Onward: Blue

On the second night the ground begins to shake. The islanders seem well versed in earthquake safety and there is no mass panic- from them anyways. They will help any voidtreckers who don't know what to do in such a situation. The shaking is over quickly and is not strong enough to do any major damage though there are some after shocks throughout the day.

More worryingly are the thick clouds that roll out, covering the sky. Despite the memories these might invoke in the void warriors they are normal clouds.

Or perhaps not that normal, dawn breaks into darkness, the sun barely penetrating. Shadows are deep and the temperature cooler. It is not too dark to see, more like an endless twilight.

The monsters do not retreat into the sea as dawn comes. Instead they continue their attack into the day, unrelenting.

The seas themselves are rough, large waves crashing down onto the beach. The current is strong, as if the very sea itself is fighting them.

"I... ...it can be." Death is normal, after all, and very frightening. More frightening for her now than ever...

Maru, once Ple Two had gotten to her feet, had let go of her hand so that he could shove both into the pockets of his hoodie.

"You'll be alright now...?" He was sure she would be. She was a capable person. Much more than himself.

He wasn't picking her up again at least. "I'm fine. Fine!" she insisted, brushing herself off. "What about you?"

Picking up was only something a very concerned Maru would do. And she was standing on her own two feet so that didn't concern him nearly as much.

"... I'll live." He replied and looked away toward the direction of the sea and the darkening skies. "Probably."

"...we'll all live." Because she said so? "I wouldn't worry about that. Beyond what is... cautious."

Maru just have a low grunt. Why wouldn't he worry about it? The world shaking and now storm clouds blocking out the sun? He thought there was a lot of things to worry about. He wasn't much of a religious person, but it was looking rather biblical out there.

"... I wonder." He did. He would try and keep Madoka and her people safe. But beyond that, he wouldn't be surprised if not everyone returned to the train once the mission was over.

It's just weather. Weather and earthquakes. Probably. Even if there are definitely 'gods' on some worlds, Ple Two would rather worry about things rationally.

Plus the last time someone got a giant, gaping hole in their chest they turned up alive later. "Let's just... keep preparing..."

"Preparing..." Maru nodded. With Ple Two safe he started to walk away back to the barricade. He was rested enough. It was back to fending off the creatures coming out from the waters. Now that the sun was gone he would be able to do what he could for much longer. "... Back to fighting again. What a pain..."
