Onward: Blue
On the second night the ground begins to shake. The islanders seem well versed in earthquake safety and there is no mass panic- from them anyways. They will help any voidtreckers who don't know what to do in such a situation. The shaking is over quickly and is not strong enough to do any major damage though there are some after shocks throughout the day.
More worryingly are the thick clouds that roll out, covering the sky. Despite the memories these might invoke in the void warriors they are normal clouds.
Or perhaps not that normal, dawn breaks into darkness, the sun barely penetrating. Shadows are deep and the temperature cooler. It is not too dark to see, more like an endless twilight.
The monsters do not retreat into the sea as dawn comes. Instead they continue their attack into the day, unrelenting.
The seas themselves are rough, large waves crashing down onto the beach. The current is strong, as if the very sea itself is fighting them.

Mami fires a round, then smiles at the unfamiliar face in the seconds she has to spare.
"I'm Mami Tomoe, by the way. Pleased to meet you, even in difficult circumstances."

Then he looked back. He blinked and glanced away for a second, then back. "... Maru." He replied, voice quiet.

Mami is forcing herself forward....she can last a little longer as a normal girl, but the lack of sleep is a problem. She smiles through it.
"Thank you.

"... And if you collapse? Who are you helping then?" He asked with a frown. His intention wasn't to piss off, though most of the time he ended up doing that. But what good was she if she was exhausted? If she took an hour or two now to recharge and come back with more energy, it would be better than forcing herself to fight and ending up crashing for hours and hours because she's exhausted herself.
"Leave it to me. This won't kill me." Even if it ran him down. He would continue to fight. Because unlike the rest of them, he was immortal.

Mami's aim was still precise, but her movements were slower. She stood on shaky legs.
"But...can you survive, even if you're outnumbered?"
no subject
"... I can at least save you some energy." He explained, though didn't look at her when he did. He wondered how Madoka would feel about this. She'd probably be happy, knowing her. But he pushed that thought aside. He could help keep her standing if she was determined to keep fighting.
"... And yes. I can." Because none of the things out there were Servamps like himself. They didn't have the power to kill him.

Mami wasn't sure...but she would do her best, whatever was ahead. And this mysterious young man would too. She just had an odd feeling about it.

"I can carry you..." He explained, not quite looking at the other girl. Yes, he knew how it sounded. But without Madoka he was generally useless himself. But he was fast. And he had some strength to him. If Mami could use her bow without needing to exert herself in other areas, and he could help that, wasn't that a good thing? Madoka would be approve, wouldn't she?

It must have been the exhaustion. She looked just a little awkward as she looked away. How was this happening...?
"If you must. They're still coming."
no subject
But this girl was Madoka's friend. And he wanted to help her. If she allowed him. If not... He slowly straightened. "... Then stay here. I'll stop them."

Maru looked over his shoulder at her, wondering just how to answer that question. "... If you'd like. You don't have to though."
