Dawn Attack

It's been a busy few days of fighting demons, attacking keystones and fighting both on the demon and human planes. On the morning of day nine of the month of Kazoo a gate opens close to the base camp that the two teams have made.

It seems the demons have decided to focus on this unexpected threat, because it is a sizable force, with a number of the large demons. They march towards the camp with single-minded focus, the opportunity to stop these unwanted defenders taking precedence over their desire to destroy the city.

The advantage to the landscape being as ruined as it is, is that there isn't much to stop the lookouts from seeing this force headed towards them. A gate opening is not subtle. There should be enough time to make sure the defenders are ready.

Scouting Ahead

Once that skirmish is won those on the Red team will find their SCA's beeping, with an exclamation point far out to the east.

A group of demons is congregating at the location indicated. Investigate why, defeat the demons and close any gates nearby.

It will take a while to get there and there is plenty to do on the way for those that follow the exclamation point. Roaming packs of demons, gates to be closed. Exhausting work, especially for those going in and out of the demon gates.

Protecting the City

Once it is clear that these defenders are not going to be easy to wipe out, the attacks on the city itself get more frequent. The demons have changed tactics: rather than sending in large groups they open many small portals, sending small strike teams to harry and target individuals.

Some of the attacks are clearly meant as traps: they open the gates in or very close to the city, to lure the Voidtreckers in to where they will be affected by the spell. Ranged attacks may be useful here.

"I don't have any demons at home to deal with." Danny makes a face as he punches away another demon. "Just ghosts, and they wake me up in the middle of the night all the time. Especially the month Skulker decided to try out his ambush attack techniques, until he decided that it wasn't sporting enough."

"How is that any better than daemons?" Prompto asked with a bit of a huff. He's not pronouncing it the same, he's just likening these creatures to the ones he knows.

"Man, who invited these guys?"

"Eh, I know how to deal with ghosts. For one thing, its a lot harder to just shove these demons in a thermos." Danny turns and blasts away another demon.

"And they don't usually do the mass invasion thing." Apart from that time. And that other time. And actually that had been happening more often lately.

"Uh, yeah, I've never tried to get one in anything. They're too big for that. Some of them are as big as houses!" Prompto said with a bit of a laugh, but had to focus a little bit, firing bullets into the legs of two demons, making them fall down. Easier to take them out that way, after all.

"This is kinda what every night is like in Lucis."

"Ghosts can get that big too. But we're also, you know, just basically ghost energy."

Danny twists and sends out a wave of ectoplasm at another group of approaching demons.

"Lucis? That where you're from?"

[chocobosnap]

"I've never met a ghost before...kinda hope we don't have those at home." Prompto admitted. Nothing against Danny, it was just there would be so many of them.

He smiled as he continued to shoot, he could do this all day with infinite bullets. "Yeah, Lucis." He smiled. "That's our country anyway. The world is Eos."

"Eh, from what I've heard I don't think any other worlds have ghosts the same as mine does. Most places they seem to be... quieter?" He punches away another demon. "Less interested in world domination?"

[chocobosnap]

"World domination?" He asked and hummed. "Oh, we have people who want that instead. At least I think that's what the Empire wants."

"In the last few months before I arrived on the train, I had to stop about five different world domination attempts. And they were all different." He sighs. "I'm really starting to wonder when this became my career."

He'd just wanted to be an astronaut. Now he was sixteen, and he already had a nonpaid career.

He chuckled a little bit. "Oh, uh, at least for me I volunteered!" Prompto grinned.

"To protect Noct, I mean, so that kinda comes with a lot of demons."
