The Will to Fight: Conclusion

The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

All Voidtreckers please return to the Voidtrecker Express. Departure will be in a few hours

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

"Hm?" His head raises to her voice, recognising her on sight, at least better as Blue's comms girl these days than that event. He looks back to the small creatures, one falling flat on its face. ...but picking itself straight back up, a goofy smile still on its face.

"They're..." hm. "Spirits isn't a bad word. Somethin' like...'what if water decided it wanted legs?' That's how they were explained to me."

Aha. He points jabs a thumb at them, looks back as he admits goofily himself, "They're not from my world! But they like helping, they fight and heal, and they know how to make a slide outta water if you ever feel like taking a ride on one!"

It's relevant sometimes. But also, that totally sounds like fun to a kid, right. Right!

"That's a spirit," she's quick to inform him, deadpan. But for someone whose idea of fun back home was splashing around in a river, his description does sound like fun. So they're little pieces of nature, right? She wants to meet one.

She tries not to let it show, but the fact that she trots down the steps to get a better look probably gives her away. "Why are they falling over so much? And how do they make water?"

He hums some to her deduction, an 'Oh yeah?' in nature. Hey, what does he know about spirits?? The array of (two!!) questions she follows up on does get a short laugh from him, though.

"What, don't the spirits you know make stuff appear from nowhere too? 'less you're asking to see it." Is that how he should take this, an offer in his tone? But he doesn't forget the former question, explaining sympathetically, "And you try running 'round playing games with people bigger than you. They've got tiny feet."

They're trying their best, a-Qing.

"Maybe they're not used to having feet at all," she guesses, made bold by his laughter. "Wouldn't it be weird, to be water, and then to have legs?"

She's at the bottom of the steps now, kneeling down and holding out a hand like the higgledies are stray animals, trying to lure one closer. "If they wanted to show me, though, I wouldn't mind!"

"True!" he chirps at her theory, and he wouldn't say it's not bad. Why can't it be the truth? It's nothing Tidus's thought of -- these things can just go inside his chest, or somewhere. Higgledy are far too strange for him to think so hard about.

Tidus slips down a step or two though he gives the girl space, a pair of the tiny higgledy looking her way curious, squiggle eyes in constant motion. It's all the attention they need to waddle over on their tiny legs, squeaking 'higs!' curiously and with fun. They come to her outstretched hand, touch her with stumps for hands that feel like dots of water to the skin.

Hello hello, what can we do for you, young human.

Their touch is too cool and fluid to be ticklish, more like lingering raindrops on her skin; it's a strange feeling, but not bad. She wiggles her fingers, then splays them, touching fingertip to small limb.

Leaning closer, conspiratorial, she asks, "Can you really make a slide out of water?"
