Inigo's gaze falls on the marking. Only briefly, like he doesn't want to be rude by staring at it for too long, but long enough to register it. Even though he wouldn't ask where it came from, since it's not exactly like he likes talking about his own scars, he isn't too surprised to see it. Lightning is strong, sure, but who knows what she had to face back home, what caused her to have that over her heart?

Besides, the meaning behind the marking isn't important. Not as important as the words Lightning says, anyway - since those hit right home with Inigo. Like a punch in his gut, only less painful.

".. yes."

He almost sounds a little surprised by how easily she understands. And at the edge of his voice a vulnerability is creeping in for sure.

"I.. never wanted to be like this. But I had no choice."

He's not sure he wants to tell the whole story. He doesn't want to drag Lightning into that mess. But since she's being so open, Inigo feels it'd be unfair to not at least offer this much in return.
