Under the Sea: Mission start

After fleeing the strange shapes in the sky the voidtreckers are perhaps not looking forward to yet another mission and indeed the first few days of Fiddlesticks go by without any strange dreams, no warning that another mission might be nigh. Yet on the morning of day five their SCA's will glow with the colours of the void and a holographic message will appear.

Preperations

The dressing room is open once again, though the clothes this time are simple in choice. A wet suit for each void trecker as well as a pair of flippers, a helmet and a breathing pack. It at least has instructions and there will be a little bit of time for them to figure out how to use them. Apart from that there are some waterproof packs for supplies to be packed in.

They will have a couple of hours to get ready for their mission.

Arrival: Blue and Red

"We are now approaching world #7625000129523. Drop order is Red and Blue, Purple then Orange. Red and Blue team to doors. Arrival in world #7625000129523 in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and lurches as they exit the void, the view from the window goes from the ever shifting void to a beautiful deep blue sky. They fly through the air and swoop down to land on a sandy beach. The doors open allowing those who are taking part in the Blue and Red missions to debark. The doors close and the train swoops up into the air.

The beach stretches from one side to the other, in the distance as the beach turns into sloping green hills they can see a village. Beyond that there is a jungle. Any red team who check their SCA will see four points, the rock pools.

The villagers have noticed the huge train sweeping down onto their island and so contact is made quickly. They will be quite accepting of the help and explain the situation. They will help any of red team to the rockpools if asked.

Red

The rockpools are built up and indeed made so the water will reach a persons waist if they stand in them. The water is cold but not overly so. When the water shoots up anyone in them will shoot up also.

They will find themselves in a vortex of water, with anyone else who enters that rockpool. The water itself seems to be fighting them, tendrils of water reaching out of the whirlpool to try and drag them further into the chaos. It takes a whole lot of willpower to stay in the centre, the water can be fought with weapons, even with fists. They feel as if they are falling or flying, perhaps both. Surrounded by the pure chaos of the ocean.

Blue

Hopefully they spend the day helping with preparations because when night falls the monsters emerge from the sea. Terrifying twisted creatures. The villagers only have simple weapons but will tell them that fire is helpful against these water creatures.

Hold off the monsters and keep the people safe.

Purple

The doors close and the train flies off into the sky, flying over the island to the other side where it lands on a rocky bay, near tall towering cliffs.

"Purple team to doors." The doors open, allowing the purple team to disembark before flying off once again.

In the cliff face there is a large cave entrance, over the entrance there are symbols, translated by their SCA's. Clear mind, clear heart. Come those who seek to serve.

There are six people stood by the entrance, looking quite surprised at the new arrivals. One, a woman with silver hair recovers enough to speak first. "Ah. Void warriors. We are honoured by your help."

Once introductions are made the spiritual leaders will happily accept the escort and their adventure can begin.

Orange

They fly up and out across the ocean, a longer flight than before but eventually they descend and there is a slight juddering before they land, floating on the ocean.

"Orange team disembark, please use luggage or dressing carriage doors only."

They will step out onto an inflated platform that streches around the train. Down below are the depths of the water and their SCA's show them at the point of Bui. It is below them so all they need to is dive.

The dive takes a while, and depends on their swimming ability but hopefully with a bit of teamwork they arrive at the silent city of Bui.

I. Arrival

47 had the red wet suit on with a pair of dark trousers and boots on for the hike out to their destination. He had the rest of his gear stowed away in a bag slung over his shoulder. There was no point in wearing anything cumbersome as he moved about the island prior to any water antics.

He hopped off the train with ease and as usual immediately took to gathering information on his surroundings. He looked around carefully as he waited for the full set of teams to disembark the train.

He knew Red Team had organized as best they could with what little information they already had and waited as they gathered into their separate teams. He had volunteered to lead one of the split formations into the portals. Once he had his team ready he would lead them with the map provided by the SCA to the portal they chose as their target.

II. Red Team

When they arrived at their destination 47 had them wait near the pool before heading straight into the unknown. He preferred a bit more information going into battle but at least he was the type who was prepared to wing it if need be. The first step to a successful mission was gathering intelligence if there was time and then formulating a plan to proceed.

47 didn't want to waste a lot of time but he did want to get a picture of what they might face going in. Thankfully it didn't take much time before the rockpool made it's first geyser high into the air. From the outside looking in, it didn't look too unusual. Geysers weren't exactly common all over the world but they existed in some places so the most perplexing thing about this one was what was causing it. There didn't seem to be any thermal pockets on this island, and in fact the water was quite cool to the touch.

So, there wasn't much to be learned by standing around other than to be prepared for the uprising of water when they got into the pool and...had to wait there for it to do its thing.

"Is everyone ready?" he asked. He fully intended to make certain they all entered at the same time to prevent them from getting separated.

Sven stepped into the pool alongside his teammates, watching the rippled image of his bare toes under the water. He'd opted out of flippers, but the tight fit of the wet suit meant his calves still felt dry despite the water coming up to just below his knees.

He squinted into the sky, saying a silent prayer to whatever gods might be watching him right now, asking for the safety of himself, his teammates, and those they were about to jump into the great unknown to rescue, while wondering at the back of his mind where they were going to end up. These pools seemed like portals of some sort, but without his ability to sense magic he couldn't put too much faith in his guesses.

Standing around waiting for the planet below to do its thing was a humbling feeling...one he didn't much like, but the point of remembering your own lack of agency wasn't to feel good. He had to remember to keep his wits about him, to keep an eye out for his teammates and trust in them to do the same for him.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Sven looked to 47--Tobias, as he still knew him--and nodded, smiling a grim smile and with a determined look in his eyes. "Ready as soon as this pool decides it's ready."

That was a good point. 47 would have preferred more time to analyze, or, even better, for an analyst to already have the information for him, ready to whisper it into his ear via comm link. How long would this take? Was it random or did it keep a typical schedule? He hadn't asked the locals to accompany them since all he really needed was a direction and the less people he had to babysit the better. So they weren't available to ask for detail, if they had any.

They would simply have to wait. They knew it was coming, it was just a matter of when. He hoped they wouldn't get too complacent in the meantime. He didn't want to deal with panicked teammates as the rush of water occurred.

And if one asked him, this was the worst design for a portal ever.

To Sven he simply said, "Just keep your guard up."

Again, Sven nodded, perturbed just a little by the weight of the the dome around his face and the way the light bounced at the edges of his vision when he moved his head.

He stood alert. Feet firm against the bottom of the pool, knees soft and responsive, core aligned and head up and facing ahead of him, mouth drawn into a serious line. And waited. Sven's yellow eyes flicked to his teammates and then back to Tobias.

"So, uh. Any minute now, right?" Gods, he wished he could sense anything at all about the magical energies in this place. Presumably the pools were active.

47 donned the rest of his gear before entering the circle of water as well. The cool water didn't seem to bother him any more than the strange situation. Nothing seemed to bother him at all.

As the moments ticked by he simply stood still, only small movements of his hands and head as he kept an eye out on his surroundings made it obvious he was even alive instead of a human statue. When Sven spoke again his head swiveled towards the younger man.

"Right. Any minute now," the hitman replied. There was just enough of an emphasis on 'any' to make his facetious reply have a non-facetious point: it really could be any minute of the day. They just really didn't know without more information.
