It's been pretty useful in some situations.

[ She can't help a slight frown at the mention of a scientist. ]

Hopefully not the 'poke you with a needle' type of scientist.

[That gets a real, proper laugh.] No, I mean, I don't think so. He's more of a weapons guy than a biology one, though he was involved in the experiment on Steve somehow. [He hadn't really gone digging for details, because he'd just escaped the clutches of a mad scientist. He didn't need to hear about more human experimentation, thanks.]

[ Admittedly, she didn't know much about Captain America, other than what her grandfather had told her. But she couldn't bring herself to ask about experimentation either, no matter how curious she was. ]

Not sure if weapons makes it better or worse.

[ She's mostly joking, but she's also known her fair share of people interested in using mutants for weapons. ]

That's fair. Does it help if he was on the Manhattan Project? [He grins at her, he's also not terribly fond of most scientists, but he's had some pretty bad experiences with them.]

[ She blinks, surprised. ]

Oh wow, really?

[ On the one hand, that had been an important step in ending the war. But there were still the repercussions of what weapons like those left behind. ]

[luckybucky]

[Bucky nods.] He's one of the smartest guys I've ever known, and he followed Steve's lead. That makes him one of the good guys in my book.

[ She nods a little; she couldn't say much about everything that happened during that time, but she remembers her grandfather's stories. And if this scientist had been friends with Captain America - even a different version of him - he couldn't be that bad. ]

So how long have you been on the train?

[luckybucky]

A few months. The train's a lot bigger than it was when I was first, uh... kidnapped. [What else was he supposed to call it?] Apparently Tony and Peter are both from the same world I am, but both of them are from farther into the future.

[goingthroughaphase]

[ She blinks a little. ] Really? That can happen too? [ She'd known that people can come from similar but different worlds, but this is the first time she'd heard that people can come from the same world but different points in time. ]

[luckybucky]

I guess so; they've both been pretty convincing and I'm not sure Peter's capable of telling a believable lie. [He flashes a little smile, digging his hands back into the sand and humming in appreciation as he digs up a clam, holding it close for inspection.] Looks like these little guys are gonna be on the menu tonight.

[goingthroughaphase]

[ She can't help a soft giggle. ] Yeah, he doesn't really seem the type, does he?

[ As he pulls up the clam, she just manages to keep from making a face. ]

I'm sure people will be thrilled.

[He laughs warmly.] You don't like 'em either, huh? Well, that just means more for me. [He tosses the innocent clam up in the air and catches it when it falls back down.] Sorry pal, but you're still gonna be dinner tonight. Maybe not quite so many of your friends, though.

Yeah, they're not really my thing. [ Even besides being a vegetarian, shellfish just didn't seem too appealing to her. ] But hey, enjoy your meal.
