Mission Five: Conclusion

The Voidtreckers turn the tide, save the day. That isn't to say it is easy or straightforward, the battles are tough but together Red Team prevents the mega weapon getting through, orange team maintain shields, blue team fend off those trying to attack the command centre and purple fight the battle of their lives.

The system is safe and everyone who hasn't already evacuated back to the train using their SCA can gather on the space station again. There is a roar of noise as the Void Trecker Express appears in the hanger once more, noise and wind rushing through their hair it is no mystery why the army here reacted in shock at their initial arrival.

Hitrinto is there, as are many of those the void treckers have met in their week in this system. Here to thank them for their timely rescue and to wave them off.

The voidtreckers as well are reunited, the four teams back as one and it is time to re-board the Voidtrecker Express and move on to the next adventure!

"I-I don't know, he got shot, I guess--he's a vampire, I didn't think he could just...die like that..."

Reigen tenses up a bit when Curufin touches him, not out of discomfort but physical comfort still being a little alien to him.

"...why didn't I go with him? I could have-he might still be alive..." He knows that's probably not true, he would have just gotten himself killed too, but at least then he would have tried. "How many times do people have to die?"

"He got shot, did he? I am so sorry. But he's a vampire? I didn't know that. I thought vampires had supernatural powers and were not at all easy to kill."

Curufin eases his hand off the shoulder, sensing the tenseness. Not everybody is used to physical comfort, or even wants it. He tries to be sensitive to that difference.

"If you had gone with him, it's true that maybe you could have saved him. But maybe you'd be dead, too. If he's vanished, then I don't think he survived. I can only hope he comes back, via the luggage coach, as others have done before him." He remains in his kneeling position beside Reigen, looking at him with kindness. "I don't like this death thing, either. It's especially not fair when it's a child -- vampire or not."

"Yeah, they're not supposed to be. I saw it, he got poisoned on a mission and he was fine! Why--" Trying to work out how it all could have happened and whether the luggage coach thing even worked on dead people was too overwhelming for him to deal with. He likes it better when he's able to actually say things for certain, not knowing only reminds him of how little he actually knows about anything.

"I don't care if I die, I can't keep seeing this happen--" Reigen near instantly regrets the words coming out of his mouth, realizing how awful that must sound, how close he was to spilling what he promised he wouldn't tell anyone. "...I'm not like you or your dad, I've never had to deal with this..."

Who doesn't like to know things for certain? They're all in the same boat -- being human and vulnerable to love and fear, and knowing so little about anything.

"I hope this kind of thing won't happen again," says Curufin. "And I know, you've lived a very different kind of life than I have, or my father has. You haven't got the callused hearts we have. It's all right. And it's okay to need help."
