Onward: Blue

On the second night the ground begins to shake. The islanders seem well versed in earthquake safety and there is no mass panic- from them anyways. They will help any voidtreckers who don't know what to do in such a situation. The shaking is over quickly and is not strong enough to do any major damage though there are some after shocks throughout the day.

More worryingly are the thick clouds that roll out, covering the sky. Despite the memories these might invoke in the void warriors they are normal clouds.

Or perhaps not that normal, dawn breaks into darkness, the sun barely penetrating. Shadows are deep and the temperature cooler. It is not too dark to see, more like an endless twilight.

The monsters do not retreat into the sea as dawn comes. Instead they continue their attack into the day, unrelenting.

The seas themselves are rough, large waves crashing down onto the beach. The current is strong, as if the very sea itself is fighting them.

Xion had been surprised when Axel told them that it was their Keyblades not their magic draining them that badly. But she had been too tired to do more than just nod and agree. It had taken all she had to not fall so deeply asleep that they'd be unable to wake her. She did her best to stick with them again, having found... you guessed it... a stick. She was focusing on her fire spells, her thunder spells, and her healing. More and more as the night went into day that was still sort of night she was using her her healing...

Lea was wishing he had some healing magic at the moment. He was busy battling a squid-like monster trying to get a good angle on it that his fire wouldn't be extinguished by the incoming waves. Unfortunately, he wasn't quite far enough away from it as one of its flailing tentacles struck him, sending him sprawling back on the sand.

He managed to roll to his knees and launch a fireball at the creature. It struck home, and was enough to apparently discourage it from coming closer for the moment, but Lea was still winded and half stunned, and struggled to get his feet back under him. He could definitely use an assist right then...

Xion darted in close to him, pressing a hand to his arm. "Curaga!" Then she rushed forward towards the monster to distract it while he caught his breath. "THUNDAGA!"

Lea saw the familiar dark form dart in close, then felt the hand on his arm and the familiar revitalizing tingle of curative magic. Injuries healed themselves and the worst of his fatigue was erased as Lea clambered back to his feet. Meanwhile, the Thundaga struck home, the squid creature letting out a strangle roar of pain and spasming violently.

"Thanks for the save," Lea said as he took up position near Xion. "Really starting to hate squids." Said quid was recovering from its shock and squirming their way for another round. Hopefully this time they could avoid having the thing fall on them.

She glanced to the side to give him a brief smile. "Then let's finish this one off," she said to him before turning to face it again, stick at the ready. It looked like such a pathetic weapon. But she knew he knew better. Just as Roxas would. It wasn't about the stick. It was about the magic.

and the one who was holding the stick, but Xion wouldn't agree with that bit easily, so...

It was definitely about both the magic and the caster, yes. But there would be time for discussing such things when there weren't squid monsters to fight.

"Just what I was thinking," Lea said. Figure a double Firaga'll do the trick." And with that, he formed a large fireball in his hands, giving enough time for Xion to gather her spell too, and fired it off at the squid monster.

She nodded and fired hers off with his. This... These were the best missions, ones where she could work with Axel or Roxas. She didn't know why but there was always something about them, even when she was terrified...

The two Firagas struck almost simultaneously and the squid creature let out a gurgling roar of pain before collapsing to the ground. Thankfully both Lea and Xion had learned their lesson and weren't close enough this time to be pinned under the fallen monster's tentacles. Still, just in case, Lea skirted carefully around the furthest of them as he moved to join Xion.

"Well this whole thing is getting pretty icky," he said. "You holding up alright?"

She looked up at him and nodded. "Just another mission," she said with a small smile. The tone was lightly teasing. "Don't tell me you're getting tired..." she added with a bit more of a grin.

Lea couldn't help but smile back. "Me? Nah," he said. "Though if this keeps up much longer I might need a little break." Or maybe a bit more than a little break. But he wasn't about to admit it.

"Speaking of which, don't forget to take a break yourself if you need to. Compared to our usual missions, this one's a real marathon."

She shook her head. "We've got this. And when we're done, we'll meet up with Roxas for sunset, right?" she asked with a smile.

"That's the plan," Lea said. "But first we've gotta make sure to get the sun back out or we'll never know when that is."

He chuckled slightly. "I meant by putting a stop to whatever's causing this mess to being with," he said. "Something tells me that'll brighten things back up."

"Well I thought it was obvious under the circumstances," Lea said, giving a bit of a shrug. "Anyway, speaking of doing that, we'd better get back to it. You ready for another round?"
nobodys_puppet: (Armed and Ready)

Wrap here?

[personal profile] nobodys_puppet 2020-07-26 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
"You're you," she said with a grin. "You could very well have had some idea for jumping on the clouds to try and actually capture the sun and drag it back or something." Yes, she is teasing.

but she nodded and readied her Keyblade. "Right."
hotheadwarmheart: (Small smile)

Yep. TY for the thread! :)

[personal profile] hotheadwarmheart 2020-07-27 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Lea chuckled slightly. "Fair enough," he said.

He summoned a little fireball in his hand, flashed Xion a bit of a tired grin, then turned back to face the next monster on the beach. Back to work.
