1. Preparations - Directed toward Red Team but OTA
"I would like to establish a route for the red team's journey to the Western island," Elidibus remarks as people are gathering to collect gear and coordinate. He has taken a share of the supply provided by the train and stored it in what passes for his personal hammerspace. Water and food and some basic first aid. He'd even borrowed a sword and shield from the armory. But all of it will not get them to their destination.
"I can establish a rift from one point to the other, but it can be visually disconcerting." It wouldn't do to make the natives wary of the aid that's just arrived and it was clear the bridges were not going to be available. "If possible, I'd like to make sure there are options."
2. Arrival - OTA
a. When the doors open, it's clear to Elidibus that this is not going to be a pleasant mission.
It's not the short drop or the cheerful-yet-ironic 'mind your step' from the train. It's the sheer....hostility? Rejection? from the world's very life-force, pressing in around them. In his long life, he may have felt something like it before, but never had it seemed so utterly total in its presence.
Yet the Ascian will jump down to the island and attempt to get his bearings. Hostile aether or not, there was a need to check for more obvious and upfront threats in the tall grass. Predators, native life. Pokemon Trainers Or even something from the threat they are here to combat.
He draws the sword he borrowed. Not to use it to cut through the vegetation, but to guard those who are seeking to clear it. In a space wide enough to do so, he also straps on the shield and settles into a few easy maneuvers, seeking to test the limitations. The host vessel may have preferred an axe as their armament but Elidibus does know a thing or two about a lot of weapons. Sword and shield are just as familiar to the Ascian.
Of course the problem lies with the maneuvers themselves; from a world which harnesses energy through their martial actions as well as magical, it's not overlong before a small explosion occurs as a press of energy is violently rejected by the world's ambient aether. It's enough to stagger Elidibus, dropping him to one knee and causing him to shake his head a bit from the backlash. Fortunately he had been holding back and it shouldn't affect anyone who wasn't actually in the reach of the sword in the first place. But he's less than pleased to find out he has to hold back even further.
Or will be, once he's done shaking off the metaphorical punch.
b. Elidibus had disappeared for a short period of time, though some may have seen him talking to the statue.
When he returns, he looks tired from the experience. Which means it's well and good that the settlement has been found and space has been landscaped enough to establish the base encampment. He won't have to help further with that. Sure a tent will be needed but.... yes, that can wait. Instead he goes to find some of the others who intended to go to the West Island, meaning to invite them to gather up so they can discuss the plan on how to get over there.
Were you someone who might have spoke to him on the train? Just interested in attending the meeting? Were talking about it as he passed by? He's sure to ask you, but he won't insist that you come to the gathering.
Especially as some of the plans that could have been discussed or thought of previously obviously won't work here.
Once he's found enough to make a group, a place will be found to settle down and chat.
"I want to first start by saying I'll not be capable of transferring people to the island. Even if it didn't result in potential hazard, there's a strong possibility we will end up far from the desired location." And/or midair, just for a nonspecific example.
"Has anyone else arrived at a plan while I was away?"
3. Investigation Recruitment: West Island Enclosure - Open to Red Team and Those Going With
Once a group had been formed and gotten access to the west island, the Ascian had been present to accompany them. And so matters stood when they reached the enclosure. It gave him pause and not just because of the feeling of threat.
Elidibus is hesitant to simply move on despite the danger of the markers surrounding the enclosure impress. Or is the threat something from deeper in? It's hard to say, which would be vexing to admit aloud but something the Ascian has come to accept about this world.
It's not foolish curiousity that causes him to speak, but the sense of someone (something?) asking for help. Is it perhaps familiar in nature to the entity he met at the place of their arrival?
Even if he could not tell, someone calling for aid is not something he finds himself able to easily ignore. In a more pragmatic way, the man also considers it something that may benefit their relations with the natives; whether by saving a soul or ending a threat.
"I believe there is something within that seeks aid. Would anyone be willing to accompany me into the village to seek out the source?"
