Being magical on this world doesn't mean one can be more helpful. Thanatos brought a book he purchased from the train because he assumed he'd be some level of useless again on this mission. He's right.

"I know how to sew, and if people bring me these to fix, at least I'm doing something besides listening on the SCA on this mission." Thanatos knots this thread and cuts the excess with his sword. He's probably one of the few who would use a blade which cuts souls away from their body to also cut simple cotton thread. (Earlier, it was grass.)
