You are Not Alone: Conclusion

The world is a mess, the remnants of humanity will have a lot to do to clean up and rebuild. Perhaps their world will never be the same again and indeed this might not be the last threat their planet faces and there will be much hardship in their future.

But they still stand and they would remain standing. Those monitoring the situation in space report that any ships that weren't destroyed had fled, most badly damaged. The human troops are taking on the final pockets of enemies across the world.

The scientists that were found are grateful to be saved and have agreed to return with the voidtreckers to the Void Base. They distrust the ministry yes, but they have no wish to be stuck on this void inactive world without a craft.

So with a few extra passengers looped into their SCA's the Voidtreckers can begin to leave the world. There is a day for them to continue helping, be that clearing the final enemies or helping start with the clear up in Starybury. One city at a time, this world will slowly recover.

Eventually though, on day fifteen of the month of Symphony, they receive a message on their SCA's.

All Voidtreckers and passengers of the Voidtrecker Express please return to the Voidtrecker Express. We will depart in one hour.

There is a pin point on the map that shows where the train has landed. Enough time to say their goodbyes and make their way over. The scientists have been assigned to Sleeper One, Cabin C, which was otherwise empty.

Once again the Voidtrecker Express leaves another world, up and up until there is a flash and a shake and they are in the Void once more.

I. This is the way this mission ends-- Not with a bang but Choo-Choo!

In the months that Sanzo had been here, he never really thought to question much of the going ons' upon The Voidtrecker Express. Sure he occasionally took part in a mission or two, but he never really felt too involved.

It was all reasonably overwhelming, really, and as someone who came from an overwhelming world, now living in a place where taking part in such things was an optional endeavor meant that he could choose the better choice and take a step back. He can relax and let those who want to participate do their jobs.

But then this most recent mission happened.

Although Genjo Sanzo did his best staying aside as he had, the intensity of it all had felt a little too relatable. A world in peril between opposing factions, people displaced from their homes, infinite casualties- He could relate to their distress call.

So why? Why were they pulling away after only a few weeks of aid?

"What do you think could be the cause for all this?" He grumbled out, staring out from the window of the standard coach cart as he watched those who were out reboarding when the announcement was made. So many people were broken and hurt, including citizens, scientists, and Voidtrecker natives. He understood it was a decision by either the Ministry or the Voidtrecker itself. But why now? Why so soon? Were they helping at all with what little time they were there?

II. Genjo Sanzo Taking Responsibility? Well, He Is A Priest After All.

It was strange to have refugees take residence upon the Voidtrecker with no tether keeping them stuck there. In that way, the scientists who took up home in Sleeper Cart 1 Cabin C were very different from the rest. Genjo Sanzo wouldn't consider it lucky, per see, only different.

Familiar words from his master went through his mind. A silly little saying about birds with no home having no place to land was the first thing he thought of when he considered the scientists.

Perhaps it was for that reason he found himself unusually more helpful than he would typically prefer. He diligently attended to his kitchen chores before approaching those who were also doing their part. Standing to face them solemnly, he bowed his head. "Is there anything you need help with?"

A true miracle, Genjo Sanzo asking to help work.

"It would be no problem at all."

III. The Realization Hits

Someone may have been enjoying the new fireplace in the library a bit too much. Not that the library hadn't already become Genjo Sanzo's unique place to lurk even without one. But the fireplace made it more comfortable, more homely.

He had just finished his most recent round of books. Stacks surrounded his chair as he took his time for a break. He was pulling out a cigarette from his pocket and popping it in his mouth as he tilted his head back in thought. The reason for all his hang-ups with that past mission suddenly hit him like a bag of bricks.

"... So it's because it's like Togenkyo," he lit the cigarette, taking the first breath of nicotine to calm his nerves. "Coming from the west and spreading to the east, the youkai lost themselves and destroyed the world with them... Their world went through something similar. Except for this time, it came from the stars."

Huh.
