The Will to Fight: Conclusion

The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

Ken. Why is there a dog with a knife is probably one of Yugi's first questions in his mind. The other is how did anyone be able to train a dog to even do that? Ken... So many questions, but he ain't going to say them out loud.

"Equipment cards are a good thing to have, especially if you don't have any stronger monsters you are able to summon. But if that is your stat to just rely on one card and equipment you'd need cards to prevent the cards from being destroyed."

"So you just have that natural talent then?" Just like how Yugi just has a natural talent when it comes to various games. Being able to learn and quickly understand the game that he is playing. Does it mean he wins all the time? No. Just is good at learning how to play.

"It was an ability they have. I wouldn't call it magic." It was hard to say what exactly it was really. But it was still cool either way.

"But it was something that really helped."

"It sounds like magic to me!" Demyx commented, but he couldn't be sure. He hadn't considered non-magic abilities.

No, I think I am good right now.

[He would rather try and at least sleep by himself. So he gives a slightly awkward laugh.]

But it also means you should really rest yourself.

"That makes sense, they don't really understand much about us so if they react badly, it's understandable." And they didn't have much time to really be able to explain it either.

"But hey you can always help out in other ways"

[flatteries]

"That's right, Tidus! You have to factor in the mutual hug aspect!" Look at Inigo over here, speaking like he's some Master Of Hugs. (Then again, considering the sheer frequency of his hugs, he may as well be just that at this point..)

Not that he lingers long on the topic, instead staring at his rapidly getting less and less full bowl of pasta and thinking before he speaks up again.

"Hopefully it should be fine by tomorrow. Once everyone has showered and all. But until then we'll try to keep ourselves as clean as possible so we can be here with you."

I understand now, that kind of fight is a totally different world. I'll definitely train more before getting caught up again... [ She tries to look upset about that, but the pleasure of the compliment is lingering and ruining it.

Oh well. She discards the act. ] Sis, tell me! Were you born from an egg?

Don't worry. [ She slightly waves a hand. ] I am taking care of myself.

[ Alice did rest during the mission, after all. She's not about to work more than she has to for the mission - and even if she wanted to do more, those demon portals really suck the life out of a person. She's fairly sure it forced just about anyone on the red team to have to rest every now and then. ]

Oh, dammit. She's interested now, he's right. But still.

"Loving each other so much they went against their families and died... That's the worst kind of trash scholars like to write about when they've never met someone themselves. They even killed themselves? Were they too stupid to figure out a way to escape?"

"I think with magic you have to use words right?" She considered hers magic because she has to sing lines, but really doe doesn't actually know much about magic in general.

This was an interesting learning experience.

[He expected that to be honest. Alice to him seemed like the type to actually look after herself when she needs to instead of having to be told like he did now and again.]

Just like you are now. Though with taking care of myself, I should maybe see if I can get something to eat first before resting.

That is something Vegeta can understand and agree with. To have an unknown limit, unsure of where it could go to was exhilarating, to go beyond all barriers that had been placed on you by others and told you couldn't break past them. There was a heavy satisfaction in proving them wrong.

"As long as you continue to want that, I can continue to push you. Just don't complain if it's too much." It's mostly talk. Mostly. Vegeta has no intentions on causing her injury beyond that of sparring, he's not wanting to push her body to a breaking point from it having more energy than it could withstand, but the only way to improve on that was to keep pushing the line until it moved. And he's curious to see just how far she can go with this.

"I don't think so." Demyx shook his head. "I don't say words to use my magic."

He drew some water up out of the spa into a little ball, playing with it a bit.

Allen does eat a lot, doesn't he. ]

I saw some of the townspeople handing out food for our help. [ She gestures with her head in a direction outside of the livestock area she's sitting in. ] Go see if you can get some. I will see you again later on the train, once we depart.

"Sure won't," Cassie says. "I'd be more likely to complain if you went easy on me."

Vice and virtue, that yell is so loud that Devero's hands drop to the batons holstered at his hips. He looks around sharply, as if he expects to see a fresh wave of demons barreling down on their vulnerable camp. But no, there's no demons to be seen, only a woman making her way towards them with determination. A petite woman with blue... hair... yelling Vegeta's name....

Oh sweet virtues it's her isn't it? Trunks's mother.

Devero practically comes to attention as Bulma joins them-- well, joins Vegeta, really. He fumbles his Interface back on and actually backs off a step. Should he go? Maybe he should go and-- and let them have a moment together! Yeah! He's just being conscientious, not skittering away because he's nervous to meet her--

"Clearly they were, if death was the only solution they could think of." Seriously, what sort of terrible situation were they in if they couldn't just run off together or something?

He skims over the page for another second. "All the characters in this speak nothing but nonsense. What's all this talk of biting thumbs? And—" He flips a few pages just to find more gibberish— "Come Lammas-eve at night shall she be fourteen. Susan and she--God rest all Christian souls!--what in the world is a Christian?" Oh no he's getting stuck on the language over the plot...

"You stop!" Now they're just being children, but to be fair, they did this incredibly often. She's fussed over his injuries after a battle a hundred too many times, and after all the tournaments, and cross-time battles, and the lot? She's worn a little thin on checking on Vegeta here. Not that it would stop her from inspecting, of course, pushing bits of armor and undersuit aside from time to time to check.

Once satisfied, of course, she seems to 'come to' in a way, turning to take in the other man and the fact he's backing away now. She kind of assumes it's him giving them space, but also, maybe, that Vegeta's been less than friendly considering his usual grumpy demeanor. So she smiles of course, seeming a bit apologetic.

"Sorry, I was so focused on Vegeta I didn't realize you two were talking." Bulma turns then to Vegeta, brows raised - "If you weren't just grumping, anyway."

There are several 'stop it's at Bulma's fussing, though Vegeta doesn't stop her in doing so, knowing it would only lead to more anger from her and more shouting at him being a pain to her, rather than the other way around. Even a reassurance of, "It's not my blood." Didn't seem to help, and despite his complaining Vegeta goes along with it until Bulma seems satisfied that he was fine. Really, it's just a bit, or a lot, of blood. If he had lost this much he wouldn't be standing here right now...

There's then a huff of annoyance at Bulma's comment about him, even if it was pretty much fitting for how Vegeta normally is, he crossing his arms once she allowed him to move again. "He's one of Trunks' friends." As if that short comment cleared everything up.

Q'uila has excellent sense for the tide of battle and what is a conversation if not a verbal battle? And this is one conversation she cannot see herself winning anytime soon.

"Aye, I suppose though it feels like the mantle does not quite fit correctly." Her ears twitch at Thanatos' semi-stifled yawn and she shoots him a look of concern, "Are you sure you do not wish me to carry you, I could get us back to the train in under a minute from where we are now?"

[She was about to say more about helping more, possibly even teach her some archery as another way to fight from a distance until she's asked if she came from an egg. To which Willow promptly starts laughing, and needs a couple of minutes to collect herself at such a sudden question. Such a correct one at that.]

I was, my people are all born from them! We spend our first 50 years as young birds too, since we have to learn to transform.

[ you fool, Willow, you've fallen for her trap. ] What's it like? Can you turn into other things, or just a human? Do you fight evil creatures?

That's all anyone can ask, kiddo.

[He smiles as her, trying to project reassurance, and reaches up to ruffle her hair if she'll let him.] I feel very good and very proud of what I did, promise.

"Wei Qing," he repeats, hands moving quickly in his lap as he notes that down.

They freeze and he looks up at her, absolutely startled by the question. "Uncle?" he repeats. "I-- er-- that is-- why?" He's absolutely baffled and it shows on his face and in his voice.
