Onward: Blue
Flood of Monsters
After another night of strange and troubling dreams, the Gry coves are awoken by two of their number hurrying in to report that heavy rain overnight has caused a tunnel to collapse.
Luckily, the Gry all seem to be accounted for. Unluckily, it seems that water is not the only thing that got into the tunnels. It’s not long after that a scrabbling sounds along the entries into the home caverns, and soon after those smaller tunnels are invaded by monsters.
Long-limbed and sharp of claw, the monsters try to fight their way into the main caverns of the Gry.
Draw
Through the next few days and nights the monsters continue to attack. Again, though the first entrance point was the flooded tunnel it seems that the monsters have found their way in via a number of routes, and attacks come from all directions. Unlike the monsters in the Terran tunnels these do not attack opportunistically. Instead, they all converge on the main cavern.
In some ways this makes things easier. One location is a lot easier to defend, after all. If the monsters cannot get through to the cavern they will try to besiege it, trying to dig through the walls. Any that do get into the room try and fight their way through to the back wall with single-minded viciousness.
A Calling
Days pass. The fighting is less intense in the daytime once monsters have been cleared out, and more intense at night when fresh waves enter the tunnels. The dreams don’t stop, if people manage to fall asleep. If anything, the feeling of fear increases for those who are feeling it.
The younger Gry seem most affected, and as the days progress it is not unusual to see one grabbing their spear or sword and storming to the back of the cavern. They are always stopped and calmed by an adult. But their arguments ring clear.
The Burrower is in danger, they cry. It needs them to fight. It is their duty to descend to the Burrower’s realm and become one of their defenders.

He takes a moment to look at Mami, frowning. She seems physically fine, but something seems off... "Oi, y' need a break at all? Watchin' y' earlier, you were pullin' some pretty crazy shit! Feels like it'd take a bunch outta y'."
no subject
She shakes her head and twists her wrist, disappearing in a flash of light and reappearing in the purple jumpsuit. She's holding an egg-shaped gem in her hand now, which was once bright yellow and is now a fair bit cloudier, with a dark cloud inside.
"I need to be careful not to overdo it. At home, I had a way to replenish my magic after a battle...but that's not the case here. I can only hope it restores with time."
She's trying not to sound as panicked about that as she is.

He trails off, staring at the stone. "Huh. Hey uh, maybe Kaseri c'n try somethin'? She's got 'heal pulse', an she c'n heal injuries 'n such..." He doesn't sound sure, but it's worth a try at least. For that reason...the stone just seems weird, for reasons he can't quite place. It almost feels alive.
Katsuya pulls himself out of those thoughts, nodding to his ponyta as it 'cheers'. Her horn is already glowing with anticipation.

Mami glances down at the Ponyta already approaching her hand and nods. The sweet creature seems safe enough, so she allows it...and giggles a little at the sensation. The yellow glows brightly in response.
"You're lucky to have such a wonderful friend. Is there anything she can't do?"
no subject
For now at least, it's being healed. "Far as th' locals can tell, th' big theme so far is jus' fear. Same as us. 'F it's a message, it's one 'f two things. Be scared, or 'I'm scared', and man, you can' fake tha'," he whispers, shaking his head.
"...not like this. 'S too real."
Well. Fear aside, he smiles. "Heh. Tell me abou' it- I dunno what I'd 've done 'f she wasn' here with me now! How's th' stone look though?" he adds, petting Kaseri when the ponyta draws back.

With that said, she snaps her fingers, re-energized. "We need to prepare to go. They need help, and we don't know what we'll face. Jonouchi, do you have a weapon?"
no subject
...
right weapons
"Nyhhhhhh..." He slowly raises two fists. "...I uh...I got these?"
no subject
She's all business now: cheerful, but serious about carrying this out.
"...or maybe brass knuckles will do the trick!"
no subject
Uh-
"A wha- Oh! Y'know, a staff might act'lly be a good idea?" He shrugs, blinking. "Like uh...abou' yay wide around, an 's tall as me?"
no subject
Mami starts to dig through the debris and finds a long stick that's roughly cane-shaped. She snaps her fingers again and yellow ribbons come flying out of her ring, twirling around it and tying themselves down with a pop. When they burst, a solid metal staff hovers between them, mostly a pearly-white color.
There's a tiny pastel purple and green ribbon tied to the end, though. Sorry.
"Here. For you."
no subject
He watches with interest as Mami grabs a stick to begin with, soon forming the staff. "Huh! So 's like...a powered up version 'f th' stick instead 'f jus' th' ribbons this way?" Neat. He ignores the colours, mostly because Kaseri is now very keenly nosing in its direction.
That's cute. He tests the weight, grinning wider. "'S Perfect! Thanks Mami!"
wrap?
Maybe that's a project to do when she gets back to the train. But she needs to focus! She prepares for battle by summoning a few more rifles from the folds of her skirt and nods.
"Any time. Ready?"
Wrap !
The fight is back on!
