Jema'grethy: Memory Cave

Passengers see a vision, an instance of someone's life, before just as suddenly - they find themselves inside a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely, and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They're not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker; maybe someone they know well, or maybe someone they've only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave, and they will come to find out that it was one of their memories that the other witnessed. And them, one of yours.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

[He gave an inward shrug and simply shook his head.] I'll do my best to not dwell on that. He always said I worried too much and over thought on things that didn't matter to the big picture.

What did the big picture be being? What did he be wanting you to be doing?

[Sometimes it was important to think of the small things.]

He wants to be leader of the Five Lakes Alliance...and eventually be the new Emperor. He's always plotting on how to get everything aligned the way he wants it. Only I feel, he never tells me everything. Just enough to get what he needs. Alot I have learned from other people and just learning to read between his words and actions.

[Xie'er paused to figure out how to word the answer to her other question and frowned.]

I did a lot of behind the scenes stuff...Stuff he claimed he couldn't be caught doing. Removing people who weren't cooperating...giving him information he sought. Because of the things I had to do...he didn't like to be recognized with me.

[He found himself playing with his braids finding the conversation uncomfortable. It was the first time he openly explained his role. He avoided looking her in the eyes as he spoke. At one point he was proud of his role, but of late he was left with a lot of doubt.]

[Removing people, giving information. He was a spy, a killer, someone who made life easier for a man who would be an emperor.

She wondered if he had any chance. Or if he was just a scheming noble with no real plan. Just plots on top of plots. But people like that, they needed tools like Xie'er. People who could do the work that was ever so necessary but not acceptable to many.

After all many of her own jobs had been hiring from nobles who technically were followers of the light gods, but who needed an opponent out of the way.]

Of course he did no be wanting to be recognised with you. If you did be failing, he would need to be denying you. [Easier if no one saw them together.]

Yes. That's why I was confused when Yufi acknowledged me as his son in front of everyone. Not all the pieces of the plot were completed. I wasn't sure if it was just a decoy move to distract them. Or for me to take his downfall if things fell apart.

Perhaps that do be being why. It do always be being difficult, to be knowing what others do be thinking. [Especially those with power over them.]

[He gave a nod.] It's no real use dwelling on it now since I can't do anything. I suppose I have been given another change here.

Exactly. [She sighs. It was always the way.

Talking of ways, two doors had appeared in the cave, one on each side.]

Oh we can be going now, once the doors do be opening.

[scorpionsect]

[His eyes widened a bit at the sudden appearance.]

What a pecularier place.

[He then got up and headed toward the door. He waited till she was at hers before leaving.]

[She got up as well, moving over to the other door, glancing at him and nodding quietly before stepping through.]

[Once he saw her leave, he left through his door as well.]
