Under the Sea: Mission start

After fleeing the strange shapes in the sky the voidtreckers are perhaps not looking forward to yet another mission and indeed the first few days of Fiddlesticks go by without any strange dreams, no warning that another mission might be nigh. Yet on the morning of day five their SCA's will glow with the colours of the void and a holographic message will appear.

Preperations

The dressing room is open once again, though the clothes this time are simple in choice. A wet suit for each void trecker as well as a pair of flippers, a helmet and a breathing pack. It at least has instructions and there will be a little bit of time for them to figure out how to use them. Apart from that there are some waterproof packs for supplies to be packed in.

They will have a couple of hours to get ready for their mission.

Arrival: Blue and Red

"We are now approaching world #7625000129523. Drop order is Red and Blue, Purple then Orange. Red and Blue team to doors. Arrival in world #7625000129523 in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and lurches as they exit the void, the view from the window goes from the ever shifting void to a beautiful deep blue sky. They fly through the air and swoop down to land on a sandy beach. The doors open allowing those who are taking part in the Blue and Red missions to debark. The doors close and the train swoops up into the air.

The beach stretches from one side to the other, in the distance as the beach turns into sloping green hills they can see a village. Beyond that there is a jungle. Any red team who check their SCA will see four points, the rock pools.

The villagers have noticed the huge train sweeping down onto their island and so contact is made quickly. They will be quite accepting of the help and explain the situation. They will help any of red team to the rockpools if asked.

Red

The rockpools are built up and indeed made so the water will reach a persons waist if they stand in them. The water is cold but not overly so. When the water shoots up anyone in them will shoot up also.

They will find themselves in a vortex of water, with anyone else who enters that rockpool. The water itself seems to be fighting them, tendrils of water reaching out of the whirlpool to try and drag them further into the chaos. It takes a whole lot of willpower to stay in the centre, the water can be fought with weapons, even with fists. They feel as if they are falling or flying, perhaps both. Surrounded by the pure chaos of the ocean.

Blue

Hopefully they spend the day helping with preparations because when night falls the monsters emerge from the sea. Terrifying twisted creatures. The villagers only have simple weapons but will tell them that fire is helpful against these water creatures.

Hold off the monsters and keep the people safe.

Purple

The doors close and the train flies off into the sky, flying over the island to the other side where it lands on a rocky bay, near tall towering cliffs.

"Purple team to doors." The doors open, allowing the purple team to disembark before flying off once again.

In the cliff face there is a large cave entrance, over the entrance there are symbols, translated by their SCA's. Clear mind, clear heart. Come those who seek to serve.

There are six people stood by the entrance, looking quite surprised at the new arrivals. One, a woman with silver hair recovers enough to speak first. "Ah. Void warriors. We are honoured by your help."

Once introductions are made the spiritual leaders will happily accept the escort and their adventure can begin.

Orange

They fly up and out across the ocean, a longer flight than before but eventually they descend and there is a slight juddering before they land, floating on the ocean.

"Orange team disembark, please use luggage or dressing carriage doors only."

They will step out onto an inflated platform that streches around the train. Down below are the depths of the water and their SCA's show them at the point of Bui. It is below them so all they need to is dive.

The dive takes a while, and depends on their swimming ability but hopefully with a bit of teamwork they arrive at the silent city of Bui.

Maru looked away and sighed, muttering under his breath about how bothersome this all was, and again wishing for Madoka to come and help him explain this.

But since she wasn't there he was on his own to deal with too many questions.

"... This was how I was created." He answered with a shrug. "My siblings are different animals... One is a bat." If that helped. Old Child was definitely a bat.

Though the next two questions, he didn't have to answer the night one because the guy seemed to get it. The next had his eyes narrowing. "... I don't like it." He hated it, in fact. If he could go without drinking blood for the rest of his eternal life he would. Though he knew that wasn't possible, now he had an Eve who wanted him to fight with her.

Samata Mahto | Red team

[personal profile] les_magique 2020-05-11 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Dressing

Samata glared at the wetsuit. It would fit, even over her prosthetic. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that, like the space suits from her first mission, this left very little to the imagination.

She was going to wear it. She'd resigned herself to that, this time, as she wasn't an expert swimmer and her regular clothes seemed ill suited to the task, but...

"I swear, someone is doing this to us on purpose. Someone with a lecherous mind."

Disembarking

Samata stepped off the train, with the rest of the red team for once. She blinked at the first natural sunlight she'd seen in far too long and brought her hand up to shade her eyes. Her left hand, the mechanical hand.

The prosthetic arm made a sad whirring noise as it went up to barely shoulder level. It took another two tries to actually get it up where she wanted it. She glared at it and shaded her eyes with her other hand.

"What the hell is wrong with this thing?"

Spirit pools

Samata stared at the sacred pool just as it shot up like a geyser while they approached.

"We're not SERIOUSLY going into that are we? This is more like a metaphor for a spiritual journey we all have to undertake. We're not literally going to stand in a geyser. Right?"

They stood in the geyser

Water raged around the team in a giant whirlpool of chaos. Everyone was screaming. Or at least Samata was. She felt like she was falling and possibly drowning at the same time. Never mind that her helmet in theory protected her from that, this wasn't a logical fear. She reached out and grabbed onto the person next to her, then shouted out a spell incantation which surrounded them both in a bubble of magical force.

Inside the bubble, the sounds of crashing water were muted, so it was possible to hear Samata shouting "We're not going to hell we're not going to hell we're not going to hell" over and over again, breathlessly.

Madoka....of course she would know. Mami bites her lip.

"Something's blocking my magic," she whispers, real fear creeping in for the first time in a while. "I won't be able to protect anyone."

"I think they have some this way," Mami offers to the older girl, bobbing her head and leading Minako along the path. "Swords and bows and axes...nothing too advanced, unfortunately."

She considers her. "You'd think the train would better prepare us."

"I'll ask around. I'm just...not used to this."

She'll fight. She'd just feel much better if she could do things her way.

"But I have to be, before the monsters show up. We don't have much time."

"Just...a place to practice, if you've seen one. I've never had to use weapons like these before."

Nice and simple. Not a lie. Just a fact. She's a normal girl doing normal things here. "Were you going to pick one?"

"I would be if they had given me my sword." He really does try to not be bitter about that..but he's bitter. "But considering I have no idea what is in that water, I am not exactly interested in facing it head on."

Oh, oh somebody caught her staring. Ifrit quickly composed herself, which mostly consisted of coughing and trying to look like she wasn't staring out into the sea. "Of course I'm okay. It's just the ocean. It's my first time seeing it, that's all."

This guy didn't look quite like most of the other people around here, though, which set Ifrit less on edge. There's a little less snap to her voice than there might otherwise be.

"Cool, how many siblings did you have?" He asked. If he were a vampire who turned into animals, he'd want to be a chocobo. "Are any of them birds?" A hawk would be cool! Or maybe an eagle like the one on Gladio's back!

He was getting distracted but that answer about the blood brought him right back. He was surprised at the confession. "Really? Have you been drinking that stuff that's in the refrigerator?"

"Absolutely not." Samata declared, staring at the pool of bubbling water with some trepidation.

"But...things have not waited for me to be ready for them for a long time. You do the best you can, I suppose."

Joscelin squeezes Romeo’s hand, maybe a little too tight. He hates the dark these days. He can’t see anymore. Can’t tell what might be out there, ready to hurt him.

That may be the most important part of his newfound humanity: his sudden paranoia. Having killed humans for the better part of seven centuries, he’s acutely aware of how easily they die. Now he’s weak and breakable, and already ill. Why is he stuck in this godforsaken place? He should have stayed on the train.

“He dragged me along,” Joss explains in what he hopes is a casual tone of voice, though he’s rather failed at hiding how afraid he clearly is. “Where Romeo goes, I go.”

"Uh, well," hm. She was usually told where to go, who to work behind or with. How did Doctor usually assign her? "Usually I have somebody with me to keep enemies at bay while I work on burning everything. So I guess... with a partner?"

She looks at Glorfindel as is seeking approval, silently asking if her words were the correct choice.

47 | OTA -- Red Team

[personal profile] rieper 2020-05-11 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
I. Arrival

47 had the red wet suit on with a pair of dark trousers and boots on for the hike out to their destination. He had the rest of his gear stowed away in a bag slung over his shoulder. There was no point in wearing anything cumbersome as he moved about the island prior to any water antics.

He hopped off the train with ease and as usual immediately took to gathering information on his surroundings. He looked around carefully as he waited for the full set of teams to disembark the train.

He knew Red Team had organized as best they could with what little information they already had and waited as they gathered into their separate teams. He had volunteered to lead one of the split formations into the portals. Once he had his team ready he would lead them with the map provided by the SCA to the portal they chose as their target.

II. Red Team

When they arrived at their destination 47 had them wait near the pool before heading straight into the unknown. He preferred a bit more information going into battle but at least he was the type who was prepared to wing it if need be. The first step to a successful mission was gathering intelligence if there was time and then formulating a plan to proceed.

47 didn't want to waste a lot of time but he did want to get a picture of what they might face going in. Thankfully it didn't take much time before the rockpool made it's first geyser high into the air. From the outside looking in, it didn't look too unusual. Geysers weren't exactly common all over the world but they existed in some places so the most perplexing thing about this one was what was causing it. There didn't seem to be any thermal pockets on this island, and in fact the water was quite cool to the touch.

So, there wasn't much to be learned by standing around other than to be prepared for the uprising of water when they got into the pool and...had to wait there for it to do its thing.

"Is everyone ready?" he asked. He fully intended to make certain they all entered at the same time to prevent them from getting separated.

Preparations

The message arrives at its usual time, and Zelda almost breathes a sigh of relief. She'd wondered whether something was off, when her dreams remained echoes of the last horror they'd seen rather than shifting into something new.

A pity, in some ways. The change would have been welcome.

If orange is jumping last, she'll let herself linger in the dining room a bit longer, nursing a cup of tea. Might as well enjoy its presence while she can, right?

Arrival: Orange

Once out of the train it quickly becomes clear why no notice of the world had come before- she can't even remember a time when her mind was so silent.

Fortunately, the rest of her skills seem untouched, as far as she can tell. Just to be sure, though, she holds out her hand and murmurs a prayer to get this right. And while its her own power and not the gods' that pushes the spell through, in the end she gets what she asked for: a ball of light, bright and warm in her hands.

All right. Time to set off.

Zelda sets the light carefully in the water, and for a moment she watches it sink into the depths below. Then she swings herself over the side, ready to follow it down.

"Borderlines?" Glorfindel asked. "What is that?"

He handed Romeo one of the sharpened bamboo spears. "Just in case."

Romeo and Joss were not your average "children" so while he did encourage them in any child-like antics they wanted to partake in, he wasn't going to pretend that they weren't just as capable as many if not most adults. Though the adults in their party were quite out of the ordinary to begin with.

Though she’d been mentally preparing herself for it, it’s still a gut punch seeing Bucky carrying Steve’s shield, taking charge. It should have been a natural fit; Bucky had been Steve’s Number Two man in the Howling Commandos, and she’d watched Sergeant Barnes bark orders any number of times in the last few years. But it isn’t the same.

She’s too professional to let that momentary waver show. She hops down besides him and stares out at the beachhead before them.

“Is it usually different from this?” she asks, curious.

Samata recognized Fëanor as a fellow tinkerer, by now, and was talking at him about how something was wrong with her prosthetic. Something about not drawing enough power and she couldn't tell why.

After repeating a question about odic fields twice, she actually paid proper attention to him and noticed that he looked distracted.

"Hello? Are you alright?"

“Why did you paint it? It looked far more interesting as it was.”

Glorfindel laughed. "I'm sure you would have. Though, every one of us, Ecthelion, myself, and Mithrandir, who have killed one has died in the process. Although, I think now, I could take one down without dying again." He'd thought about that over the years. He's not positive, but he's fairly confident that he'd learned enough from the first time.

Glorfindel paused. "Well, not exactly. I hold the Light of Arnor within me, that is the name of the Sun on my world. I can use it for a variety of purposes, but lighting up a dark space is definitely one of them. I don't intend to until needed, though, as light also tends to attract enemies. But if we need to see, I will make sure it happens," he promised.

Despite what Ple Two is saying, Madoka still quickly looks the other girl over once she's sure that Maru has the monster fighting part covered. She's just trying to make sure Ple Two isn't actually hurt, but it seems like she really is mostly fine. It ends up putting a relieved smile on her face.

"I'm so glad you're okay.. You--" She pauses, her cheeks colouring. "We have to be careful.." Madoka hasn't forgotten that she's pretty squishy too, after all, despite having her vampire bodyguard helping her out here. Especially since a few of the things involved with her bond with Maru don't seem to be fully working in this place for some reason.

She doesn't move even an inch away from Ple Two (you couldn't make her at this point!), but does turn her head to glance at said vampire bodyguard.

"Maru, good job..! You're okay too, right?"

"Not an uncommon reaction then. I've seen younger elves who've lived all their lives inland have a similar look upon their faces. Those not hit with the Longing, that is."

"My name is Glorfindel, by the way," he said by way of introduction. "As you can tell, I am also with Team Purple."
