Mission Five: Conclusion

The Voidtreckers turn the tide, save the day. That isn't to say it is easy or straightforward, the battles are tough but together Red Team prevents the mega weapon getting through, orange team maintain shields, blue team fend off those trying to attack the command centre and purple fight the battle of their lives.

The system is safe and everyone who hasn't already evacuated back to the train using their SCA can gather on the space station again. There is a roar of noise as the Void Trecker Express appears in the hanger once more, noise and wind rushing through their hair it is no mystery why the army here reacted in shock at their initial arrival.

Hitrinto is there, as are many of those the void treckers have met in their week in this system. Here to thank them for their timely rescue and to wave them off.

The voidtreckers as well are reunited, the four teams back as one and it is time to re-board the Voidtrecker Express and move on to the next adventure!

This is probably a really bad time to ask what a "university" is supposed to be, huh. Time to just slap the patented Inigo Smile on his face and pretends like he totally knows what she's talking about. Because that's clearly never gone wrong before.

"Ah.. Yes, I understand!" No, he doesn't. "Maybe it's more difficult for them to fit as many into a train as they would into a building? I don't think the train itself would enjoy having all these people smelling so badly on board all at once either if it had a choice."

She narrowed her eyes slightly.

"You're the second person who's talked about the train as if it were a living thing, and not a device of clever artifice, which is what I thought it was. Is there something to this? Does the train have some family jewels I can threaten for uprooting my life so cavalierly?"

[flatteries]

"Oh?" This seems to come as a surprise to him. Apparently he didn't even fully consider his wording - or the implications behind it about his thinking - until she points it out like that.

So he does take the briefest moment to think about it, a hand reaching up to scratch the back of his head.

"Well.. We don't quite have.. things like these where I come from." He gestures with his other arm around them, as if to imply he's talking about the train as a whole. "And the things that can travel to different worlds or different times the way this train does tend to be actual living beings. So even though I'm not sure whether it's actually the case or not, I can't help but think similarly of this train."

[les_magique]

"I see. I have to admit I don't know a lot about trains either. I THINK flying through the void between worlds is unusual for them...?"

She shrugged. "If nothing else, we can be confused together. It stands to reason, though, that there is SOMEONE deciding where we go. Whether it's the train itself or some unseen mastermind remains to be discovered."

[flatteries]

"True." He nods.

"But in the meantime.. well, it seems we don't have many ways to uncover the secrets behind this train or whoever may be controlling it." And honestly, Inigo doesn't think he's smart enough to be able to do it in the first place. Not when there's so many people here way smarter than him. "So we probably shouldn't fuss about it too much. Let's try to see the positive in everything!" He pauses, then glances ahead of them at all the other people in line for the showers.. ".. even in this, I suppose."

Does Inigo feel very positive right now? No. He's worried like hell. But if there's anything he's trained himself in, it's smiling like he has no cares even when he has plenty.

"Positive thinking. Right. Everything will be okay."

She did not sound like she believed it. "I don't think I'm any good at leaving things to other people, unfortunately, so I'm still going to keep poking around."

[flatteries]

If Inigo is feeling any kind of concern for her when she says that - he is - then he sure manages to not show it. Not in any negative way, anyway. He just keeps smiling.

"Well.. in that case, perhaps you could use a poking sidekick?"

More like someone to keep an eye on her in case she gets into trouble, but sshh.

"A very, very handsome and charming one?" He frames his face with his fingers. Very subtle.

"Who-" Oh, he meant himself. Samata burst out laughing, honestly feeling a bit better.

"Ahahaaa... Yes, you've thoroughly charmed me. Well done." She said, still amused, and ruffled his hair if he'd let her.

[flatteries]

There's definitely no resistance to the hair ruffling, although he slowly starts to look a little bit like a kicked puppy. That's not the kind of reaction he was expecting, although he's at least kind of glad he managed to make her laugh? That was his main intention, even if his pride got a dent just now.

"I was serious about the sidekick thing, you know!" He even sounds like a kicked puppy. All whiny. "Isn't it more fun to do things together? It's so boring on your own!"

"I suppose I could make room for a sidekick. An extra pair of eyes can't hurt, and it's not like we don't have any spare time around here..."

[flatteries]

"Exactly!"

And he didn't want to take no for an answer anyway. But Samata agreeing with it sure makes it a lot easier. In fact, it makes his whiny sulking from a moment ago melt away like snow under the sun.

"So don't go off without letting me know first, got it? I don't want to miss any interesting discoveries!"
