[Open] Run around town

Who: Garrett, Open
Where: Valley town
When: Beginning to mid event (Let It Snow)
What: Garrett loots the town. Fights a few monsters. Runs into Purple team members??
Warnings: Arachne stuff.

I. Looting

When Garrett woke it turned out he had fallen through the roof of some house in the village at the bottom of the valley. The fall had hurt, a lot, but he had managed to survive. He guessed being a monster had some advantages. He limped his way towards a bathroom, rummaged around the cabinets for a bit, and found what he was looking for: painkillers. The medicine was completely foreign but the advertisement on the front seemed pretty generic even to him. He popped a few pills, stuffed the rest of the bottle in a pocket, and limped back into the main room.

An hour later the master thief was playing at his main game: moving through the shadows, looting whatever caught his eye, and avoiding as much of the ruckus going on outside as he could. He moved from house to house with quick, darting movements. Inside, because the town was abandoned, he moved a little less cautiously. Normally he would sneak around without being seen but right now there was no one to see him. He was still cautious just in case someone had been left behind but once a house was confirmed empty he walked about freely.

He pilfered from jewelry boxes whenever something unique could be found in them, picked up small electronics and stuffed them into his rucksack which he had left empty instead of packing extra supplies, and foraged for food whenever he got hungry or thirsty. He also slipped into sheds and garages to look for tools and building materials, mostly metal. He stole another bag to stuff those items into. Small things ended up in his clothing's pockets.

Eventually he found his way to the main square of the town and started in on the shops. The bank didn't interest him since there was no need for money and though he could go through the safe deposit boxes it just didn't seem like a good use of his time while he was here for so short a time. Especially since the monsters liked to interrupt his endeavors every so often.

He did most of his exploring at night with his excellent night vision and then set up a small hide-out in one of the town stores to lay low during the brightest hours of the day so he could try to sleep. He also stashed his loot there so he could go unencumbered while he found new items to take.

The sneak thief did this almost the entire time they were on this planet. Or at least during the first few days while the teams worked on the initial problems.

II. Fighting

There were times that even Garrett couldn't avoid the monsters as they rampaged through the city. He tried to steer clear of the outskirts of town where the Purple team did their best to keep a majority of the creatures at bay. But some of the ice creatures managed to make their way inward anyway and Garrett found himself either trying to go unnoticed while they tore up the buildings or fighting them whenever he couldn't avoid.

He had a baton from a sports shop that he'd painted black and added material for grips, basically recreating his blackjack, that he used for a weapon. It wasn't ideal for usage against the monsters but he was swift and agile and dodged most attacks that came his way. Eventually he'd get a hit or two in and while they didn't amount to much against the hard ice of the monsters after a while he would manage to cause cracks in the ice. A well placed blow after that would shatter the creatures and they would disappear.

III. Rescue

Garrett was no hero.

But the master thief couldn't ignore the hapless cries of a small child anymore than the next person. Well, that wasn't entirely true. Back in The City Garrett heard the pleading of children quite often and ignored it as he made his way through the streets. He also knew that those children were street thieves and would just as soon gut an unsuspecting passerby for his coin as take offerings given freely out of pity. This was not a cry from such a child.

This Garrett knew because there was a rather large snow golem crushing the foundation out of a building a few blocks up the street. His mismatched eyes searched the surrounding area for a sign of Purple but none of their team members were as close to the building under attack as he was. He could try to alert the nearest one, as an arachne he was damn quick, but he knew by then it would be too late.

He cursed under his breath and hated himself a bit for what he was about to do.

The arachne dashed towards the enraged snow and ice creature and the building that it was pummeling. He threw a wrench at its back when he was close enough to hit it; the tool bounced off the snowman's backside but the throw was hard enough that it got the creature's attention. Garrett didn't linger longer than that. As the creature roared and began to turn around, Garrett dashed towards the nearest shadow and ducked into it. He Focused and cloaked himself in Darkness, and thus wrapped in its safe embrace the sneak thief raced by the golem in a low crouch and ducked into the beaten building.

It was cramped inside. Most of the support was bent, broken, and crumbling. He could hear the creaking of the building as it shifted precariously, about to give way, and feel the vibrations threw his feet as if he were on his web being plucked by an annoying person trying to get his attention. (He wished that person were here, annoying or not, a friend would have been welcome right about now.) Garrett moved through the rubble carefully but swiftly. He was good at this. Small spaces never bothered him. He followed the crying of the little girl straight to her hiding spot.

At first he thought it would go smoothly. She was surprised but grateful to see someone. At first. He knelt down close to her and (kind of reluctantly but maybe she couldn't sense that) held out his arms to her. She climbed right up into his embrace and Garrett closed his eyes for a moment to simply breath, reminded himself that this was a child, and scooped her up off the ground and began backtracking through the rubble. Then a rock shifted badly beneath him and his arachne limbs reached out instinctively to support him.

There was a loud scream. Garrett's ears nearly burst, or so it felt like, and he was dazed for a moment, confused. But he realized a moment later the girl was struggling against him. He was just another bad monster out to get her.

Garrett grit his teeth and held her against his chest. As if this whole ordeal wasn't bad enough, he felt a tremor in the rocks as the golem mashed a fist into the building barely hanging on above his head. It couldn't take much more abuse. And the golem definitely knew they were inside.

The blackhand made a last ditch effort to dash for the most obvious exit at the front of the building. He made it through as the building began to fully crumble around the arachne and his human package and ran right into the legs of the giant snowman. He looked up. The girl followed his gaze. She screamed. The monster roared. And all hell broke loose.

Garrett leapt to the side just in time to avoid a giant fist slamming into the ground where he had been standing mere seconds before. The creature was large but not as slow as one might hope. There was already a second fist coming down on top of them and Garrett barely managed to dodge that one as well. Then the race was on. Garrett scrambled down the street with the wailing girl in his arms and the ice golem following closely behind.

Purple!

He spotted the color just ahead and made an adjustment to head right for it. He only felt a little sorry for the mess he was bringing their way.

IV. Wild Card~

There's always the option for more! Garrett can end up in the tunnels were Blue team is if asked to run supplies down there. Or any combination of the above can be smooshed together to make things happen. Will match formatting if brackets are desired, and PMs or plurks my way for plotting is A-okay!
