The half-formed question doesn't even make it to Ryo's lips before Thanatos abruptly disappears, and for a moment Ryo just stares at the empty space.

Gods damn it all, he's done it again. He's just left a conversation.

"...REALLY?"

But getting angry and yelling at the empty space where Thanatos had been moments before isn't going to solve a damn thing, nor will it make him feel any better. He sighs and slowly gets to his feet, busying himself with gathering up the piles of mending - the one Thanatos had left behind and his own - and slowly carrying them to the shade of a tree. He settles back in and pulls one of the pieces onto his lap, threading a needle and grumbling. It's annoying at best, this habit of just leaving a conversation that Thanatos has, and there's nothing he can do about it here. It's not like the train - they're not in an enclosed space, and he can't just hunt Thanatos down and ask him what he meant, and there's no other way to talk to him-
