It was destroyed when I wasn't much older than you, by a man who gave the order to obliterate a populated world as if he were discussing the weather." She didn't say aloud that he'd forced her to watch, but the fact that she knew how he'd given the order... "And he did it with the full intention of destroying as many other worlds as necessary until his goals were accomplished. He is why I know that there are people you don't negotiate with."

"I firmly believe that even the worst people are capable of making different choices and changing for the better if they want to. But that's the issue; they have to want to. There has to be an active decision, an effort made on their part, to step out of the dark."
