"Oh. Thank you." Her cheeks only grew warmer then. But despite the obvious embarrassment, she seemed genuinely flattered by the comment. Having a caretaking disposition was something she often strived for — given how much she enjoyed taking care of people and making them feel good.

Unfortunately, even telling her not to would not quell the pang of sadness that struck her heart. Of course she knew, after spending so much time amongst them, that humans did not live very long at all; especially when compared to her own people. But that didn't make it any less upsetting to hear.

"Still. I am sorry to hear that. Do you —" another pause; a silent debate on whether she should continue, or if she was pushing too far into delicate topics. "Do you have a significant other, then?" She would have said wife but she didn't want to assume anything. The mention of a son had her too curious not to ask, though.
