Mission Five: Conclusion

The Voidtreckers turn the tide, save the day. That isn't to say it is easy or straightforward, the battles are tough but together Red Team prevents the mega weapon getting through, orange team maintain shields, blue team fend off those trying to attack the command centre and purple fight the battle of their lives.

The system is safe and everyone who hasn't already evacuated back to the train using their SCA can gather on the space station again. There is a roar of noise as the Void Trecker Express appears in the hanger once more, noise and wind rushing through their hair it is no mystery why the army here reacted in shock at their initial arrival.

Hitrinto is there, as are many of those the void treckers have met in their week in this system. Here to thank them for their timely rescue and to wave them off.

The voidtreckers as well are reunited, the four teams back as one and it is time to re-board the Voidtrecker Express and move on to the next adventure!

"Come in," he called, though his voice was thick with emotion. He didn't pay attention to who was wanting him, but when he saw it was Peter he breathed with relief. At least Peter was alive and still there. He had to be grateful for that.

He used the sleeve of his robe to wipe his face and then scooted over on the bed to give him room. "Rough mission," he remarked, trying and failing to sound less destroyed by it than he was.

Peter lets out the breath he hadn't realized he'd trapped until he hears Tony's voice. Relief spreads like a thick wave though he's still heart broken about all the others. The door open and he moves over to Tony, just curling up and latching onto him like he has no intention to ever let go.

"I'm so glad you're still here." He mumbles, unable to stop the tears from cascading down his cheeks. "Why does everyone keep leaving? What did I do?" He sobs against his mentor. Because of course it's his fault. His fault he didn't try to do more-his fault he got complacent and decided to ignore those stupid dreams. His fault he's such a curse on everyone's life. He really only ever cries like this on his Aunt because she knows just how messed up his life really is and how much weight he really carries with him over each loss and how much the Parker curse just takes and takes.

Tony automatically put an arm around Peter, wishing he could take some of the kid's pain away. He couldn't though. There wasn't anything he could do about it either.

"You?" He was surprised when Peter was turning it on himself. "Peter.. it's not just you. Ignis is gone. Joss is gone. These are my people, not yours." Although he did know they meant something probably to the kid too. "It's this fucked up place."

Peter just shakes his head like he's not having any of it, his eyes overflowing with tears again as he's forced to facts. "No! It's always me!" He insists, sniffling harshly. "My parents, Ben, Cap, Thor... I'm just... I'm always the common denominator. Those are all people I've met! All people I tried to get close to! It's my fault." He sniffles again, sitting up long enough to wipe his nose.

"Even you're gonna..." He swallows and tries in vain to stop more tears flowing down his face. "It's everyone I get close to."

Tony sighed and rubbed Peter's back sympathetically. He didn't have much in him right now to give, but whatever was left, he'd give the boy. "I don't know why this keeps happening. You're easy to befriend so it would make sense you'd know everyone who leaves here. But there are others gone. I don't know why. I thought there was a pattern that people who got really involved here didn't leave, like it was a way to anchor yourself here."

He shook his head again. Ignis was so tied here. He was a leader, a father, a partner.. and yet he was gone too. "I hate feeling powerless."

Peter just curls into Tony again, crying silently as he's pretty sure it's him. Tony might not think so but Peter's seen this enough times to know the Parker Curse is a real Curse and anyone he gets close too is doomed to die or leave. He's also selfishly afraid that once people figure that out they'll leave him-not that he could really blame them.

He doesn't say anything and just sucks in a breath, listening to Tony's heartbeat and trying to keep himself from panicking or breaking down anymore than he already has.

"...I'm used to it." Peter finally mutters at Tony's last statement. He supposes that's a pretty harsh difference between them-Peter is so used to life taking sharp turns and upending every single thing in its path that he sort of just learned to go with the flow as best he can-never make any long term plans because everything could change by the very next day.

He didn't say anything to that. There was no point. He couldn't argue down the evidence that Peter had been dealt several real bad hands. Tony knew something about that kind of life too but now wasn't the time for one upping each other. They were both hurting and that was the point.

So he just sat there with Peter pressed against him and that little bear in his hand. Eventually, he scooted so his back was against the headboard. He kept Peter at his side, quietly wishing he could take his pain away.

"We'll find out in a couple days just who we've lost for good and who we haven't." He really hoped he wouldn't be seeing Ignis walk away from him with that vacant stare.
