Fierce New World- Mission Start!

"Good Morning passengers. Today is day six of the month of Jelly." The voice echoes through the train as passengers wake up in their beds. Not long afterwards their SCA’s glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.

Preparation and Arrival

They have a short time to prepare for their mission, enough time to read their briefs, make decisions, meet in their teams and gather anything they may need.

A few hours later there is another announcement. "Shortly arriving on System #2207385. All passengers get ready to disembark. Next stop world #2207385. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train judders as it leaves the void, the colours from the windows turn into the blackness of space but quickly white as the train descends into the entrance of the biosphere.

The doors of the train open and passengers can enter the large white-walled holding bay. Currently, they are the only vehicle inside. There are four large doors around the bay each labelled with where they lead. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

The doors open easily, and their SCA’s show a basic route, though the non-linear nature of the sectors mean that obstacles will need to be navigated. While they are in a closed world, there is a day and night cycle: the panels far up above are designed to make it seem like there is a natural sky, brightening and dimming every ten hours.

Red/Summer

Empty Streets

Wide streets divide sealed-off factories and manufacturing pods that tower up towards the ‘sky’. It is hot here, though the fumes from the factories are vented out, leaving the air breathable if overly warm.

Sometimes the pods are not yet finished, empty shells that can be sheltered in. There are also stations for living, with plumbing and basic amenities scattered through the sector. Places to rest as they move towards the center and the Great-Summer that they seek.

Helpmates

Where factories are still being built they will find Helpmates, operating machinery or moving materials.

They will not pause in their tasks for long but are programmed to answer questions so can be drawn into a conversation. Or, if the Voidtreckers are unfortunate, they will find those that are malfunctioning turning on them as they approach.

They aren’t too difficult to fight, but can do some damage with the machinery if they manage to take a Voidtrecker by surprise. They can be fought with weapons or magic, or for those that think to use the panels they can be shut down outright.

Wild Weather

Though warm, the corridors remain a constant temperature that is not too unpleasant for people. For the most part. Unfortunately, due to the malfunctioning state of things routes may become impassable. Boiling air, freezing blasts, electricity crackling across a pathway.

Their SCA’s do a good job of warning them, allowing them to change direction or shelter in nearby buildings.

Purple/Autumn

Exploring

The Autumn sector is the least complete of the sectors, with shells of habitation pods and not much else. No one is expected to live here until nearing the end of construction, and so the pods are unfurnished, many missing doors, some missing internal walls.

Outside the streets are wide and clearly made to be pleasant to walk on; it is airy, bright and spacious, if a bit eerie due to the quiet.

There are panels on the walls, to call Helpmates to appear. Here they are primarily for helping citizens, giving directions and offering aid.

Malfunctions

Since there are more helpmates there is more risk of them malfunctioning. They attack with or without weapons, using any tools they can pick up to attack. They can be fought with weapons or magic, or for those that think to use the panels they can be shut down.

They won’t chase people into the houses, their privacy programming preventing them from doing so.

Turned Around

The roads seem simple, built in a grid pattern around the houses. However, whatever is going wrong here is affecting the very streets themselves. Sometimes there will be a wall where there wasn’t before or roads go in circles. Sometimes they find themselves at a dead end, trapped until structures shift again.

Their SCA’s do their best to keep up but it can take a while for them to reroute and by the time they do, that path might be blocked too!

Blue/Spring

Patchwork Forest

The Spring sector houses the hydroponics and pastoral sections. It alternates between grazing land and more heavily forested areas with rows of pine-like trees in a checkerboard pattern, with empty plots interspersed. Walkways divide each square, but all squares appear able to move about as required, as though on a conveyor system.

There are clear walkways to avoid stepping on any newly growing plants. In the grazing land live flocks of camelid creatures resembling alpacas with blueish wool, on average a metre and a half tall at the shoulders. Helpmates appear here as if on a timer to feed the animals and tend to plants.

Destruction

If the Helpmates here malfunction they attack anyone nearby, cause havoc to any farming equipment and frightening the animals.

They can be fought with weapons or magic, or for those that think to use the panels they can be shut down. The panels here are less obvious than they are in the more urban sectors, low to the ground, looking almost like energy panels. But once they know what to look for they will be able to use them to shut down the Helpmates.

Stampede

Frightened animals are likely to flee and unfortunately in this case it means rampaging across the grazing land to the newly growing trees.

They will need to be calmed, returned to their grazing lands and the plants restored. Or it might be that the Voidtreckers can stop the Helpmates before the creatures get too spooked.

Orange/Winter

Exploring

The Winter sector’s primary concern is life support. Huge banks of air scrubbers form artificial cliffs, while other sections are tanks filled with water in varying stages of processing or recycling.

The paths here are a lot narrower than they are in other areas, sometimes requiring moving between pipes or scrambling over layers of railing.

There doesn’t seem to be any easy or straightforward path through the sector, their SCA takes them on wild winding routes through the machinery.

Help or Hindrance

The fluctuating temperatures here are causing problems with many of the pipes, several sections are flooded, others are in danger of being so.

There are patch kits in easily opened panels, designed to be used by the helpmates and indeed there are many helpmates out.

But some are less helpful, those that are malfunctioning are more likely to cause more damage than they are there to fix. They will attack any one who tries to interfere with them. They can be fought with weapons or magic, or for those that think to use the panels they can be shut down.

Patch Job

Once the malfunctioning Helpmates are dealt with the pipes still need to be fixed. The patch kits do not have any instructions but are simple enough that anyone with a basic knowledge of how to fix things should be able to figure them out- though the more knowledge and expertise they have the better the fix!

For those that don’t, many of the jobs will need more than one person and so for those that don’t mind taking instructions they will find an extra pair of hands is always welcome.

Oh no.

They are stopping. And Inigo already kind of feels it coming before it happens - and he's right on the money. Just as he expected, Tidus starts talking in that tone of voice. The kind of tone that's soft at the edges by Tidus standards, but has so much support in it.

The kind of tone Inigo just doesn't know how to deal with at all, as evidenced from the fact that he looks just about everywhere aside from right at Tidus's face for a moment. His cheeks are red, and by the time his gaze finally meets Tidus's, the look in Inigo's eyes says everything.

He's so weak to that tone. He can't protest as well when Tidus seems to have so much genuine faith in him. Naga knows why anyone would have that much faith in him, but..

"I.. I'm not so sure," he honestly admits, even now. But he doesn't leave it at that. "But if you really think it's that great of an idea, I guess I could try.. You usually don't lead me astray."

It's easy to see how serious and honest he's being right now. Because there's no dumb jokes about Tidus, or about their occasional bickering. It's just what Inigo really thinks, straight from the heart.

".. I think I'm going to need another pep talk when I'm putting them on for the first time though."
blitzcheer: (big smile!!)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-01-31 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
His smile can only widen into a grin as the hesitance doesn't leave, but there's a relenting, conceding as Inigo gives in. A good kind of giving in, and Tidus can't deny that hearing Inigo trust in him makes him happy about it, too. 'You usually don't lead me astray.'

How can he be anything other than giddy then, when Inigo's willing to go all in? Tidus tipping his head and the rows of his teeth visible in that excited jolt as he gives Inigo a light punch on the arm.

"I'll be right outside the door," he promises. "Or I'll help you into it, if you need it. No problem! You're gonna love it so much, you'll wanna cry. I bet on it."

And that he says like a promise, only a pinch of a tease to it. But it's nothing meaning to poke fun at Inigo, but to paint it with words just how moving such an outfit might be. Will Inigo learn to love it? To find it like a second skin? Just how wearing his own official uniform felt to him...

He can't wait.

"Yes, I'm sure I'll want to cry out of embarrassment," he mumbles, like a last protest, but one that is rapidly starting to melt like snow under the afternoon sun that is the giddy smile on Tidus's face.

He rubs his arm - probably more out of said embarrassment, rather than that knock against it really having hurt him in any way, and then shakes his head.

"You really get excited about the oddest things, don't you?" But it doesn't sound like an insult. Or a complaint. It's too warm for that, and a shy smile is starting to dawn on Inigo's face as well now.

Because it means Tidus is invested in him, and that's a hard feeling to not make him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

"I do want to see you wearing your sports uniform here too though one day." In return!!

And not just for horny particular reasons. Also just because it feels like such an important part of Tidus - a part of his friend that Inigo doesn't want to miss out on.
blitzcheer: (and a lifetime with you)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-01 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't get offended about it but chuckles instead, a knowing sound that's the farthest thing from upset. And Tidus might have had a reason to give to Inigo - an explanation to why he's invested in it, pushes as often and annoyingly as he does; how Inigo's passion for dance reminds him of blitzball, of his entire life.

But there isn't a moment, so Tidus just continues to smile. Humming out loud as he takes a step back, meaning to actually face again the direction they were going in.

"Sure, why not? It'll be a mess if I get the last one I wore though. I got dragged into Spira in that one!"

Luckily for Tidus, he has more than one of the same outfit!!

"Buuut, you know, it'd be better if I showed you when we were somewhere with water. Where you could see me too."
flatteries: (somebody said that life isn't fair)

[personal profile] flatteries 2021-02-02 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Somewhere with water? That doesn't sound impossible. They've already been to a few places where they could swim, after all.

.. though this place is just about the furthest from it, huh. As far as the eye can see, it's like an empty, yet technological wasteland. Maybe that means they might get lucky for the next mission and actually end up in a place with water again..

"Just any place where you can swim?"

He knows there's a difference between just swimming and blitzball though, from the things Tidus has said.

"I don't know if we're ever going to run into a world that has a.." Sweet Naga, what was that word Tidus used a few moments ago again? ".. A sphere pool? I haven't seen one before, at least." So if Inigo is going to have to wait for that, he'll never get the chance to properly see Tidus in his uniform! If only blitzball was as easy to do anywhere as dancing, or he would have forced Tidus into so many demonstrations by now in return for the times the other has seen him dance.
blitzcheer: (who asked you!!)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-03 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"You wouldn't be able to see me if you were underwater too." Siiigh. Why can't anyone make his passion easier to indulge in? And let him show his friends how cool blitzball is in action!

Which is reminding him of a conversation earlier in the month, a small mirthful huff leaving him. "Rol said I should ask Gibbs to make a giant sphere in the gym car. Can you imagine it? A giant floating sphere of water? Can you imagine it? Who'll clear it up!"

By the giddiness in his heart as he brings it up, he knows who has ideas about that. But no, Gibbs! Do you understand that water can be messy? You're a water spirit thing!! Of course you don't!!

Despite the conundrum they're facing about how to ever watch Tidus pulling off some hot blitzball action, the conversation doesn't feel too heavy, unable to fully be dragged down by the disappointment. Tidus's light tone helps a lot, really, allowing Inigo to smile a little too.

Especially since he drops a slight, but meaningful pause after Tidus says that last part.

"Well.." Even the way his voice trails off is meaningful. "If it was Roland's suggestion.."

Then it seems they've already got a volunteer for cleaning that whole watery mess up, right! (Is Inigo fully serious about this? Who knows! He sure is smiling though.)

"Surely he'd think it's worth it to see his favourite pro at work!"
blitzcheer: (fluster fluster!)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-04 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
If the implication didn't slot in so well with the last of his musings, Tidus would think Inigo's point to be different: 'If it was Roland's suggestion, then shouldn't you take it seriously?'

Like the papa's boy he thinks Inigo to be. No offence, bro.

Fortunately, that's not where that goes but instead painted is the imagery of Roland with a mop, and Tidus swings his head, grins at Inigo. "Should I tell him that? You're offering him up for cleaning du--oof!"

nevermind, a wall just popped out in front of him and made him stumble back.
flatteries: (if there's a hole in your heart)

[personal profile] flatteries 2021-02-05 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude, bro. Can Inigo help it that he's incredibly fond of Roland, huh? Sure, there are some jokes he could make about Roland that would make him feel terrible (as evidenced by the whole Meeting Incident, really), but this isn't anything that could be seen as personally insulting towards Roland. It's just a joke about him having to clean up the watery mess that Gibbs would surely leave behind, knowing how that higgledy usually gets to work.

But before he can even continue the joke, there's instead that wall suddenly almost being shoved into Tidus's face. It's so comical - something out of a slapstick movie, if Inigo would know what those are - that he lets out a 'pfft' kind of half-choked laugh before concern takes over instead.

"Are you okay?" Got to make sure! Even if that looked funny, it's not like Inigo wants his bro to be hurt. Although he still can't help slipping in a small joke-- "Maybe Roland heard you somewhere."

And he's the evil overlord behind the machinations of these walls! Punishing Tidus for his Roland crimes.
blitzcheer: (/)_(\)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-08 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Why, why him. Tidus backs another unnecessary step away from the evil mass and turns to Inigo, hands cupped over his nose and mouth as a result. Inigo is there having his fun, but Tidus whines low, moaning out in the cavern made by his hands:

"I hit my nose!"

Which probably sounds less clear than that in reality. No great damage has been done, but it feels weird, stinging, and that's even worse! But he must have enough spirits to him when he looks back at the wall, his brow furrowing and with decided teps over, he decides to give it a good ol' kick.

Thump!!

Huff. He drops his hands, the full of his face about what one might imagine when he looks over at Inigo.

"Well? Where now?"
flatteries: (it sort of sounds like you leaving)

[personal profile] flatteries 2021-02-08 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently the hurt to his nose can't be too bad, if Tidus is right back in action only a few moments later. Kicking the wall, even. As if it's magically going to understand its crimes through that act of punishment.

Inigo mostly just silently watches it, but when Tidus asks him that last question, Inigo opts to ignore it for a moment longer.

Just long enough that he can drape his arm across the other's shoulders, leaning a bit closer.

"Hey, you didn't answer." About being okay! Just an explanation of what happened is technically not an answer! So he jokes: "Or do you need me to kiss it better?"
blitzcheer: (pouty times are here)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-08 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't Inigo see that Tidus is enjoying his excuse to sulk over the minor inconveniences in his life? Not that he brushes Inigo off from his shoulders, pouts any less or more for the teasing by his ear. Sulkily answering it in turn:

"You might as well kiss me on the mouth if you're gonna anywhere."

Huff. Tidus touches the end of his nose once, but it's fine really, eyes investigating the wall and then looking back for another pathway. Nothing over his free shoulder, but then he looks over at Inigo, trying to look beyond his head.
flatteries: (to the familiar abuses)

[personal profile] flatteries 2021-02-08 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Inigo should know better than to push this.

He really should. It's not even like it's the first time. No, the first time he did exactly this, he got a whole bowl of popcorn thrown straight over him. Why he thinks it may end better this time is anyone's guess - and it sure doesn't help that he can feel his own heart starting to pound more and more rapidly in his chest - like his brain knows this is all a big, dumb joke, but his heart is somewhere else entirely - as he leans in a little further.

And a little further.

He's so close to Tidus's face right now.

"Should I?"

Inigo definitely sounds like he's trying to be stupidly suave on purpose. Thankfully he got that part of the joke down, no matter what kind of jumps his heart is doing.

Tidus turns his head, coming directly into this face in his. The smooth delivery of Inigo's question, the second it takes Tidus to realise what Inigo is referring to.

There's better ways to react to this. There's ways to react that are reasonable, seasonable, logical. Then there's times where you react and you're not quite sure why you reacted like that, except you did, and now you have to live with that.

The reaction that Tidus goes for is that latter - and that latter is this:
blitzcheer: (UGGGH!!!!)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-08 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
He headbutts Inigo, forehead to forehead, and then has the audacity to throw up his hands and hold his own head.

"Ow!"

That hurts!!!
flatteries: (you look like you've been)

[personal profile] flatteries 2021-02-09 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Almost in near sync with Tidus, Inigo lets out an "ow!!" at the same time. Look at them. Just a pair of idiots, both holding their heads after an entirely unnecessary headbutt, since those lips weren't planning on going near Tidus's at all!

(Then again, who could blame Tidus for thinking they would, when it definitely wouldn't be the first time at this point.)

But no, instead now they'll probably be nursing headaches for the rest of the day.

"What was that for?!" Inigo whines.

As if he doesn't know exactly what that was for.
blitzcheer: (full blast blush bro)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-09 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"What do you think!" Yeah, he's not playing!! And not about to explain how in his head, headbutting his bro seemed like a fairly good response to being teased, the most harmless course of action.

It turns out, their heads are harder than he gives them credit for.

"Ugh, can we get out of here already? I'm looking for Taiki and I'm not leaving him!"

With this declaration Tidus starts walking briskly, in a direction he doesn't know is a good one, but by golly is he going in it!!
flatteries: (there's method in my madness)

Guess who is just stumbling right after him. The ever-loyal little duckling of a friend named Inigo. Even though he's whining with every step, like Tidus just really, really hurt him.

(It does hurt! But Inigo is much more used to pain in general than his current whiny state is giving any credit to. But how else is he supposed to react to this Bro Betrayal?)

"Tidus." One time, and then another, more insistent: "Tiiiiduussss."

Whine, whine. Step, step.

"Tidus, my head huuuurtsss."

Isn't this a fun fun trip to try and find Taiki.
blitzcheer: (pouty times are here)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2021-02-10 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Go ask someone to kiss it better!"

It's two whining teens on different ends of the whining scale, ... or somewhere at the middle and an end. Tidus isn't walking so briskly as to escape Inigo, so as long as he tries, he can catch up to Tidus's speed, whose mocking suggestion is just as sulking as Inigo's own whining is. Not really sincere, but just huffy because he can be.

Yes, this will be a perfect and natural state for Taiki to be gifted his two dumb friends in.
