Under the Sea: Mission start

After fleeing the strange shapes in the sky the voidtreckers are perhaps not looking forward to yet another mission and indeed the first few days of Fiddlesticks go by without any strange dreams, no warning that another mission might be nigh. Yet on the morning of day five their SCA's will glow with the colours of the void and a holographic message will appear.

Preperations

The dressing room is open once again, though the clothes this time are simple in choice. A wet suit for each void trecker as well as a pair of flippers, a helmet and a breathing pack. It at least has instructions and there will be a little bit of time for them to figure out how to use them. Apart from that there are some waterproof packs for supplies to be packed in.

They will have a couple of hours to get ready for their mission.

Arrival: Blue and Red

"We are now approaching world #7625000129523. Drop order is Red and Blue, Purple then Orange. Red and Blue team to doors. Arrival in world #7625000129523 in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and lurches as they exit the void, the view from the window goes from the ever shifting void to a beautiful deep blue sky. They fly through the air and swoop down to land on a sandy beach. The doors open allowing those who are taking part in the Blue and Red missions to debark. The doors close and the train swoops up into the air.

The beach stretches from one side to the other, in the distance as the beach turns into sloping green hills they can see a village. Beyond that there is a jungle. Any red team who check their SCA will see four points, the rock pools.

The villagers have noticed the huge train sweeping down onto their island and so contact is made quickly. They will be quite accepting of the help and explain the situation. They will help any of red team to the rockpools if asked.

Red

The rockpools are built up and indeed made so the water will reach a persons waist if they stand in them. The water is cold but not overly so. When the water shoots up anyone in them will shoot up also.

They will find themselves in a vortex of water, with anyone else who enters that rockpool. The water itself seems to be fighting them, tendrils of water reaching out of the whirlpool to try and drag them further into the chaos. It takes a whole lot of willpower to stay in the centre, the water can be fought with weapons, even with fists. They feel as if they are falling or flying, perhaps both. Surrounded by the pure chaos of the ocean.

Blue

Hopefully they spend the day helping with preparations because when night falls the monsters emerge from the sea. Terrifying twisted creatures. The villagers only have simple weapons but will tell them that fire is helpful against these water creatures.

Hold off the monsters and keep the people safe.

Purple

The doors close and the train flies off into the sky, flying over the island to the other side where it lands on a rocky bay, near tall towering cliffs.

"Purple team to doors." The doors open, allowing the purple team to disembark before flying off once again.

In the cliff face there is a large cave entrance, over the entrance there are symbols, translated by their SCA's. Clear mind, clear heart. Come those who seek to serve.

There are six people stood by the entrance, looking quite surprised at the new arrivals. One, a woman with silver hair recovers enough to speak first. "Ah. Void warriors. We are honoured by your help."

Once introductions are made the spiritual leaders will happily accept the escort and their adventure can begin.

Orange

They fly up and out across the ocean, a longer flight than before but eventually they descend and there is a slight juddering before they land, floating on the ocean.

"Orange team disembark, please use luggage or dressing carriage doors only."

They will step out onto an inflated platform that streches around the train. Down below are the depths of the water and their SCA's show them at the point of Bui. It is below them so all they need to is dive.

The dive takes a while, and depends on their swimming ability but hopefully with a bit of teamwork they arrive at the silent city of Bui.

Oh god. This is the part where Alice has to look like she's not super awkward about what he's asking from her, huh. And it's not even the burn scars - no, the awkwardness already creeps up on her the moment she realises he's asking her about the zipper. That's way too close to touching someone else's skin, no thanks.

But then she does notice the burn marks. And somehow that is the part that does keep her from just plainly refusing to do anything. Thankfully she manages to mask most of the awkwardness behind her pokerface.

"Sure. Just don't move." She reaches out, being so careful to touch absolutely nothing but the zipper as she starts to pull it up. Probably better to try and make some idle chitchat to keep this from being too awkward, but Alice is just.. so bad at that... Thankfully she remembers talking to him before.

"So, did you end up getting help with learning how to fight?"

If he'd had any idea of how uncomfortable it made her feel, he totally would have asked someone else. But he remained completely oblivious. At least when he was told not to move, he held perfectly still, even if the urge to fidget was strong.

"Thanks."

It took him a moment to place her and remember that they'd talked before, but when he did he perked up a little. "Um. Not yet, still working on it." Honestly, he'd forgotten to ask anyone. Maybe after this mission he'd remember, maybe ask on the internet or whatever the terminals around the train were connected to.

"You're practically asking to get eating by some sea creature."

Not.. exactly the most reassuring thing to tell someone right before heading off on a mission, Alice.. But she's not exactly great at this whole social interactions thing. Or being particularly delicate.

She finishes zipping him up.

"Are you really going out there without knowing how to defend yourself?"
swansongs: (Said a million things but now I know)

"Yeah, I know." He'd been thinking the same thing himself. "I'm pretty good at running, though." It was half joking, half serious. "Seriously though, it's better than trying to swim. I might drown."

Taking a deep breath, he considered things for a moment. "I figure...that if I can still do something to help, and not get anyone hurt, then it's worth the risk. Like, I can help keep an eye out for things, warn others about them." And like he'd said, he was willing to take that risk. He might change his mind when actually faced with a sea monster, but.

The sound Alice makes almost sounds pained. It's just frustrating. How come that there are so many people here who are putting their own life at risk just for the sake of helping out? It feels like she's surrounded by idiots here!

(And yet apparently she still cares enough to try and talk sense into them all the same.)

"If you insist, then absolutely make sure to stay out of harm's way. Move away the moment you see a threat. If you want to be helpful so badly, then make sure to realise a corpse won't help anyone." The words themselves are harsh, yet there's a certain lack of bite to them as Alice says them. Because she's not really angry. Just worried. And she sucks at expressing it.

Dyme was so used to people being frustrated with him that he didn't even bat an eye. For not being able to properly defend himself yet, he sure was keen on charging headfirst into danger, and he was aware that it wasn't always the smartest thing to do.

"I'm gonna do my best to stay out of any kind of harm's way, for sure. I know dying won't help anyone. Besides, if I'm dead, then I can't help anyone, either." Which would seriously impede his desire to be useful.
irrationally: (i just want to know what blurs)

[personal profile] irrationally 2020-05-17 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's hard for a corpse to be very useful, that's true.. But what he's saying is.. at least halfway reasonable. Alice would still really like people as a whole here to be less reckless, but she knows there's nothing she can do to change that. So she'll accept this much.

"Which team are you going with?"
swansongs: (To what I said)

[personal profile] swansongs 2020-05-18 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Blue. I know that's like, directly involved with monsters, but it's better than Orange." At least, right now it was. Even if he could swim, he wouldn't want to go diving into the ocean on some unknown world, where who-knew-what would want/try to eat him, and where they could come from any direction. He didn't like the idea of having nowhere safe to go.

"True. There is not real 'sit back and watch' option."

Despite this train having pulled in people who are completely unused to combat on purpose. It's pretty irksome, really. At least Alice can understand having ended up here, considering her experience with that kind of stuff, but all of these kids, and then even guys like Dyme.. What are they supposed to do here during these missions?

"Although I assume there will be plenty of people on the blue team who do know how to deal with monsters."
swansongs: (To what I said)

[personal profile] swansongs 2020-05-19 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, that's what I'm banking on. I act as the early warning system, and they do the fighting." So he could still work in being useful without getting himself killed, he hoped. He knew he hadn't been completely useless on the last missions, but he wanted to be able to do more.
irrationally: (and set sail for dreamsy)

[personal profile] irrationally 2020-05-19 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Alice slightly nods.

"Good luck with that then." Especially since that sounds like a reasonable enough plan to not get himself killed. Then again, you can never be sure on this train with how reckless some people are..

"Thanks. And good luck to you, too." He wished everyone luck on this mission, and every mission, really. Sometimes it felt like they needed it if they were going to succeed, but that might just be him, not being used to these kinds of things.
