"That's exactly what he was... had the powers to back it up, but you ain't wrong." Yondu pulls a toothpick out of his basket to gnaw on.

"You know, you don't gotta say somethin' real particular. You could just put a thought in their head."

He deserves the chance to at least try. This is a good kid that actually takes his time out to help people. Someone's gotta be glad to have a good thought from him.
