The Will to Fight: Ongoing: Red and Purple
Dawn Attack
It's been a busy few days of fighting demons, attacking keystones and fighting both on the demon and human planes. On the morning of day nine of the month of Kazoo a gate opens close to the base camp that the two teams have made.
It seems the demons have decided to focus on this unexpected threat, because it is a sizable force, with a number of the large demons. They march towards the camp with single-minded focus, the opportunity to stop these unwanted defenders taking precedence over their desire to destroy the city.
The advantage to the landscape being as ruined as it is, is that there isn't much to stop the lookouts from seeing this force headed towards them. A gate opening is not subtle. There should be enough time to make sure the defenders are ready.
Scouting Ahead
Once that skirmish is won those on the Red team will find their SCA's beeping, with an exclamation point far out to the east.
A group of demons is congregating at the location indicated. Investigate why, defeat the demons and close any gates nearby.
It will take a while to get there and there is plenty to do on the way for those that follow the exclamation point. Roaming packs of demons, gates to be closed. Exhausting work, especially for those going in and out of the demon gates.
Protecting the City
Once it is clear that these defenders are not going to be easy to wipe out, the attacks on the city itself get more frequent. The demons have changed tactics: rather than sending in large groups they open many small portals, sending small strike teams to harry and target individuals.
Some of the attacks are clearly meant as traps: they open the gates in or very close to the city, to lure the Voidtreckers in to where they will be affected by the spell. Ranged attacks may be useful here.

And if there's more he should worry about his leg right now, Tidus doesn't feel it, a glance at Casper taken to acknowledge his presence, perhaps with something to say. But his eyes dart around them, alert of the battlefield they're still a part of. Someone else has gotten to the demon he had his eyes on, but that doesn't mean there isn't others--to the right, trying to run in with a claw extended, jumping to speed itself up in their direction.
"Casp-!" Tidus yells, pulling back his weapon at the same time. The other might be faster to move than him, is faster in comparison, but Tidus still goes in with a swing that's more automatic than caring about himself. A burst of energy to spin him, a clash to make himself a wall to push back the demon, throwing it on its back. Blue aura following his blade, his upper spin.
But then-- he is with someone with craftier skills to get there first. Or who might be able to deal with the demon once its down.

The spear disappears in a poof of snow, Casper landing neatly on the ground. "Thanks!"

"Any idea how the demons go close to the camp? Aren't people watching those spare portals? They teleporting now?"
He knows something about them being made. Did they get closed already? But also, please don't tell him they can teleport now.

"What about you? How you holding up?" --Hows and whys can come later. The numbers of the demons are trickling, but Casper is fast, Tidus still has his own stamina to spare. "How many can you hit at once if I play bait?"

"Depends on how big they are, but the standard ones I can probably hit three or four in a row? I think."
sorry for the wait!
And he hardly needs to say more when he catches the eyes of a demon some distance from them, but sprinting their way. His blade sparks and glows with an after-effect as he starts to run in its direction, speed in his movements, faster than the average human. He jumps into a role side-ways, dodging the demon leaps too and hits the ground, but both are quick to return on their feet.
"C'mon, ugly!" is shouted over Tidus's shoulder, and whether or not it's needed, the demon is chasing after his back. The battlefield is far from empty, his path on route to a demon teamed up with another attempting to gang up on another passenger, his blade swiping and a black cloud emerging, paralysing it in its movements.
But he's keeping on his feet, not making sure to finish the job. If he can aggravate, direct the attention on him but keep off their tracks, hopefully he'll make them easy pickings for Casper.
no problem!
It's enough to stun them, not kill them, so he forms two spears out of ice and stabs them through the demons' backs. The points come out the other side and they fall, starting to decay as soon as they land. He grins at Tidus, stepping carefully around the demon blood. "What was that black stuff?"
