No Place Like Home: Outside
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: OUTSIDE
HOME SWEET HOME

You're somewhere familiar, or just - the last place you remember being before your life became tethered to the Voidtrecker Express. A field, a city, a kingdom, or perhaps even a space station. You should be nowhere, yet you find yourself somewhere, despite all odds.
People - if there are people - don't at first notice you; but attract enough attention to yourself, and that will all change. Friends, family - are they near, a phonecall away? It's either everything you wanted or everything you imagined (for good or worse), and it could seem unbelievably real. But it is real - you're off the train, back somewhere you know.
...If only.
You're moving away from where you arrived, for whatever reason. Who wouldn't? You may be far from home, have business elsewhere, or want to go sightseeing. It's time to return to - and live - your life, and that doesn't include sticking to one place.
But you'll find that when you reach a point, the world becomes...foggy. A fog that you hadn't seen in the distance before it appears, and when you walk through it, you'll find yourself in a place some have already found themselves in.
Because for some passengers, there was nowhere for them to return, and so the barriers lead only to fog, and then straight back onto the platform. The Voidtrecker Express may be stationed, or there may be a blanket of fog where it should be; sometimes, it can be caught trying to leave the station, only to come back a few minutes later. The doors are shut tight, and the windows are obscured, showing nothing inside.
Those who came from somewhere can go back, should they go through the turnstiles again. And if they want, they can take people along with them, too...
But sometimes, they go to a world no one knows. They go through the barriers into nothing, a black emptiness. Not space, for those that know space, and it doesn't seem to be the void either. But it is a void, devoid of anything at all. Just a darkness so complete they will not be able to see anything at all, they will only know their companion is there through touch and sound. How they are breathing, how they are living at all, is a mystery; one probably answered only by the SCA on their wrist.
Being there brings an unease deep down inside them. This place is not natural, not somewhere that they should exist in. Not a place that should exist at all. Luckily they are never there for more than a few moments before they return once more to the station, fog covering them like a safety blanket.

A DIFFERENT CORNER: LOCATIONS
In the first couple of days (whatever that means, when time doesn't match up between most places), the only way to move to another's tethered location is by them leading another there. But after that, individuals will show up in other locations when they reach close to the distance limit. Indeed as time goes on everything gets a lot less stable. They may know their five miles perfectly but still one step to another leads them back to the platform. Attempting to return to their world leads them somewhere else entirely.
And there's quite a few places to end up.

OOC NOTES
OOC post. Ask questions here.
LOCATION TOPLEVELS: Since it'll be easier for players to engage with settings presented by those offering them, when we see a toplevel for one of the above locations put up, we'll add it to the list! We've also included the OOC comments for settings to the side, so any questions can be left with the player, as well as extra details. Please always speak with the player first if you intend to do anything drastic to the setting!
A REMINDER: Time of log is Poi 22-25, but time within worlds can last up to a maximum of two weeks. Minimum is whatever you want it to be.
During Poi 22 and 23, characters will need to be led to a location to be able to access it. From Poi 24, people will show up in locations regardless of invitation.
The second half of the event will go up during 20th to 25th February (Poi 26-28). But as always, play around in here and do as you like!
If your character's setting isn't above, link us to it in the Questions post, along with your toplevel! We'll add it.

Zelda
On the Platform
Zelda flashes back onto the platform with wide eyes and a notable shake to her step.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but if you have a moment," she pauses, just clearly trying to properly string her next thought together, "but... I don't happen to look freshly bombed, do I?"
Some Time Afterward
Her third return home, and everything is in a frustrating stasis. If the SCA hadn't been enough evidence that the trip home was running into difficulties, the fact that she could walk into the market in full royal dress without turning even *some* heads would have done the trick.
And the Voidtrecker Express- she eyes the fog-shrouded space where the train should be in considerable frustration- is currently out of contact. She might have expected as much.
A sigh, and in resignation she "I don't suppose anyone is up to giving guided tours of their worlds?"
A pause, then she adds, "Or at least recommending us something to eat?"
Wildcard
During various visits back, Zelda will be off trying to meditate in a corner of the platform. Feel free to bother her.
First Arrival
“A little. Here, I’ll help clean you up…” she said, dusting off Zelda. “What happened?”
no subject
"I arrived in the midst of an attempt to clear some rubble." She closes her eyes. "A great deal of rubble, actually. Someone has apparently decided to hire Goron demolitions experts to get rid of it all."
She should probably have words with someone about that, actually. That rubble was the stronghold of a sorcerer strong enough to make himself a demon; there's a good chance it still radiates evil magic.
Just one more thing to think about while she recovers from narrowly avoiding being blown up the moment she got home. Really. This is her luck.

That worrying revelation delivered, Zelda turns back to the suggestion. She thinks a moment, then says, "I don't think it was deliberate; the Gorons aren't a malicious people on the whole."
When you're seven feet tall and made of stone, you don't really need to be aggressive to convince people not to mess with you.
"But... if you wish... I wouldn't object to some company."
no subject
"Then, it might have been a mistake? Then, I don't think it would hurt just to be safe."
She smiled as Zelda gave her permission. "I hope no one would mind my presence."
no subject
Zelda stares down at her hands, looking as though she's tempted to bury her head in them.
"Finally a way home and it's all-" She catches herself, shakes her head.
"Ah, please don't mind me. And... I don't think there would be trouble. But it's been some time since I've been home, and I'm not entirely sure what might now be there."
no subject
"Then I'll be your guard!" she replied. "I'll make sure you're safe and sound."

A heartbeat later, the two stand in what looks like a quarry, or maybe a construction site. The ground is covered with large piles of rock, many of which look as though they were carved and shaped at one point in the past. If Ruby thinks about it for a minute, she might realize that they're in the remnants of a very large stone building. A castle, perhaps.
Her companion, meanwhile, is quickly searching the area for signs of anyone nearby, then quickly flicking her eyes up to study the color of the sky and the clouds that ring about a distant mountaintop somewhere to the east.
"A good sign," she murmurs, bringing her hand up to shade her eyes. There are very fine white gloves on the hand, Ruby might notice. In fact, Zelda's current dress is much finer-or at least much fancier- than the one she was wearing just a moment ago, though notably covered in a fair bit of soot.
Some Time Afterward

"Mostly I'd like a distraction, until we receive word about what's going on."

Well. In other circumstances, she might be hearing much the same from Impa.
"Very well, then. If you don't mind, I'd be glad to see your world."

Castle Town
They never look at her.
That was always the plan, when she'd been young, when she'd snuck out of the castle in the simplest dress she'd owned and tried to pass as a normal girl for a few hours. Now she walks into a crowded market in the garb of a royal princess and the people of Castle Town's eyes slide past her as though she's not there at all.
Then again, maybe she isn't. The SCA is still on her hand, after all.
But there are people in the walls of Castle Town again, and that is something to celebrate. Over to her left is Master Carpenter Mutoh, screaming his lungs out at the latest lazy apprentice he managed to pick up. On the far end of the crowd are a group of boys setting up a makeshift game of bombchu bowling, complete with using cuccos to block the targets. There's a woman at a nearby stall selling bowls of a rich pumpkin soup and Zelda is so tempted to wander over and ask for some-
But then the point of a sword held skyward catches her eye, and she turns to find a makeshift plinth and statue where the central fountain used to be. It's a rough thing, wooden and clearly hastily constructed, but the right points are hit: high boots and tunic, a dented shield, a pointed hat.
"Well," she murmurs to herself, a small smile on her face, "they never were going to forget you, were they?"
Nocturne of Shadow
Night falls, and the residents of Castle Town take cover within half-completed houses and brightly colored tents. The rooftops, on the other hand, are as much hers as they have ever been, and for one last night Sheik prowls streets that are both so familiar and so changed.
One familiarity emerges with a hideous screech from one still-abandoned alleyway: a Redead, one of the life-sucking zombies that had once been Castle Town's only inhabitants. Its desiccated arms reach out but Sheik proves faster, pulling out a knife and slicing into its neck.
As the monster curls into itself and dies, the princess' shadow lets out a quiet laugh behind their mask. Was it strange to see this as a reassuring welcome home?
Prelude of Light
Ageless and undisturbed, the Temple of Time stands apart from both the chaotic life of the market square and the shadowed pockets of the city's still-ruined back alleys. It is a place of power and serenity, a hair's breadth and a heartbeat away from divinity, and Zelda gravitates to the ancient sanctuary the way a magnet does to a pole. Amidst the strangeness of a Castle Town after Ganondorf- of a funhouse mirror house of childhood memories and adolescent horrors- it's still the same.
She steps inside, breathing the still air, before her eyes fall upon the open gate at the other end of the central hall. Toward the Pedestal of Time, the keyhole to the Sacred Realm, still missing the key to locking it in place.
The Master Sword. Of all things, she had forgotten about the Master Sword. Pulling her glance from the sword chamber, she goes further into the temple and calls out.
"Rauru?"
The answer takes a moment, and the ancient sage's voice is startled. But he answers. Under the circumstances, she'll take it.
Princess?

Nocturne of Shadow
Disorientating. To be in a place he knows so very well, remembering years upon years of his owner running between back alleys and city streets, growing up as a child allowed to run after patrolling guards, and a guard himself, chasing down criminals.
Even the castle, the old halls a second childhood home.
There were so much of the place that was familiar.
Except in the ways it wasn't. The castle was the most familiar, having been old for centuries, differences in wings added, or having been destroyed in the past. The town itself, with buildings that are new that had been ancient, and space where there wasn't before.
But there is someone who is familiar. And a shriek he's heard once or twice.
Already dead thanks to the familiar figure. (Familiar, yet not.)
"Ugh, always hated those things," Shadow said, popping up out of a shadow not far from Sheik.
no subject
"The living dead have few champions, and the Redead fewer than most," she observed, tucking her knife away.
"I had hoped they might all be gone by now... but at least they now cower in corners rather than overrunning the market. It's a start."
no subject
He hums, looking her over. "Do ya want help? Get flat enough and Idon't hear them so well. Less paralysis."
no subject
She turned to a wall, planning to pull herself up to the rooftops, then paused at his offer.
"I... I think I could use the company."
