What their Eyes See: Optional Ongoing

By day eight the Voidtreckers have made a good deal of progress in all their tasks but there is still a lot to do to help the people of the city.

It is around mid morning when there is a message on their comms. For those that want to help it is easy to either find Anan herself or ask for netpoints and scanners to be brought to them by Chiff.

Illusions have gotten worse, uncertainty and fear are rising across all tiers and the situation is becoming more chaotic by the day. Indeed especially on the first and second tiers it seems that the voidtreckers themselves are being targeted, with creatures stalking them and attacks on their minds to make them believe that what they are seeing is real.

Same inside the Spectura system, the vines seem to almost be on the offensive against the voidtreckers though things are getting better outside the game system as more of the vicitms are freed and wake up.

Almost opposite to the situation on the lowest tier, which is getting more chaotic by the day. Anger is bubbling over, people are frightened and in a place like this the only real way to express that fear is through anger.

There has been a lot of progress but there is still a lot of work to do, especially as many of the voidtreckers have started to realise, this all seems a little too familiar.

The machines hums, calculations made as it faces down the both of them; Tidus bringing out his sword with some hesitation as its water-hue glimmers visibly from its blade. Not a good weapon for these things, but...!

"Yeah! Not so tough without its goons though!" But it would be even better if Tidus had his company. Bah, if only Rikku was here!

But that might not be where Tidus's thoughts are better being, as those lanky arms cross at its front and electricity starts to build up around the machine, a memory clicking - "Wait, get out of the way, it jumps!" - and shared in the instance their foe does exactly that--coming for Tidus as it pounces at him. He rolls out of the way, twisting with his sword as the machine just a quickly responds to getting dodged, swinging a limb with electricity still running down it and making Tidus drop his blade as it gets zapped. "Ah!"

Water is so not good in this situation.

“Tidus!” Nozomi cried out. She had jumped out of the and summoned her Cure Fluret, though when she saw her friend injured, she leaped at the machine and slashed at it, barely damaging it.

“Get away from him, you—!” She began before she was swatted away.

It has him stunned for a moment, but as Nozomi leaps in, attacks and distracts it, Tidus has time to grab his blade again. Not the best weapon for this, but the only one he has, and this up close, all he needs is to focus the spell into the swing of the blade he brings up before swiping it straight back down onto the machine.

A hazy aura surrounds it, and a burst of darkness ignites, then lingers around its vision. The head of the machina searches around, thinking only a few seconds to try and swipe behind it, but Tidus has already jumped back.

"Just whack it a few times! It'll go down! This should make it easy!"

After all, it's hard to attack when you can barely see.

“Gotcha!” Nozomi cried out, leaping up to smash the machine in the center with a powerful kick.

And what a powerful kick it is! With its lanky proportions, the machine topples over onto its back easily, but its long 'arms' do mean it can pick itself up. But there's plenty of time for Nozomi to get out of the way before it decides - very delayed - to gamble on that electrifying move from before, limbs spreading again, but catching nothing in its zapper.

"Hah!" Except for a back attack from Tidus, who times a slash down on one of the arms just as the attack finishes, breaking it off. Fortunately for them, Tidus doesn't have many troublesome memories of these things - they're a fan of breaking part easy under his friend's nimble hands.

Nozomi had easily dodged the attack, leaping away from its grasp. Once Tidus' attack, lopped off its arm, Nozomi knew what to do this, grabbing it and lifting it over her head.

"Watch out, Tidus!" she called out, swinging the arm down on the machine's head. Oh, sure, that arm's going to shatter even more, but that should put the robot down for the count.

Whoa, talk about a walloping. Tidus is so not jumping anywhere close to that, and sure enough, the machine will go down with the tough knocks that Nozomi gives it, the whirring of its engine dying down into silence.

"Geez," Tidus sounds with a grin. "Remind me not to get on your bad side!"

Nozomi laughs at that. "Don't worry, I rarely get mad and it's only towards people who deserve it!"

With the threat finished, she made her way over to Tidus. "Are you okay? I didn't think something like that would show up."

Tidus makes his blade disappear, sighing, but there's a relaxed look about him as he shakes his head.

"I'm fine! Just wasn't expecting one of those things to show up. This weird attack's really ramping up." Even making him see random machina from Spira, too. "They were saying everyone was seeing illusions on the top tier from their own memories, but it looks like we're getting the same treatment too. This is weird..."

To say the least.

"It's really starting to feel like the last world with all of these illusions attacking." Nozomi said. She shivered a bit, her slight fear and uncertainty causing her Cure Dream powers to shift, her costume glowing pink before she quickly grabbed Tidus' hand, reassuring herself something is real here.

Whoa, he isn't expecting the sudden hand grab, but he was already confused by her outfit. Blinking, staring some, but his confusion turns to a look of concern.

"Nozomi? Are you okay?"

"Sorry, I... I guess I'm still freaked out over the last mission." Nozomi said. "Being mind controlled like that, thinking everyone was something else..."

By this point, her costume is nothing more than an pink energy outline over her body, though as she calms down, he can start seeing it return.

"I'm sorry if I scared you."

His mouth pulls some, brow dipping sympathetically, and he puts his free hand over hers, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Hey, it's alright. These missions, they stick with you. And that last mission...it wasn't an easy time for a lot of us. But we'll look out for each other, okay?"

He then lets his smile widen, close to a grin.

"And I promise I'm no one else but me! Think it'd be hard to make a fake of a guy like me, yeah?"

Okay, that's definitely a grin now, along with a wink. It's silly, but hopefully it'll cheer Nozomi up some.

It certainly helped, Nozomi smiling at Tidus over what he said. There was also a giggle leaving her lips.

"Thanks. That means a lot." She said. Her smile spreads wider as she blushes at him. "I owe you one..."

"No way, you owe me nothin'!" He gives her a friendly slap on the shoulder. "But if you want to, how about you help me put some of these netpoints around? Ahh," wait! "Have you heard about them?"

Did she hear Anan's message? Hopefully...!

"Oh! Yes, I had I heard of them!" Nozomi said. "I figured enough people would get to them, but if you need help, I'll gladly give you a hand!"

"Well, there's the scanners too, but those're trickier," he says thoughtfully. "We have to get real close to the people we wanna scan, and everyone's being paranoid about the attacks."

Though, can it be called paranoid when they're really happening? Still, it made it harder to get close to people when they were keeping indoors.

"Don't suppose you have any special tricks for getting close to people, do you?"

"Ahhh, no, I don't." Nozomi admitted. "I never got the chance to really develop my magic outside of fighting. I doubt being adorable will go far in this situation, either."

She ponders a bit. "When we get back, I am definitely practicing stealth and stuff!"

That gets a laugh out of Tidus. "You and me both! I think Guri was offering lessons just before this. Maybe we should both hit her up for some tips. Or find a way to turn invisible!"

Either or.

"Now that sounds like a plan!" Nozomi said, laughing. Calming down, she listened to the area around her, making sure there were nothing else around.

"Need to be careful..."

"Right!" he says in a lowered voice. "Keep our eyes open and our ears too! Let's try and find some good spots. You know, one of the murder victims before we arrived was a writer... maybe we should look for a building journalists use?"

Writer, or journalist writer, Tidus figured himself they were one and the same. But even if not: "People like that have gotta know something!"

That's the best place to go for finding out a scoop!

“Like a newspaper office or something...” Nozomi mused. “That sounds like the best place!”
