Onward: Blue

On the second night the ground begins to shake. The islanders seem well versed in earthquake safety and there is no mass panic- from them anyways. They will help any voidtreckers who don't know what to do in such a situation. The shaking is over quickly and is not strong enough to do any major damage though there are some after shocks throughout the day.

More worryingly are the thick clouds that roll out, covering the sky. Despite the memories these might invoke in the void warriors they are normal clouds.

Or perhaps not that normal, dawn breaks into darkness, the sun barely penetrating. Shadows are deep and the temperature cooler. It is not too dark to see, more like an endless twilight.

The monsters do not retreat into the sea as dawn comes. Instead they continue their attack into the day, unrelenting.

The seas themselves are rough, large waves crashing down onto the beach. The current is strong, as if the very sea itself is fighting them.

"Don't know, but I'd like to find it and shove a fireball down its throat about now," Lea said and he proceeded to attempt to do that with the current monster, launching a fireball at its head. While it didn't go down it's throat, it did strike the side of the vaguely turtle-like creature's head leaving that side burned and blackened and the eye on it blinded.

He managed to give her a brief if rather distracted smile before returning his full attention to the battle. "Name's Lea," he said. "Nice to meet ya, though could've wished for better circumstances." Like, any circumstances that didn't involve a seemingly endless supply of sea monsters.

"You're pretty good with that sword," he said as he dodged a slimy flipper that had been aimed at his head. "You do this sort of thing often?"

"Nice to meet you. Though I am sure it could have been better" She said jumping back briefly from a swipe before going in for the attack. She was admittedly doing rather okay, even though she knew that she wasn't Sailor Venus at the moment.

But she shook her head as she just barely avoided another attack that was incoming, having it scrape the wetsuit she was wearing.

"No, this is my first time." She lied, knowing she couldn't be full honest about it. "I guess I am just a master of adapting or something."

Had he not been so preoccupied, Lea might have questioned Minako's story about it being her first time wielding a sword. As it was, he just accepted it for the present, though it might come back to mind later.

"Probably comes in really handy at times like this," Lea said, dodging another attack. "Think you can keep this guy distracted for a minute? I can roast him properly, but I need a chance to gather up the power." He was normally quicker than this with his fireballs, but the battle was wearing on him.

She nodded slightly moving to stand in front.

"Hey you mister crab sticks, over here. I am sure you wanna get your claws into me."

It seemed to work as a claw came swiping at her, causing her to move back just far enough to not be hit. "How long do I need to keep doing this?"

Lea's answer wasn't verbal this time. The moment of distraction had been almost enough and rather than speaking again, he finished gathering the last little bit of energy needed for the large fireball forming in front of his hands before launching it at the monster's side. It ht home and the monster roared in pain before dropping to the sand, its side thoroughly scorched and its breathing shallow. It clearly wasn't getting up again.

Lea meanwhile was taking a moment to catch his breath. "Well... that did it," he said, panting a bit. "One more down, like... a bajillion to go."

"The numbers are pretty high, but the number of people seem seems like an...okay number, I hope." She wasn't even sure if the numbers was even going to go down anytime soon, which worried her slightly. After all people will need breaks now and again to rest up, when could they get that chance or would she have to simply use a free moment or two.

"If only we could find the source."

"It's gotta be somewhere out there," Lea said, gesturing out at the ocean. "Not that that helps us much though. Guess taking care of that is one of the other teams' job."

He gave her a tired smile. "By the way, thanks for the help," he said. "You did pretty good, especially for someone who says they're new at this."

"Always possible." She didn't actually know what the other teams jobs even were to give a certain answer.

"Glad to help, I guess being athletic has it's uses."

"Yeah," he said. "Though even if you are athletic, this whole thing is really pushing it. I mean, talk about a marathon..." He sighed and stretched a bit.

"Anyway, we should probably get back to it. Not like these monsters are gonna take themselves out, after all..."
