Mission Five: Conclusion

The Voidtreckers turn the tide, save the day. That isn't to say it is easy or straightforward, the battles are tough but together Red Team prevents the mega weapon getting through, orange team maintain shields, blue team fend off those trying to attack the command centre and purple fight the battle of their lives.

The system is safe and everyone who hasn't already evacuated back to the train using their SCA can gather on the space station again. There is a roar of noise as the Void Trecker Express appears in the hanger once more, noise and wind rushing through their hair it is no mystery why the army here reacted in shock at their initial arrival.

Hitrinto is there, as are many of those the void treckers have met in their week in this system. Here to thank them for their timely rescue and to wave them off.

The voidtreckers as well are reunited, the four teams back as one and it is time to re-board the Voidtrecker Express and move on to the next adventure!

"No, no, no, not like that, I wasn't hurt on the mission at all!" She set the plate down on the nightstand and lifted her hands, expression startled. "I was in a fighter with Prisoner and Spinel, we were good. I popped the cockpit once so Spinel could play Punch-Out with one of the cruisers, but I closed it and the life support system went back on, it's all good!"

He'd seen her move and she was in a black t-shirt that said 'I may be strange, even crazy, but there's never a dull moment!' and a knee-length pair of cutoff denim. While Gladio could probably see some marks on her arms and legs, they weren't recent wounds, just old scars.

"I mean okay, someday I want to do a space walk, or maybe fly out there, but until I can get the proper equipment for that, in a vehicle is how it gets done. And how I did it this time, too." She nodded at that.

In the time it had taken Renee to reassure him, Gladio had managed to sit himself up. His blanket had fallen around his waist, legs over the edge and just sitting on the edge of the cot staring at her. She didn't look hurt. But he also knew she was a hell of a lot tougher than most and hurting her would be no easy task. The big guy visibly relaxed when he realised this and he flashed a sheepish smile.

"Sorry... I keep hearing things. People vanishing. People dying and getting hurt." He'd just worried. She was his friend after all. But then she went on to talk about space walks and couldn't quite hide the shudder. He almost wanted to argue with her, tell her not to do something so stupid. But it was his fear, not hers. He couldn't say something like that without sounding like a massive asshole. So he decided to change the subject. "Uh... food? You said something about food?"

Renee frowned a bit. "Yeah, the vanishing...that happens. A kid did die too. I'm not sure of what happened there, too, or what's going on there beyond that." If nothing else, she was going to be honest. She didn't think Gladio would appreciate a lessened blow.

Then she laughed. "Yeah, I did! It's right here. Lean back just a little so you can balance the plate on your chest, and then I'll hand you the fork and you can go at it. Only help you'll need from me is tugging the meat off the skewers, but...wait."

She slapped herself in the forehead. "There's a reason I did skewers too! Ugh, I'm a dork!" But really, she was still laughing despite that. "Yeah, go on, you got it and I got you."

"Damn..." Gladio lifted his good hand and rubbed it across his face. It still stung. He knew there had been so many working pieces to the mission and he hadn't been a part of them all, but it still hurt. But, at the same time, given what they had been doing, the fact that only one person had lost their lives was a small miracle in itself. Gladio had half expected to lose a lot more with people out flying around space in tin cans.

"Huh..." He dropped his hand and looked at Renee, an amused little smile tugging at the corner of his lips. It was nice to hear her laugh, even if it was at herself. "Thanks for putting them on skewers for me. It's a big help."
