Mission Five: Conclusion

The Voidtreckers turn the tide, save the day. That isn't to say it is easy or straightforward, the battles are tough but together Red Team prevents the mega weapon getting through, orange team maintain shields, blue team fend off those trying to attack the command centre and purple fight the battle of their lives.

The system is safe and everyone who hasn't already evacuated back to the train using their SCA can gather on the space station again. There is a roar of noise as the Void Trecker Express appears in the hanger once more, noise and wind rushing through their hair it is no mystery why the army here reacted in shock at their initial arrival.

Hitrinto is there, as are many of those the void treckers have met in their week in this system. Here to thank them for their timely rescue and to wave them off.

The voidtreckers as well are reunited, the four teams back as one and it is time to re-board the Voidtrecker Express and move on to the next adventure!

"That's not THIS wizard's business!" She exclaimed. That was a bit more mercenary sounding than she meant, though, so she kept going.

"I mean, I'm not against helping people! It's a very admirable thing to do, and I'm glad these people can remain free because of us! But this can't be IT. There's got to be more to this then just saving the world and then immediately packing back onto the train to go to the next world, right!?"

Dairine narrows her eyes. There is a moment, between the exhaustion and tension, where the young wizard has the strong urge to snap at her. But then slowly, Dairine breathes out, steadying herself. After everything she's been through, she can understand the frustration of how unfair their lot can be.

"I'm guessing you didn't have to take the Oath, then."

She looks out at the celebrating masses. "For the wizards I know, helping people is the point. 'To guard growth and ease pain.' That's why we call it errantry: from the very start we're constantly getting new assignments in the service of Life."

"As to whether there's more to it, I dunno—maybe we will get some bonus rewards later down the line? But usually, what we get is in the doing. Seeing other places, pulling off cool feats, knowing you've made a difference... that's what matters."

"No I never took any kind of oath." Samata narrowed her eyes right back. "I have NO idea what I'm doing, and I never have! I just discovered this amazing new power and wanted to show it to other people and next thing I knew there were inquisitors after my head and people rioting in the streets! My life has been out of control for months now and getting dragged into this nonsense has NOT helped anything make more sense!"

She huffed angrily. "It's not that I'm not getting paid or anything like that, it's that my life is being managed by a train and I have no say in the matter anymore!"
