Wings of Wonder: Ongoing
"We do not apologise for acting to protect our own. But Hemla has given you their trust, and we will pay back on the debt of any harm given. You say you are here to help - then do. We will lend out resources needed, but expect to see results. Help at the farm, help us investigate - help in whatever way your talents provide.
'Give, get back' -- this is the way of our people. Every person has a purpose, a place, a skill. In return, speak to us your cost.
If you truly have the power to help, then you will be respected. We would expect the same rules to be applied to us."
Despite rough beginnings, relations between the Voidtreckers and the sali people are neutral. They do not fully trust the Voidtreckers, will not allow mindless entry into the East village (Nossofh as they call it -- 'Home'), and visits inside the commune building in the South will be limited. However, appointments with the sage can be made for those who have some skill with crystals, magics, and energies. Those who have spoken with the Forever One on the arrival island may also be granted access, if they wish to speak.
They will have tasks for the Voidtreckers to do, jobs that are necessary. Sali will be doing the same, and will be working within the same spaces at them. They will not stop Voidtreckers from setting up camps and give permission for them to settle on the centre island, under Helma's - the Forever One - protection.
While there may be some tensions, the sali will not attack the Voidtreckers. But now, plans must be made how to proceed, as the skies from the south bleed red...
WINGS OF WONDER: ONGOING
A TL;DR notes version of event/prompts: (click to show)
EVENT BASICS:
- Contact with the sali has been made, and relations have come out neutral. The North and East bridges have been fixed by Voidtreckers, with materials sent to the South too by them.
Ongoing runs through N8 to N11, when the finale also starts. The following is a TL;DR for what will be going on at the islands, at the time.
NORTH: Fixing the aircraft found on top of the mountain, finding missing sali in the woods, dead and alive. Helping to transport goods to the aircraft so it can be fixed, and also spruced up/modified. Also still good for fighting characters.
EAST: This is where you send characters who would want to work on designs, magical crafting and so forth. They won't be in close contact with the rest of the Voidtreckers, but is good for nerds. Voidtreckers who help here will be allowed to ride mounts to the central island if they leave, as the sali recognise they will be too exhausted otherwise. And so you guys can still have threads with other people.
SOUTH: Birds will be mainly coming from this direction, so fighters can still do patrols. Mainly needs those willing to do labour, rear animals, skin dead animals and so forth. Characters can also get involved with repairing clothes, washing and cleaning, if they can't last long doing land work.
WEST: The Reds that went this way will have found out that going through the interior or around will not get them far, and more birds showing up makes the area more dangerous. On N8, there is an operation shared with the Voidtreckers that they are doing a mass transport of goods from the West, to take North. Help fighting off the birds they attract is needed. From then on, it's better advised to stick to the other islands. Reds who like to just fight will be good in the South as patrol.

WORK TO DO. There is much to be done. Buildings need to be fixed, places need restored after the storms. But more than that the general needs of life don't stop. Farms need tending, animals need caring for. There are jobs for anyone willing to work.
The different islands need the following:
NORTH ISLAND: Fighters, those willing to labour and repair, and those willing to search are needed.
EAST ISLAND: Those with experience in magic and energy, crafting (making designs, modifying; blueprinting is involved) are needed.
SOUTH ISLAND: Fighters, those willing to help out with farm work, meat skinning, clearing up the surrounding farm area. Also those who can push back the birds.
WEST ISLAND: Fighters, during N8. There is help needed to protect the sali as they transfer materials and the Forever One stationed there, and to rebuild the bridge. Otherwise, the island will be deserted while plans are made by N9.
CENTRAL/ARRIVAL ISLAND: There isn't much that's needed but for birds to be taken down who might hover over, or get attracted by activity. Those who can supply Hemla with energy are appreciated. The sali here will act as communicators to other sali for Voidtreckers who don't want to make long journeys.
Voidtreckers should decide what will be a better use of their skills, and move accordingly. While faster methods may be found over time, initially, using those who can flight and walking are the only options. The North and East bridges have been patched up, and the South Island has materials for the bridge. West's bridge will be fixed by morning of N8.

ON ARRIVAL ISLAND. Five sali will come on N7 to fix up the broken buildings here, using the cuttings of the long grass, and drying them out with their own talents. They will accept help in doing this, and will offer to show a few Voidtreckers what to do, but will expect them to fix up the rest themselves, unless they offer services for help. A few of the buildings may make a good resting point, with an enclosure to keep off the wind and a cooking hole to sit around, but Voidtreckers will find their attentions split between the islands. Still, the centre island is only of important as a crossing point, and for the Forever One that stays there. There will not be too much activity here over the next few days. Voidtreckers are welcomed to camp here, and sali will also come through here, helping to move the leftover overgrowth, moving through the two areas. The South and West bridges still need fixing (while the East and North bridges have been taken care of).
FOREVER ONE: HEMLA. Two sali stay after the rebuilding on N7, to take care and help Hemla. Hemla is distracted, attempting to work on the energy problem for Voidtreckers, and keep the island safe. But the Forever One will take time for anyone who wishes to speak to them, and will accept help and energy. By the morning of N8, they will have a request. The sali will explain it to any Voidtreckers who come through the island, holding out clear white crystal stones. Hemla is attempting to harmonise their energy and the world's, at least with a middleman in the form of stone. They warn there will be possible side-effects, and ask Voidtreckers to only take one at a time, and to bring it back later.
Through days N8-10, these crystals will have a variety of effects, lessening over time. Those with magical skills/who use energy are asked to take one. They will need to supply Hemla some power, and then after carry it on them. The possible side-effects are:- Dizziness
They don't last more than a day but it might be best they find a buddy to watch over them whilst it does.
- Exhaustion
- Confusion
- Weakness

EAST VILLAGE/NOSSOFH. It is still a treck to reach the East Village, especially for those who don't have any way to fly or cover large distances; and for those that do, they will arrive exhausted.
The village is still very wary of the newcomers, and those that arrive are stopped and questioned. Those with legitimate business are allowed in and as the days go on more individual sali will be willing to exchange information or help. There are sali who will roam out with Voidtreckers to fight the birds, and those wishing to patrol the East Island will be told to help in the North or South - the sali of the island can cover the vital areas.
The two main areas of interest within the village are:
( SAGE'S HOUSE ) The invitation to help the energy weavers comes during the call on the SCAs on the morning of N8. Within the village is the sage's house, the largest building that sits in the centre, legs supporting where it has be built out over the hill. Voidtreckers are welcomed here if they ask, and those wishing to learn means of purifying the infected sali, and to help with their crystal research are best suited to come this way.
Those needed: magical experts, those strong of mind, volunteers with energy.
They will work amongst the sages, the sages in training, and the Forever Ones. In truth, these people are all one and the same, and Voidtreckers that come here will figure out quick. The Forever Ones sit, completely stone, while the sages are in various states, with limbs crystallising. They rarely speak, though the less-formed may do so with the Voidtreckers if inclined. However, those training are the ones that provide the needs of the more experienced, as well as speaking.
Working here will be difficult, exhausting on the mind and body. The sages-in-training will communicate and explain, but much of the work is done through telepathy, and crystal work - tools that will be difficult on the Voidtreckers. But it is good for the Voidtreckers to be here, so that their reactions to the crystals can be documented, as well as a way to keep them safe during their stay, and also their companions.
( CRAFTING SMITHIES ) While the Sage House works on energy and modifying crystals, for those with experience building, designing, modifying, they will find their talents more useful in supporting the creation of prototype weapons that the salis have planned.
A request for help in this will come on the third day (N8), through the hacked SCA channel. Anyone who believes they can help make efficient blueprints - and even make them better - are asked to come on down, and those with experience crafting. The plan is to make an equivalent of air cannons and air megaphones, using a mix of air and power gems. There is sure to be a lot of backfires, especially for the Voidtreckers. The sali will also be taking crystals adjusted by the sages that will hopefully allow the Voidtreckers to use the weapons being made too.
Suggestions from the Voidtreckers will be listened to, and there are other gems around, ones that can be made for specific functions.

STATE OF THE FARM. The South Island is a mess. There is a large clean-up operation in place and Voidtreckers that can help clean up and haul debris will be welcomed.
As well as the storm damage there are quite a lot of animals that have been killed, even by the storm directly or as a result of them turning and attacking the sali or Voidtreckers. The Sali are not ones to waste resources and so there is a drive to skin the animals and preserve the meat as quickly as possible. Any Voidtreckers who are willing to help will be paid in portions of meat.
FARMING, GARDENING. Here nature seems to have won the war. Many of the buildings look like they have been left to the wild for decades and not just a week or so. Buildings need fixed, plants need cut back and brought under control. Weeds need to be removed so that the plants for food can be allowed to thrive. Gardening at its most extreme, the first step is to identify which plants should be growing here and which ones are results of the Red Storm.
Many of the animals have escaped because plants burst open fences and gates. Rounding them up is one job, making sure there are enclosures to keep them is another. It's going to be a lot of hard work and of course the farm animals are not the only creatures out here, wild creatures will attack both the farm animals and any one else.
It's hard labour, but the sali will give to those that work with them. They will locate drinks safe for them, share the abundance of food, so they can see what agrees with their diets. They will answer questions about their people and their world during world and during breaks; and as the days go on, they will invite them inside to eat, or will join them at their own camp, bringing meals.
UNWANTED VISITORS. The birds still attack. Every day and night patrols are needed to fend off the constant threat of bird attack. The Sali have fighters stationed here too but there aren't enough, they need help.
The Forever One Enshala works to keep the red shroud from getting too close to the farmland but her power is still weak and so there are gaps in her defences. It is easy to get overwhelmed since the birds often flock together, concentrating on weak points and bringing the storm with them.
Keeping the storm away from the farm is vital, the Sali will share food and resources with any who join them in this constant vigilance.
FOREVER ONE: ENSHALA. There is a Forever One here, but unlike central island's welcoming Hemla, they will only speak to Voidtreckers depending on the subject. They will accept donations in energy, but otherwise they work hard to try and keep the island safe, to push back the red storms they return again through the days, birds carrying it on their wings.

NORTHERN. The sali will explain an expedition was taking place, to investigate the North Island in general. The group must have been assaulted by the red storm - the birds - while travelling, and crashed, scattering the survivors with the infliction of red storm.
MISSING. Help is needed to locate the still-missing sali, both dead and alive. Any Voidtreckers who offer to help will be asked their methods- the Sali want no harm coming to their own. They will hand out blow darts with sleeping powder laced bark stems and they will be asked to either bind or leave behind any powerful weapons. Especially powerful weapons that the Sali don't recognise like guns.
The sali will set up a small camp by the woods, where sali can be brought, dead or alive, to be transported by cart. There will also be one above on the mountain, trained sali using air-crystals to push back the lingering red storm from the site.
AIRSHIP, SUPPLIES. Hearing that the ship is still on ground, the Sali are keen to fix it up. Its state is no problem, and they believe it's the answer to meeting the birds head on. Initially on N7 to halfway through N8, materials will need to be transported by climbing gear and going through the forest.
However, they will then have access to carrier airships. With a crate/carrying space on the bottom, and a space on top for two people two sit, only so much material can be lifted up at a time. Voidtreckers will not be able to immediately, but by N9, and by being a familiar face, those who want to fly the ships can*. These can also be used to transport anyone from the upper mountain, to down.
Once the metal and materials are at the air ship, it's going to be all hands on deck to fix it together.
(* some of the mini-ships have a prototype attached that allows the air gems to be activated by the sound of music. singing, guitar playing - there's even an alboka and taepyeongso-esque instruments already attached on some, acting as a steeing wheel. )

WESTERN. The Reds find that their attempts to infiltrate the mountain from the inside will not go far, with dead ends and the red shroud finding ways in. More birds come from the south and even west, spreading the shroud farther around the mountain.
Another method must be found. Fortunately however, it will not be an entirely useless endeavour, as help is needed - one that promises a fight.
TRANSPORT. The sali in the enclosure and those who come from the village to help need aid bringing supplies from the enclosures, and also extra of the metal trees (from the White Forest), repair equipment, to take to the North island.
This island is still circled by birds, so those gathering and packing supplies onto transport air carriers - small boxy airships with a lower crate area and an upper navigating section, no bigger than cars - will need fighters to take down the birds as they follow after them.
Bow and arrows can be exchanged, as the salis know how to operate the air carriers. They are also transporting the Forever One of the West Island, so the cargo is fairly precious to the sali.

Ongoing starts on N8 and goes until around morning-noon of N11. Finale goes up on 21st September (later N11-N12).
This log gives more of an indication of what's going on, to let you play out going ons, or imply them in the background and focus on what you want for Ongoing. Consider putting in Island locations than team colours into headers.
Remember to let us know anything your character does/might want do under shennanigans! Any conversations you want to handwave with the sali or Forever Ones can also be brought up here for discussion. Actual threads can be requested here.

Lea | Blue Guesting with Purple | North/East | OTA
Gathering supplies was hardly the most exciting task, but it was one Lea could do, and so determinedly set to it. He found himself curious about both the metals and plant materials being used, asking the Sali they were working with questions as he worked.
As as the daylight began to fade, he also offered to help with the cooking around camp, both for Sali the and his fellow Voidtreckers as needed. He wasn't familiar with any particular local recipes, of course, but things like cutting up vegetables, or heating a pot for soup were fairly universal, and provided plenty of opportunity to talk to Sali and fellow Voidtreckers alike.
East- Crafting
Once the repair work on the ships started in earnest though, Lea found himself in the way more often than not, and so headed down to the East island to offer his services to those crafting weapons. He'd never made anything this large with his Forging in Diatu, but the basic idea was similar enough that he was able to apply his skills to the weapons' construction.
"Man, I bet Dilan would love this," he said, examining one of the partly completed air weapons. "Well, as much as he loves anything, anyway." Though however Dilan might have felt in the situation, Lea frowned at something he saw in the device. "Hmm... That doesn't look quite right... Can you hand me that blueprint for a sec?" He indicated a blueprint for the device that was sitting on a nearby table to the person between himself and it.
Airship, Supplies
"This... this isn't a bad job."
Look, no one is trying to mess with his mind, and while the lack of magic and occasional wildlife attacks and very disoriented sali trasp are a problem, it's at least a familiar one.

Lan Xichen | mdzs | Orange somewhat guesting with Blue | Arrival island and North island
With Hemla working to find a way for voidtreckers to be able to use their full abilities with less danger, Xichen is absolutely willing to help, both with energy shared with the Forever One and with carrying a crystal for experimentation.
He will not... show any indication of the discomfort, mostly dizziness and weakness, other than being a little paler than usual, though he will describe what he experienced to the Forever One.
North Island - seeking those missing
There is also much work to be done elsewhere, and missing sali are absolutely an important priority. Whether to rescue any still alive, or to return those dead to their families to be taken care of and find peace, all are important.
Cultivators' bodies are working to their maximum abilities, so he has good eyes and ears along with everything else - not preternatural, but good. He pauses in the trek, tilting his head slightly.
"There seems to be something out of place over there." He points a decent distance off. "Let us go check it out?"
North Island - relocating supplies
On the day when the effect of Hemla's crystal are the worst, Xichen decides to... not create more trouble for anyone who might need to be rescuing him and instead opts to assist with the much simpler task of loading and unloading of supplies. Even weakened, he is pretty strong, so he can work longer and more effectively than a normal person.
If he sees someone is pushing himself, he will step closer and say, gently, "be careful. Take a rest if you need to."

relocating supplies
"It's alright! I'm making sure to rest." It's not like he's skipping out on sleep, after all. "But we've got only a limited time here, right? I want to make sure we leave things behind better than we found them."
He shakes his head.
"Still.. Thanks for being concerned, Zewu-jun!"

As if she needed guns to kill. But this wasn't a killing mission, it was a rescue mission. Or a body collecting mission.

"We can be going."

Ryo | Orange going with Blue | South
Oddly enough, even with his magic functioning below capacity, Ryo is still right at home here. This is the kind of work he understands - that he's familiar with - and he can be found hard at work.
Maybe you find him gardening - he'd spent some amount of time learning which plants belong here and which are a result of the storm, and he's working on uprooting the intruders before anything else. "Can you give me a hand with this one? It's being stubborn."
Maybe you find him kneeling in front of one of the dead animals, knife in hand. He's dressed rabbit and deer before, and in practice, the herd animals here aren't too terribly different. If you seem amenable, he may ask your help turning over an animal that's too big to handle, or further opening it up; if you look like you're about to be sick, he'll send you away. This isn't for everyone and he knows it.
Of course, a healer's work never ends, and he can also be found tending to the injured after they return from the storm front. "Here, let me take a look at that."
2. Calling In Sick
He takes a crystal.
Of course he does - he'd retrieved a crystal for Helma before so they could help Potato, so he thinks he knows what he's in for and he trusts Hemla's judgment.
It's...miserable, honestly. It's like being sick, and the cure is to just not carry the crystal anymore, but that would defeat the point.
So the day he carries the crystal is the day when he curls up under a tree, blanket wrapped around his shoulders, and doesn't move a whole lot. He's happy to guide people through gardening; for the more intrepid sorts, he'll also talk them through dressing one of the fallen animals. If all else fails, he has a pile of mending that needs to be done next to him, and he's working his way slowly through it. Are you carrying a crystal too? Sit under the tree, pick some mending up off the pile, and join him for a stitch 'n' bitch. (He won't call it that, but that is absolutely what it is.)
Or maybe you find him feeling poorly, blanket pulled up over his head like a hood and water bottle clutched in his hands, when the symptoms get to be a bit too much to power through. He's fatigued, he's lightheaded, and knowing that he volunteered for this doesn't make it any better.
Skinning and Dressing etc.
Ryo is handling a big... whatsit. Whatever these things are called. Fluffalos? It won't matter in a week so he doesn't care. But he figured it's a free meal if they don't need the brain. Maybe not free but not like he needs to help a lot.
"Here, I got it." Murphy says when he notes it needs turned, walking over and flipping it pretty easy. He's pretty strong for a guy that doesn't necessarily like to fight. "They got you on butcher detail?"

Usagi Tsukino | Purple guesting as Orange | East
This trip has been terrible. Oh, sure, she made sure to get the climbing gear just in case, but deciding to transform into Sailor Moon to make the trek to the East village was a poor one. Not only had this world practically nullified her other powers, just staying in her basic form was a chore as even that magic was too advanced and it wanted to revert to ribbons from time to time.
Combine all that with the walk to the village and the sheer exhaustion of it all caused Usagi to just collapse on her back.
"I... am never... doing that again." she groaned.
Crafting Smithies
"I like the idea of building these weapons, but I feel like maybe this is a little more complicated?"
Usagi looked over the air microphone that she had built using the initial plans. If she was going to help these people, she needed to know how things worked. Taking the microphone outside, Usagi aimed upwards and fired the weapon.
You could easily see the girl getting blown off her feet and crash against some rocks in a heap.
"...t-too complicated..."
East
He can't smell blood and so her collapse is not likely from a wound. Still he crouches next to her and looks her over.
"Can you hear me?"

Tidus ; WEST to NORTH
It's not really quick when they figure out climbing the mountain - outside or in - is going nowhere, considering most missions suck when you're with Red. But Tidus isn't one to argue when word goes round about turning around, that the sali plan to shift resources to where they're needed, than let the birds pick them off without much fight.
2; north island, arrivalIt's safer than it was to move around the enclosure, but it makes Tidus dizzy in a way he'd rather avoid, keeping guard of the entrances, watching the bird movements above. They'll get a lot more attention soon, but Tidus isn't looking to get it earlier than they need by firing randomly in the air.
He'll give any other person around a nod, commenting, as he looks up again at the red sky. It looks thicker than the last time he was out here.
"Hope these guys have a good idea. Half their stuff just makes me feel weird."
He shows up on the back of one of the mini-carriers, covered up in a coat with the collar covering his cheeks, but he's still freezing. He hops off, a gun disappearing out of his hands so he can rub them together, do a little jig with his feet, trying to warm them up.
3; north island; finding the missing"Ughhh. This place is cold!"
'Sup, other Northern goers. Supplies have arrived with one (1) Tidus.
Fixing airships? No thanks. Tidus leaves it to the smart people to work at that, and finds a (somewhat) warmer job in the forest, as large as some of the mountains he's seen. He'll go with company happily, but also, he doesn't have a clue about the types of traps to watch out for - slick branches to throw them off into webbings below (or, dangling from a vine, going, "Hheeeyy! Heelllo?!"), tripwires connected to logs aimed for one's head, and vines covered in burning substances.
4; north island, nightThankfully for that middle one, Tidus has the reflexes then to duck himself, and any company with him.
...less fortunately for that last one, is how much it hurts, taking a time-out so he can try applying something to it.
Don't mind him just sitting on a tree branch, pouting over his hand turning red. It huuuurts...!!
It's easier to stay top-side than to go down anywhere - even most of the sali this way agree to that. A good deal of the sali sit around next to the Forever One Shrinlo, discussing work, what they'll do when they get back to the West Island.
wildcard? wildcard!!Tidus is happy to sit with another Voidtrecker to eat and drink, a coat on to keep warm. A friendly face or someone just around - he'll ask about what they've been doing the past two days, or ask, with a glance and nod in direction of the statue.
"So, uh... we know what the deal with them are? Is there someone in there?"
you know the dealio. for everything else, there's wildcard!!
2
Certainly not Inigo. Because he's pretty exhausted from having been working on these bridges ever since they started to spread out, so that's mostly still occupying his mind - especially when the work still isn't done!
But even that leaves his mind the moment Inigo hears that more people have arrived at the island, and so he immediately drops everything else he's doing to head over and see who showed up. Once he sees who's there, his speed increases into a true jog, and with a:
"Tidus!"
He's already throwing his arms around the other as he practically jumps on him. Better catch him, dude, or threaten to go down into a boys pile once more.
(Look, it's been a few days, clearly Inigo has all reason to greet him like an overly excited dog.)

Della Duck | Purple / North Island
[ So, what is an airship but another version of a plane? And Della has been without a plane for way, way, way too long. So, her first reaction to seeing it?
Outright sobbing.]
FINALYYYYY! OOOOH, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUUU-HUH-HUH-HUUUULLLL! THIS IS THE BEST WORLD WE'VE EVER BEEN TO! AHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!
[ Does she care that she's loudly making a scene as she's running up to it, hugging it, and continuing to wail in joy? Nope.
But for those of who you understandably want a much calmer prompt, when it's time to repair, Della can be seen fixing the ship - and amazingly enough, it looks like she knows what she's doing! She's humming happily as she works. ]
We'll have this baby up and air-borne in no time! Can you pass that hammer over?
no subject
SHe's managing to hold it together. Externally. Mostly.
Yeah that's a pretty big grin.]
Way better than the vacation world.

Death | Blue Mission |South
Some people might find Death's choice of task around here rather comic. But she's not a fighter. Never has been.
Tending a garden though? She can figure that out. And really, isn't pulling weeds a bit like what she does anyone? Knowing which plants need to be removed and which need to continue on growing.
Sometimes she chases after animals, but mostly she keeps finding her way back to the plants. Reaper and all that.
Though when she picks up a sickle she can't help shaking her head. "If my brother ever shows up, not a word about this."
no subject
He looks up when she picks up a sickle. "Okay." And then, because he can't help but ask, "Who's your brother?"

lan jingyi | purple | west & north
north, naked and afraid edition
Sometimes though, even the best of fighters have creatures get the jump on them, but he's thankfully got a quick enough reaction time, it takes little effort for him to leap forward, pivot on the ball of his left foot, shift his right side and narrowly avoid a large claw coming down right where he'd been standing moments ago. “Jingyi, you—!” Sizhui hesitates, fingers tightening around his sword-hilt while he shoves himself further backward, widened eyes watching again as another claw pierces the earth inches away from his feet.
As the oversized spider comes for another strike is when Jingyi's sword catches it, just a few seconds faster than his own that he'd raised in preparation to defend himself, which is something he's immediately forgoing to instead suddenly notice: his best friend is stark naked, going toe-to-toe with this foreign beastie. “You're naked,” he sighs emphatically, even though it also makes him half-smirk, something he didn't realize he needed until now. Nevertheless, his attention is right back on the task at hand, the end of his sword coming up and slicing through some webbing the spider shoots Jingyi's way, effectively derailing its attempt at rendering him motionless.

Leia Organa | Blue Team | Arrival/East | OTA
When asked to take a crystal, Leia willingly accepted. When it came to repair work, what she could do without the Force or Bending functioning normally was limited, but she could certainly put her connection to the Force to use by offering Helma some energy. The effects didn't hit her all at once, so for awhile she sat and helped with trimming and bundling the grasses for those who were doing the more direct repair work. But eventually she became unfocused enough that having her using a trimming knife was deemed too hazardous to herself and those nearest to her, and she was sent back to the camp to rest.
Once there, she collected a bottle of water and some food that required little effort to eat, then headed for a nearby tent. Unfortunately, there was already someone present there when she ducked inside. "I don't mean to intrude," she said, "but mind if I join you? They weren't kidding about the effects of those crystals..."
East- Sage's House
Once she'd gotten through the worst of the crystal's side effects, Leia opted to pay a visit to the Sages to see if she could be of any help there. Learning the origins of the Forever Ones was fascinating, and a tiny bit disturbing, at least to her. But she was in no position to judge, and since all of them seemed to be more than willing, she accepted it; she could admire their conviction even if she didn't share it.
Otherwise, she was willing to help however she could with the energy weaving and crystal calibration however was needed.
Arrival
He had so far avoided any areas of fighting, he had helped move people around until his work with the crystals had made flying all but impossible.
He heard the voice outside of the tent he was inside of and looked up as Leia entered.
"Of course... I don't mind."

Thanatos | Red but... | South for now
So, Thanatos could be found on the south island, taking care of tasks there. He's still acting as a point of contact for information, even if he's taking notes about things he doesn't fully understand. He can also be found trying to scythe the overgrown grass or mending holes in clothing. It should be noted that he's avoiding interacting with the sali as if he fears ruining relations and others' work to build trust.
When someone approaches him, he'll look up from his work and ask, "How has the mission been going for you?"
no subject
He can Sense Thanatos, and he sees him close by with mending of his own, and...you know what, good enough. He heads over, slowly, and carefully takes a seat - near enough to Thanatos to talk, but not as close as he would normally be, in case the crystal starts affecting Thanatos too. He doesn't want to take that risk.
Now he just needs to work through the brain fog and think of something to say.
"...hi."
...good enough.
...today is going to be a whole lot of good enough, isn't it.
Tucked into Ryo's satchel, Lagos breaks his silence for the first time this mission. He'd been told that birds were the problem, and Ryo hadn't wanted anyone to blame Lagos, so he'd kept quiet, but...look, Thanatos is here, which means Mort probably is too. Lagos lets out the quietest warble he's ever managed in his short existence. Hey, Mort. You there?

kyoko (purple) | private threads
OOC notes:
CW: suicidal ideation, mental spiral, and long text.
tl;dr -- Kyoko used more magic on the train than she should have. She tried to be good and not use as much magic on mission, but when on patrol, she got swarmed by birds and had to use magic just to survive. Now her Soul Gem is heavily polluted, and she can't run away from her feelings (about Mami leaving and about her personal failings) any more. Ultimately, she decides to use her SCA to call out for help (link here).
This TL will be a hub for action threads relating to this situation.
Recovery Starter
People don't die here permenantly. It doesn't matter. He's experienced it once. She's experienced it once. Even if people return, if the fear that comes with death doesn't get to you, the natural inclination for your body to not want to stop, then it's having to accept that death is the best way for the fear and the pain to stop to, what, just come back? After being relieved at it?
A damaged mind doesn't need that much more added onto it. He's seen what's in there. That little girl is damaged. Strong, roughly woven together, practical, but even the sturdiest classic can only take so much of a beating.
Yondu's already lost enough for this month. He's got a make-shift spear he made just for dealing with the damned birds and for helping him navigate rough terrain. He's got a wheat hook to cut a path directly in her direction. He's got a focused goal to get down there to her 'cause he knows that she called for him specifically for a reason. That he, somehow, had proven himself dependable to her and right now she cannot be let down. Not after the emotional hell she's gone through.
She may have not initially trusted him with it, it might have been forced out of her, but she'd let him have it. She'd trusted him with her tarnished history. She let him walk her away from a manifestation of her guilt.
He checks his SCA as he gets closer to the area she said, and finally he starts whistling. It's an old Centaurian song, one from the collection that Soldat had given him, one about the dark of a forest's shadow and the dark of caves and both are a home rather than to be feared. But with a language that's musical rather than sung, the meaning is glossed over in sound rather than specific words. Subject aside, he chooses that one because it's meant to be loud and it's meant to carry. It's meant for calls and responses.
It might attract the attention of the birds but he's ready for them, fighting his way through brush as he narrows in on that location, hoping to hear her voice call out before he fails her.

Taiki | Closed Prompts
For Inigo (and probably Tidus later)
Fighting was never right, but these missions could not be successful without fighting. If no one fought then the people of these worlds they journeyed to would perish and that was a terrible thing.
But even if their tasks kept them apart Taiki tried to at least keep track of where his friends were. Inigo especially. He knew his friend often pushed himself far too hard on missions.
So here he was, approaching where Inigo was working on a bridge, a food parcel in his hands.
"How is it going?"

Little One | North Island
Armed with a blow dart she moves through the forest as quietly as she can, keeping her ears out for threats or evidence of Sali nearby and her eyes peeled for bodies.
She doesn't know exactly what is going on but she understands that the storm has affected some of the Sali and made them act weird. She knows how that is. She's still furious about her mind being played with on the last few missions and so if knocking a few Sali out and dragging them back will save them from whatever is going on then she will do that.
So she stalks through the trees, ready and waiting.
A sticky Situation (CW: Spiders)
She had climbed up into the tree tops to avoid one of the weird green antlered deer and she made her way quietly across branches. The trees were close enough together that it made it easy for her to move from tree to tree.
Tree running was different than roof running but she was doing fine until the branch beneath her snapped with a loud crack. She gasped as she plummeted but instead of the pain of hitting the ground she finds herself landing in something soft.
Strange. But lucky. Or at least she thinks so until she tries to move, finding herself stuck. Webs. She's knows what these are, she shared a train with the spider woman until she walked from the platform.
She goes still, stopping her struggle lest she tangles more. She can hear skittering from not too far away.

Zelgadis | Purple | North/Arrival |OTA
Well, finally having the locals on their side and having some explanation of why the initial hostilities helped. Granted, going from exploring the forests to being a pack mule was… well, it was a break, but Zelgadis didn’t mind getting exercise and he was on the strong side. Hence helping to carry materials up the mountain to help the Sali repair their airship.
So, see him halfway up, a bunch of bundles strapped to his back, trying not to fall off perfectly good mountains in a climbing harness.
“I hate not having magic.”
N8: Arrival Island
After the sali got enough of their own equipment working to not require Voidtrekkers to manually haul things up a mountain, Zelgadis needed a break. So he offered to help with the energy harmonization on the arrival island. Not like his magic was doing much good.
Which meant that he was half passed out in one of their shelters staring at the ceiling. “Is the island moving?”
N10-11: Airship Supplies Redux (North)
After taking a day to recover, Zelgadis returned to the north island. He figured he could find something to do. He’d been intending on locating missing sali, but someone had mentioned that Zelgadis could carry a tune and actually was musically inclined. Which meant he could operate the small airships hauling people and supplies on hand.
So, meet your taxi/truck driver. “Any requests beyond get this up the mountain fast?”
N8 - Arrival Island
"No," says Elidibus. He'd been passing by when his fellow passenger had spoken up. "At least no more than you would expect an island suspended in the clouds to move." The man then frowns and studies Zelgadis a moment.
"Are you in possession of one of Hemla's crystals? Perhaps it is time to return it."
There's a feeling that it's more advice than direct concern. Yet Elidibus lingers, studying the half-conscious chimera as if he could ascertain an individual's well-being based on sight alone.
Well, to an extent he can but that's neither here not there.

Guri | Purple | North Island | OPEN!
It hadn't hurt that the Sali had attempted to dart her on sight - the fact that she came, unarmed and unharmed, from the experience seemed to throw them off enough to give her the opening.
She was an expert tracker. And she didn't need to sleep, didn't need to eat - though she was finding more dead than alive, to her consternation. She didn't like being too late. What made it worse was that she was having particularly little success finding what was killing them - some of these, she reasoned, had to be unnatural deaths.
But it was grim work, and she had been...well. Not as chipper as she had been. Not cold - she knew where that path might take her, thank you - but more solemn. Less talkative. Her curiosity, to those who knew her well, more reserved than once it had been.
In the moment, she can be found gently laying an injured found person in the cart.
"This one needs immediate attention," she says, with a sigh.
no subject
"Whatever exactly these storms are, they have to be powerful." It can't just be birds, right? No matter how powerful they are, they just can't be strong enough to do this to an entire airship filled with people. "How else would all these people have gotten injured because of it?"

Amaya | South Island | OPEN!
She takes command of anyone who will listen - the damage is great, and she knows full well of the threat to follow - carcasses breed disease. That becomes top priority, and though the Sali are quite adept at field-stripping them, she works to institute a systematic approach, using hand gestures and the old-fashioned approach of simply not taking no for an answer.
She'd likely be challenged if she weren't putting her back into everything being done. Her tunic shirt, found on arrival, is sweat through, and her skin glistens with sweat - and yet, she doesn't stop. For every command, she gives a helping hand - the key is making sure the carcasses are moved, and quickly, to gathering points far from water sources. The stripping can then work at a better pace.
She pauses, stretching, hands on her lower back. It's definitely hot work. But it's better than battle, at least.
Farming/Gardening
Her efforts bear more pleasant fruit. Again, she is one of nature's organizers, and wherever it is needed, she gives it. She herself concentrates on chopping back vegetation, cutting away storm-damaged branches.
She can be found in a break, sitting on an uprooted stump with a mug in her hand. A Sali is just finishing telling her a story of their people, using their own version of sign. Amaya occasionally glances at her SCA for translation, but she's learning quickly. The Sali departs shortly afterwards, with Amaya raising her mug in acknowledgement as they go.
Unwanted Visitors
Of course, battle finds her eventually. Gods only knows it always will. It is here that her command experience is, perhaps, of the most use. She quite simply takes command of anybody nearby - some are directed to ensure civilians get under cover, others to form up with other armed resistance - formations, she knows, stand a better chance; and can use the terrain to focus their efforts and not worry about their rear or flanks.
Still, it is...unnatural work. And she has to ignore her own dictums - at least, once. She spots a young sali, clearly wounded, birds bearing down on them. They won't make it to cover, not in time. And so Amaya breaks ranks from her organized fighters.
Someone watching it will see the flash of steel as her sword is slid free of its scabbard, her other hand bringing the pointed shield to bear. She powers forward, silent as death, and her first strike cuts through a bird that is just perching itself on the sali's back. The others rear up, unnatural sounds unheard by their newfound opponent.
One dives at her; is smacked aside by her shield - another meets her sword. She puts herself between the wounded sali and the birds, but it's clear that for all her speed and strength - help would be appreciated.
FarmingGardening whooooo
A story, is totally something that can be traded though, so Potato's been listening. ...Watching.
It's all watching...
"I didn't know you could make picture stories with hands..." Reading Potato's lips might be tricky, given they're...not quite lips, but SCAs are fortunately there for a reason. Fortunately.

Ongoing OTA - Arrival Island, N8 | East Island Sage School, Late N8~
On the day the sali explain about the crystals and Hemla's request, Elidibus may be seen taking one. His two day tour around the islands has already given him reason enough to follow advice. So he'd taken one, studied it like he studied all things, but also went around his business.
Even if the camp was only a waypoint for the Voidtreckers, there was still work to be done to keep it maintained. Giving advice, taking on a task or even learning a new skill from the sali are some of the things he might be seen doing. Only an occasion or two between these events could he have been caught paused, brow furrowed as if trying to puzzle through a problem before shaking it off and continuing.
Those that know him might then miss his presence in the early afternoon. The Ascian had realized the crystal's effects were catching up to him finally and had determined to work quietly to the side somewhere. Drying grass or placing important observations to his notebook. Or...
He can be found with his back braced against a small tree in a place that has been cleared of the tall grasses. Still in sight and range of the camp, but with just enough of an upward slope to keep his vantage out of direct sight. Elidibus is also quite thoroughly asleep.
Fear not, there is no real danger here. No purple flowers or sickly pallor. Sword and shield are resting within easy reach. Yet the breeze had been oddly nice and noteworthy observations had become small sketches over a spread of two lined pages in the notebook every Voidtrecker had been provided with at the beginning of their journey. While not master artist, the Ascian does have enough of an eye for the task. Natives to this world, people on the train, a few things from his world.
In time, the crystal's side-effects of confusion, weakness and exhaustion had taken their toll and led him to drift off to what appears to be an unguarded sleep. The expression of his borrowed body is for once- at least while it's been in his possession- peaceful. A hand rests on the open notebook and a wind lightly flutters the pages as if it's trying to somehow escape.
2. East Island - Sage's School: Nebula 8~
Once the invitation to the sage's school had opened, Elidibus had been swift to take up the invitation. Well, once he'd recovered enough from his ordeal under the first of Hemla's crystal in any event. But the school is where his interests currently lie; in finding out more regarding the world's laws, its aether and methods.
What better place than here? For Elidibus, the manipulation of aether is a birthright and something that's been trained since infancy. Teaching the fundamentals would be akin to teaching a fish to swim. But there is a lot to learn when the energy is spewing out the language-equivalent of random wingdings and the environment itself is mentally and 'physically' taxing.
Still, besides Elidibus's capability to learn there are other things he can aid with. Helping others communicate with the sages and Forever Ones, even teaching and demonstrating to the sali who wish to learn and observe, the methods of an 'outsider'; something that could bring to mind the image of academics from two different schools comparing notes and seeing what can be incorporated into the others' methodology. With twelve thousand years of experience, it's likely there's something Elidibus can 'give' as payment for what he learns.
The Ascian had not been unduly surprised to learn the origins of the Forever Ones. Perhaps not entirely the 'ascended' beings he'd considered at first, but intriguing nonetheless. And worthy of respect for their willingness to give so much for the care of their world. Those who have talked to or heard Elidibus talking before may notice there's more... engagement in conversation with the sages than usual. The man who often comports himself with a vague detachment from those around him has if it can be called nothing else, warmed up to the sali, relatively speaking.
However Elidibus does not neglect his fellow passengers. Detached or not in manner, he does keep an eye on those who have come to the school. His reasoning may be biased; that if he's still learning his limits on this world the others are likely faring worse. But should he catch someone flagging a little, he'll approach. If not concern exactly, it's at least dutiful.
"How are you faring?" he'll ask. Or something like it; whatever will catch the person's attention without catastrophic results.
3. Wildcard (Elidibus will be sidetracked on N9 for Purple Kyoko's rescue.)
East Island
Which all led to him currently being half asleep on his feet.
He smiles blearily and waves at Eldibius.
"Oh hey, long time no see. Everything's cool here."
Define cool, Danny.
Not in desperate need of a nap?
Clearly not a nap. A full 8 hours sleep on the other hand, still on the table.

Lan Wangji | Blue Team
He has spent most of this mission very quietly exploring and taking mental notes of what has been happening around them and to the islands. When necessary he has fought to protect those whenever strange creatures have tried to get too close. But he was smart enough to realize early that the Sali were not the enemy and to not harm them.
As he came upon the East Island, he followed others towards the Sage House. He knew that he fit much of the criteria they seemed to be looking for. Since meditation and his own mental strength were things that were important in his growth, Lan wangji was not afraid to assist.
And his Lan strength seemed well suited to using the tools necessary to work with the crystals. But even that starts to give out towards the end of each day as the toll finally hits his body. But still he comes back and resumes the work the next day. As one day starts to draw to a close, he notices that many of the other workers are also starting to appear fatigued. He collects a drink and brings it over, reaching out to hand it to the exhausted worker.
"Rest."

Rest is simple when there is time for it. Xichen is aware that they have limited supply of it here, in helping the Sali and the Sages. That is why he'd volunteered to help, had taken a crystal and worked to stabilize. Himself, others.
The dizziness and exhaustion grew worse at the end of the day, though after the first the confusion had mostly passed. Yet each day he worked, making sure that he helped others along the way. Time was short, but the truth of it was that Xichen took on this role even when time was plentiful ahead of him.
Back home, before he'd arrived on the platform, he'd managed to stretch himself just to the point where he wouldn't tear. He's surprised to hear his brother's voice next to him, though he's grateful as he turns and takes the drink offered to him. He looks down at it, a soft smile on his lips. "Would you grant me a few more minutes if I say I'm not so tired?" he offers, but there's a hint of amusement in that smile and gratefulness in his eyes toward the younger brother who is not the younger anymore.

Jin Ling | Purple | South Island
Jin Ling had never really done any sort of farming or gardening before but he's focused on trying to help wherever he can and this appears to be a needed service. With some help he's learned what plants need to be removed and can be found diligently working on that... or maybe he's pulling at something he shouldn't be...
Alternatively, he can be found searching for missing animals and trying to round them back up. Perhaps, you stumble upon Jin Ling as a wild animal appears seeming intent on attacking the farm animals Jin Ling is currently trying to herd.
At some point, Jin Ling takes a break, sitting at a camp on his own but graciously accepting a meal that was brought to him. He's exhausted but there's still so much left to do.

Re: Jin Ling | Purple | South Island
Nell might be out of her element with all the strangeness here, but one thing she knew was plants - even if any attempt to connect with the land ended poorly.
