Anyone who has been working to try and make communications happen on their own devices will find those linked in to this network- though it is still only possible to use voice. If they have headphones from the music room they can make it so they work like earpieces.

Hello Inigo... [It's good just to hear his voice, he's worried. Hearing people talking about people disappearing is worrying and there had been that moment, before Inigo answered that he worried...

But he's there, he's talking.]

How is it going?

[ Wow, talk about the one question he doesn't want to answer right now. ]

The mission is going fine so far on our end. Nothing too out of the ordinary. [ Other than people disappearing, but. You know. That's the part he's trying to avoid here. Between everything with Tidus and everything with Gerome, he feels miserable. ]

I hope the same counts for you. Lord Gyousou is still with you, right?

Lord Gyousou is still here, yes.

[He had been so scared, when it been announced that people had disappeared just like that. Even now he is within sight of his king, not wanting to move away from where he can see him, in case he disappears.]

Has... Has anyone disappeared from the purple team?

Yes. [ He can't lie to Taiki. Especially not since he knows the other would find out eventually anyway. Surely at least someone would discuss it over the network at some point. ] Gerome is gone.

[ He doesn't want to linger on it though. Not on what it means for Inigo's heart and mood right now. It's why he doesn't even skip a beat before he speaks on, no matter how heavy his heart feels. ]

So I'm really glad that lord Gyousou is still there with you. Tidus and I, we-- [ Inigo stammers at the difficulty of even just mentioning that name. ] We actually tried explaining to the train how important lord Gyousou is to you, so perhaps it understood and has listened, and now won't take him away from you again. [ It feel so hard to speak, but he has to keep going. ] Please make sure to stay safe together.

Inigo... [He can't even ask if he is alright, because he knows he is not. How could he be? When Gerome was gone like that. His friend from home.]

If it worked... Then maybe we should tell the train not to take anyone away... I'm sorry Inigo... You... Roland is still with you right?

[He hopes so. If he isn't then he will find a way for them to get Inigo to them... Inigo shouldn't be alone. Not now, not ever.]

[ Technically? Roland is still here, he hasn't disappeared. It's just that Inigo himself has been kind of avoiding him by spending more and more time out in the woods, sometimes even refusing to take along a partner by now because he doesn't want to show anyone how miserable he feels.

But Taiki doesn't have to know. It's fine. Inigo deserves this. ]

[Had it only been a couple of weeks ago that they had been on the island? Alright it had been a worrying time in some respects but he had felt... They had been together the three of them, friends.

They are both still his friends and he cares for them so much that his heart aches but Tidus is... Tidus is probably furious with him and has every right to be and Inigo is withdrawing. It's just so much.]

You... You have to take care as well.

[ "We"? It makes Inigo pause for a moment. Well, he supposes it must be Taiki and Gyousou, right? There's no way Tidus is worried about him. He's probably just happy to not have to think about Inigo anymore.

His tone slips. ]

.. It's okay, Taiki. It's.. better if I'm not there.

[ They'd all be fine together, surely. They can comfort each other. He is the only one who needs to be out of the picture. ]

Inigo? [His voice gets even more worried, sharper.]

What do you mean by that? Why would it be better? [It's not better. It's not better at all. They should be together and now he regrets that he didn't insist Inigo came with them.]

I-- I promised Tidus. That I wouldn't bother him this mission.

[ And probably beyond that. Judging by how the other acted when they last saw each other, he figures he really screwed things up with the other forever. ]

And now Gerome is gone too, so.. I'm.. not really a fun person to be around right now in general. [ He laughs, but something about it rings a little hollow. ] I will deal with it by myself.

Huh?

[Less even a word, more a sound of surprise.] You did? Did he ask that of you?

[There's something in his voice, it's not anger. But pain, pain that Tidus would do this to Inigo, pain that Tidus felt he had to push them away because...]

You shouldn't have to, you don't need to.

[ There's a slight surprise noise, but then Inigo speaks up. Quickly. Almost a little too quick, like he's nearly stumbling over his own words in his haste to explain. Taiki may not be sounding angry, but it still feels like Inigo is getting Tidus into trouble here over something that is entirely Inigo's fault. ]

No, he.. he didn't. You know Tidus. He wouldn't.. [ Do something like that. Not to anyone who doesn't deserve it, anyway. ]

I was just.. an idiot. I-I knew we were supposed to leave him alone, but.. I just couldn't.. I thought of how I'd feel if I was feeling that bad and not talking to anyone, and it felt so unbearable to me..

[ The flimsy mask is slipping. There's nothing to see, obviously, but Inigo's voice makes it so obvious that he's started to cry. ]

S-So I still went to talk to him every day. Outside his door. And I should've known that it was annoying and a burden, and I should have stopped, but I was too stupid and I just kept going! So when I finally saw him before we headed out for the mission, he didn't even want to talk with me-- and I knew it was because I've been such a terrible friend who can't even respect the simplest of his wishes. I deserve it. [ He sucks in a shakey breath. ] So I-- I just told him that I wouldn't bother him. That he wouldn't have to hear anything from me anymore this mission. And he nodded, so.. that's what he wanted too. I screwed up a friendship. And it's all my fault!

[ Sure, he only said Tidus wouldn't hear from him anymore this mission, but why would anything change after that? Inigo can't take back what he has done. He really did have a swamp monster on the inside - his ugly, selfish, clingy heart that can't leave people alone even when they want to be. ]

Gerome disappearing like this.. It's probably fate's payback for me being an awful person. I'd just end up hurting you too if I were around you, Taiki. So it's-- it's better that I'm here. Alone. Where I can't hurt anyone.

[ He sucks in a breath, like he's about to say more. But it's just-- ] I.. I have to go.

[ The feed is cut.

Inigo knows. He's a coward, being too scared to face the fact that Taiki will tell him he's right. That he is a terrible friend. Inigo can't bear the thought of hearing that from Taiki of all people, the sweetest person he knows.

So he doesn't. ]

[He listened, listened and didn't interrupt even if he wanted to, even if his heart felt like breaking with every word Inigo says.

It is much the same with Taiki. He had pushed Tidus too far, hadn't respected his wishes and even pushed him to say too much, to tell him things he hadn't wanted to. Inigo wasn't the only person who had messed up his friendship with Tidus.

But Inigo wasn't an awful person, and he shouldn't be alone, he wasn't...

And then he's gone. Taiki instinctively found the name again, going to press it, but... Wasn't this just the same mistake again. Inigo didn't want to talk to him, he had hung up, because Taiki hadn't been able to... do anything, anything at all to help.

It was too much. First Tidus and now Inigo. Taiki brought his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them. He shouldn't have thought he would be any better at making friends here, he had thought... But he was just as bad at being a friend as he was at being a kirin.
