighting off some thoughts) and just missing world-hopping on his own.

He'll be off to himself for a while.

the Endless River

Yondu stands at the edge of the river, holding his stone and frowning hard at it. Everyone else has someone to send a thought to. But Yondu's pretty damn sure no one wants to think of him.

He can't think of a single damn person to send a thought to.

Like many people, he has the thought of sending a thought to a past self or something. But all he can consider is a good hearty 'Fuck You'. No good thoughts relating to himself in the past. No desire to remind anyone that he even existed because they made it real damn clear they didn't want to remember him.

Finally, he looks to a person near to him. "D'you want this thing?" He offers them the bag.

Endless River

At first he wasn't going to do it, send a message with one of the stones. It doesn't seem real still, even though he's standing in the middle of it all. Yet maybe it's all true and if he owes anyone anything it's his mom. So he holds a stone in his palm, fingers curled around it as he thinks of her.

"I'm okay." He can't elaborate, it wouldn't make sense anyway, but maybe just hearing he's okay, however that translates to her would be enough. Just don't worry, he's fine. There's a lot of people around the river so it's not a surprise there's someone close by, but at first Dennis doesn't realize they're speaking to him.

"Hm?" He looks over, eyes widening a little, still not used to non humans yet. Some what hesitantly he'll nod, taking the offered bag.

"You ain't gonna send nothing?"

The entire premise of this stop is...

Well. Kyoko doesn't know, exactly, if she can say how she feels about it. But it isn't anything... happy. Not even remotely.

At least the weather's nice. This world looks like it could be some kind of witch's labyrinth, but since it isn't trying to kill them, that means it's safe for Kyoko to marvel at the scenery. "Hey. You." Anyone who lingers near her, whether they notice her or not, is getting called out to. "What would you do, if you got some kind of... weird message? Like the ones we're sending off. What would you think?"

He's found a nice airy white suit with a red shirt with white stripes to go with it, along with a skimmer hat he's wearing slightly tipped rakishly on his head. He's been wearing train polos, okay! He wants to wear nice clothes on the regular again. (And by 'on the regular' one means when his post-apocalyptic ass could come across it).

He's gotten a picnic basket full of foods that he's not seen in a while, and he wanders around searching for the blankets of people he's met while trying to also look at the sky.

This? This is like nothing he's seen. That view is absolutely insane.

While he's mesmerized for a bit and wanting to take it in, he ends up backing up into someone. Not hard enough to knock anyone over, but hard enough to startle him a little. "Woops, sorry."

Murphy wastes no time in sending a few of these stones. For one? They're pretty nice to help. He thinks at it like he would think at other undead even as he's doing the whole feeling thing, anyone telepathically sensitive catching the crowded edges of warm thoughts. And when he throws them? They're mostly nice. For all the hate and spite and greed and bitterness that can stew in this half-alive corpse, he casts pleasantries to his lovers at home. To Warren. To Doc. Just shockingly good nostalgic vibes.

Okay, maybe with a touch of, Can you come save me now? To Warren but that's, you know, neither here nor there.

"I've never even imagined anything like this." He knows he's not dreaming because he can't actually dream anymore, and he knows he's not high because his mind is not this creative. This is Doc x 10 creative, this is not Murphy creative. It's crazy.

"... It's fine. Guess we're all kind of tourists, here." The sky is... well. Like nothing he's ever seen. The last place had a good view of the stars, but this is... really different.

Assuming no one would want him at their picnic, Ken has set up a space for himself. But it feels small. It feels lonely.

Don't push yourself, Ken-chan," Wormmon reminds him gently. "We can find other people."

"Mm." But Ken.....Ken has been doing a lot of thinking about the Voidtrecker Express, and the message they'd received that morning had cemented his belief: the train is good. What they're doing is right.

He's on a team.

So he swallows, and the next person who wanders past without seeming to have a goal in mind will hear: "Um!"

Ken has gone completely stiff. But he has a very nice, neat picnic spread out behind him. "It's Orange Team's month for meal preparation, and Wormmon and I made too much.....would it be all right if we imposed on you....to....."

He has to finish the sentence. He's having trouble finishing the sentence.

Behind him, Wormmon's face is scrunched up, and his claws are curled into little fist facsimiles. YOU CAN DO IT, KEN-CHAN!!!!

Ken sits by the riverbank, holding a pebble. Tears stream down his face, but he smiles through them. His first few messages had come straight to mind - reassuring his parents, reassuring Daisuke. He'd even, in a fit of spontaneous audacity, sent one to Hikari-san to inform her the darkness is being fought everywhere. (They still don't know each other that well, so he feels very brave.)

But this last one.....This last one hadn't occurred to him until he had gone for a walk and overheard others' messages. Realized the context, and immediately stopped listening so as not to be rude, but he'd gotten to thinking. What if. What if.

He'll never know for certain. He'll be taking a bet on the power of his feelings. But many miracles have happened before. His ability to sit here, instead of destroying himself in the darkness, is one of them.

So he's going to try. But there's so much he wants to say that just containing all the words hurts. How many times has he had this conversation in his head? But now there's a chance the person might hear it.

In the end, only two words matter. Ken whispers through his tears, smiling, beatific, sending all the joy and the warmth and the peace, above all the peace, the peace a pressured boy never got to experience, he can, pressing it into his pebble, but gently, as gently as a small boy blowing a soap bubble:

"Big brother.......thank you."

Gods, who let Eva into the florals? More exactly, who let her pick out something to wear as it's very overwhelmingly layered floral. The fact it makes her pokebelt and two 'balls stand out, and drown out anything else she's wearing isn't even noticed.

"It's a shame the train won't let us keep the clothes. Gods, I want these so bad- they go nice with my hat, right?"

Eva, your hat is a beanie, very purple, and very wintry so... no?

GENERAL
a - arrival, first hour
Things she was expecting on disembarking: not this, and there's a noticeable alertness for the first hour Eva's on the world, from pacing the area, to scanning the horizon, to keeping Princess and Dancer in their 'balls. Just in case. One can take the trainer out of her world, but you can't take that world out of her. More to the point, this reminds her a tad too much of folkloric stories and various pictures floating around the 'net, about where fairy-types like to live.

She knows, knows she shouldn't be alert, that the Voidtrecker Express wouldn't take them to a dangerous holiday world. She can't help it; her situational awareness keeps pinging her that as nice as this is, it's too easy for danger to creep in.

Give her an hour and she'll relax enough to have fun, and let Dancer and Princess out, too.

Where's Lele? Tucked in its 'ball in Eva's Arms Band for some reason...?

b - Even pokemon can have fun!
Princess is very keen on the harmless mischief and fun that may include brief bursts of telekinesis. It ranges from pouncing on people, to weaving between legs, to begging for food - if he can do it, he will (including trying any and all unattended drinks). Heck, the clefairy'll even try Sing a few times; long enough for a person to drift off for a few seconds. Naturally, Princess attempts to hide as much as any pink fluffy thing can, and given the surroundings... He may or may not blend in.

Yet, for all his mischief, the clefairy can just as often be seen either flopped down somewhere, curled up on a lap (maybe yours?), or loafing on a mushroom cap. How'd he get up there? Who knows. He does what he wants.

Dancer, on the other hand, is enjoying the flight time. It's nice to stretch wings and just fly. There's dips and dives to the point it's like she's showing off, which, given the occasionally fiery displays in the air, she might be? Either way, none of the embers make it to the grown. Of course, she's not always in the air; she can be found on friendly shoulders (might want to shoo her off before long; she's basically a mini-heater), mushroom caps, or even by your picnic. Though, unlike Princess, she'll refuse any and all offered food. She will accept pets though.

It's not hard to work out who they belong to, given they both look different from the other pokemon on the train.

A LOT OF MESSAGES
At various points throughout the day, Eva can be found crouched by the Endless River while an often hidden yet very colourful metal pendant glints in the light. Eva is sombre. Sad. Melancholy and wistful, yet so very grateful for this chance to send her loved ones a message.

She doesn't do them all at once. Gods no. She's got her mum, her dad, her sisters (Atsu and Hisa), her boyfriend (Satoru), Fluffy. Her grandmother and Aunt Chiiya. Then there's Nerdanel and Kaito. That's at least ten messages, and all of them have a slew of emotion attached. Everyone a message is sent to is, in some way, family, and she misses every one of them.

Each time a bagged stone is cast onto the river, Eva grips the pendant. Maybe to help her focus, or may in prayer. Perhaps it's both.

If anyone is close enough, they will hear a small prayer: "Wings of fire, wings of thunder, wings of ice, invoke the Winged Mirages to see it reach the one that matters."

Dressing Car

Trunks likewise is trying to find clothing, but turns when asked for an opinion. It all doesn't quite go-together, and yet--it sort of does? He is not the one with fashion-sense in his family. "I think your hat is missing some flowers if you're going with a theme."

.....No. She needs to bide her time. So for now, she is merely a totally ripped woman crouching on a giant mushroom, thinking broody thoughts with smaller fungi noticeably sticking out of her pockets.

Pebble by pebble, she picks up stones and grins, focuses, lets all the hate and the resentment, fifteen years of nihilism flavored by unfiltered ambition, imbue itself into the rocks. Adds a slice of disillusionment - are you sure you're right? do you listen to what whispers in that gold you hold? Then, placing her little hatred-and-paranoia-bombs in the appropriate bags, she picks them up and starts playing skipping stones with them. (She's really good at skipping stones.) ]

[Ray doesn’t really know what he expected from a train that visits different worlds, but as he gets his first glimpse of Tshering, he realizes that yeah, this really is nothing like home. He can’t exactly just stay on the train though, so he gets off with everyone else and takes the chance to (carefully, this is a different world after all) explore.

Catch him looking up in amazement at the giant glowing mushrooms, or, eventually, scrambling up one to get a better view.]

Oh boy, does Inigo ever know that he already wants to have absolutely nothing to do with this river the moment he reads the message on the ICP screens. He already knows it before the train even arrives on the world. There's just way too many feelings about the people he misses from back home, the people he misses because they left the train. A wound that's been scabbed over and then opened up so many times at this point that it's permanently sore.

He doesn't even want to think about trying to send a message to anyone. It just hurts. So when Inigo exits the train, he mostly just looks lost - wandering idly, but without really going anywhere. Without even really seeing what's happening around him. He almost looks a little like a zombie.

Picnic Time

Oh, how perfect! Such a strange world, yet it's so pretty to enjoy. She does wonder why she can't remove her device, but for now, she's more focused on enjoying herself. She already has a picnic blanket laid out and the picnic basket all emptied out. She also took the time to swap out the hoodie and khakis in favor of a flowy summer dress and wide-brimmed hat.

"Ah, you! Wanna join me?" she asks, spotting someone nearby. "There's no way I can eat all of these!"

River Messages

After the picnic, Nozomi decided to do what many others were doing and gathering stones to put into those jute bags. A part of her thought she shouldn't, to just leave them alone, but she had to. Some sort of message out there to her friends and loved ones. But, there was one she wanted to send before all of them.

"I think... I think I'm tired of running. Tired of hiding." She uttered, holding onto the rock. "I want to meet you. I want you to know I exist. But I need to find you first. So... wait for me." With that, she set the rock inside the bag and set it off.

Once it was gone, she let out a small sigh and pondered who to send the next rock to.

I've made new friends and met up with old ones. Mami-senpai's here! I just know the two of you would get along, though I don't know if I could handle the combined teasing. I hope I'll see you again someday, I'd love to have my big sister around again. Bye.

'Oooh we get to send messages of feelings back to our moms and dads and siblings and lizards and everything!' has been the excited buzz that Sam's been hearing about for awhile now, and it's reached the point of annoying. Yeah, congratulations everybody, you've rediscovered mail? Personally he'd think it'd be way more worth celebrating if this dumb train would just give him some freaking wi-fi but sure whatever. Magic feelings rocks. Just as worth losing your shit over, apparently.

...yeah alright he's a little grumpy. The first stop he gets to make on this thing and its big draw is a Pony Express but way stupider. It's useless to him and everyone's too happy about it that they can't even be annoyed by Sam's usual BS.

He's lying on a bottom bunk, pouting at the bed above him with his arms crossed behind his head. Maybe after a few hours once everyone's down crying and being all emotional and crap he'll come out and have a look around.

Of course, if he happens to glance out the window, the sight of giant colorful mushrooms might in and of itself be a motivator for him to get out there.

Sam is outside, standing in the sparkly rocks, ignoring the river and instead fixated on the stalk of the big mushroom he's standing under. He has his helmet on and out of habit, tries to scan the thing. Of course, he's got no ECHOnet connection, so that's useless. He scowls at the popup on his helm that tells him as much. "Dammit...hey, you think these things are any good for eating? Or better yet, getting stupid high?"

A. Luggage

Before she dressed, before she gathered up a basket of foodstuffs and a blanket she will not end up using, she walks to the luggage and takes up a handful of bags. Standing there in the luggage cart, she tries to think through the people she'd want to send a message to, counting bags in her hand and trying not to take more than her fair share.

"Mama and Artemis for sure, Eros will be worried. I should probably tell Athena and Hestia..." She counts those out, putting them in her bag and waffling over the rest, "...I should probably try Hades or Hecate, at least so they know I'm okay." She bites her nail and tosses two more in her bag.

B. Mushroom Picnic

After gently placing a few stones into the river, she'd taken up residence on one of the taller mushroom, the picnic basket by her side, her hat pushed back to look at the sky. In her lap is a folded frame set, beside her a magazine left open to a spread of a dark, yet brilliant cityscape, a blue cast world of glittering buildings and dark streets.

She nibbles at a tomato sandwich, cut into cute little triangles, and when someone she knows comes near, she leans over the edges to gesture them up. She did purposefully pick one of the sturdiest looking mushrooms, with notches carved up to the crown.

"The view is even better up here, I think."

C. Endless River

Her first stone took the longest. It was for her mother and it ended up holding such a mix of emotion, sorrow, worry, the sensation of longing and the words that rush together, 'I'm safe, I'm sorry, I'm loved, I am alright, I might not be able to come home, don't ruin the world for the sake of me'. It mixed and melded into love, guilt, and frustration that she knows isn't fair When she placed it into a bag and gently tossed it in, it was a relief. That was the hardest. The rest will be simple.

Well that's what she thought, until now, staring at one of these glittering opals in her palm. She needs to at least tell them she's alive. She could do Hecate. It'd be easier. Less emotional baggage, right? But he deserves to know, right? That's she's okay, that she won't be coming back? Her frustration and uncertainty wells up. Ugh, why is this so hard?!

Well now all these feelings are in this stone aren't they? Ugh.

Persephone tosses the stone, reaching down to pick up another--only to notice the first one hop, skip and plop into the river.

"No-nonono shoot! Does it work without the bag? Now I have to send another!" She stands at the very edge, dismayed as the pebble sinks out of sight. Did it work? Did it just sink? Can she take that chance? "Sugar snaps!"

A, then B?

Zagreus takes the liberty of adding three more bags to her stash, despite any protestations she might make. His only answer is, "So that your Cerberus can know he is a very, very good hellhound."

He's already counting out his own bags, and goodness gracious he's counting out a lot. "One for Father, one for Mother, one for Nyx, one for Achilles, one for Meg, one for Dusa, one for the version of Than that's stuck at home, one for Charon, of course, might as well toss in Hypnos, wouldn't want him to feel left out. Three for Cerberus. One for Master Chaos, I'm sure they'd be thrilled. One each for the Olympians who've reached out to me, so that's nine all told with Cousin Hermes included. Oh, one each for Orpheus and Eurydice... one for sir Sisyphus, one for Bouldy, one for Patroclus... might as well send one to Asterius letting him know I won't be there for quite some time to spar with him. Let me think if there's anyone else... oh! Head Chef, I want to tell them about avocados... and of course my good shade..."

Yes, he is very blatantly leaving out Theseus. No, he doesn't want to talk about it.

Send a message to the great beyond huh? Peter's excitement has washed away and he's left staring at the beautiful river flowing. He's settled on the river bank and hold a stone in his hand, watching it glitter. He know exactly who he wants to send a message to and lets out a sigh.

"Uh... Hey Uncle Ben. It's uh-it's Peter." Is he supposed to do this out loud? It feels a little like sitting front of a grave stone. He's not sure he likes it. "I uh-I owe you an apology-for that night. Um... I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. I'm doing better-May's doing-she's-she's great. We both miss you-a lot. Life's been crazy lately. I uh-I got to meet Tony Stark. Like-actually meet him-he looks out for me with the super hero stuff-oh yeah, I'm a superhero now-turns out that Spider bite gave me super powers so that was-unexpected."

"I think about what you said that night a lot-about what my dad used to say. I've been really vigilant about not shirking my responsibilities-always to help people when they need it. I guess I don't really know what else to say other than-you know, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean to yell like that and-and you didn't deserve that-you and May took such good care of me and I shouldn't have said those things." He sniffles and wipes his nose with his free hand before securing the stone in the bag and throwing it into the river, tossing it hard just to see how far he can throw it and thinking about times he'd skip rocks with Ben by the Hudson.

This has definitely been a long time. She's eaten outside plenty in recent years, but it's generally a hurried ration bar in the middle of a mission. Nothing involving a basket, or relaxing.

Still, she's going to give it a try. Sample what the train set out. "Is this what a 'vacation' feels like?"

She's actually relaxing and all she can really think about is how much Kanan would want to see that happen. At least she can say something to him.

Holocalls via Chopper are one thing. This is all new.

"Well, love, it seems it's my turn to get dragged off on some mysterious side journey. This train has lousy timing. I'm not going to say anything about the mission. I trust you with that. Mostly, I miss you."

She hesitates. The stone is picking up feelings anyway. He knows even though she seldom speaks the exact words out loud. But she should probably say it anyway. "I love you."

Endless River 2 so this prompt isn't a monster

The messages to the rest of her family are equally sentimental and only briefly mentioning the very active mission they were on. She's realized from how often she caught herself almost expecting them to be acting that she can trust her crew to know exactly what needs to be done without her needing to actually say it.

It will take time to get that comfortable with anyone here.

Instead she speaks to them of trust. And the messages to Ezra and Sabine both end with "I'm so proud of you."

She also sends a brief message to Senator Organa. That one is more busisness, but somehow out of the leadership of the Rebellion he seems like the one who might understand something like this happening.

Trunks is enjoying the rare chance to be outside too. And not be training. (Yet.) He's making rounds to check on people, say hi, and just be social. It's not something he's very good at, given he grew up kind of isolated, but he's found he likes having friends.

Takato and Guilmon can be found running around the fungi and exploring. With some experimenting, Guilmon figures out how to climb the fungi and they entertain themselves trying to decide which one has the best view.

The Endless River
Takato was sitting by the side of the river, with a large stack of stones and bags by his side. He'd already counted them out. One for his parents. One each for the other Tamers. One for his teacher and one for Yamaki.

He'd often wished to have the chance to tell his parents what happened. But now that he had the chance, he wasn't sure how to start. He sighs and puts the stone aside for now.

He looks over at Guilmon, who had been carefully sniffing at the river.

"What do you think we should tell them?"

"Not so close to the river." For all Sonya's wariness about the Train, she would take whatever warnings they gave as serious. Nevermind that the creature sniffing the water wasn't human. The kid was clearly close to it and who knew how the water would affect it.

She had too much experience when it came to those sort of close calls.
