The Will to Fight: Conclusion

The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

All Voidtreckers please return to the Voidtrecker Express. Departure will be in a few hours

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

Hey, if she could just kill things with a special arrow, she wouldn't bother with magic either. Efficiency is key!

"DPS is important," she confides. "If you weren't killing all those demons, I'd be a goner." Like, hello, luggage carriage! Nice to see you again! And all that. Potions though, they definitely won't hurt if she plans on guest-starring in a big climactic battle again after this. If she knows he has some, she'll stick around more!

"But, a fish sorcerer? No wonder we make a pretty good team!"

Maybe she can get more accurate at mass short-range teleports, like his fish guy is...

His only valid excuse this time is that he's never used them in a fight before. And he had the tanks of Martinex and Charlie-27. Both of which soaked damage. Hell, Martinex didn't even have to breathe.

He must have really hated him, the way he made Yondu watch him walk away.

"His name was Krugarr and he was somethin' called a Lem. They could do this snake slither thing on the ground, too, so that's how they usually got around. No legs to speak of." No mouth to speak of either which was its own variety of creepy. Despite everything there's still a ton of fondness for that old wierdass pack of his that he lost. Even now. To be honest he'd probably never shake it.

"He used somethin' called Eldritch magic*, focused on the rune an' symbols part an' such. Did that whole astral projection thing, that reality twistin' thing, I don't even know how to describe it."

[*OOC: Pretty much Dr. Strange's magic.]
kumoko: (hhhmmmmmmm)

today i learned krugarr becomes sorcerer supreme in one universe

Oh, riiiight. This guy's from space! Plenty of aliens. Would it have been better to be reincarnated into that world? Eh, probably about the same. But she's nodding anyway; magic in space sounds even better, even if this Krugarr guy got an even more raw deal than she did on the species pool.

"Yep, sounds like my kinda magic." Wonder if she could still project here? She'd need a link... But she's distracted again, and looks back at him in time that he isn't left hanging. "You had a whole team?"
yondu: (1 7 5)

Yup! Krugarr is crazy strong and funky lookin'

"Yeah... Yeah I did."

He misses them, all of them, and there's no hiding that from his expression. "This big strong guy named Stakar, like one of those big hero stereotypes? He showed up when I was a battle slave. I belonged to this Kree military lord, an' they were fightin' this other side called Xandarians. ...Names ain't so important, I reckon, but Stakar was stealin' a relic from the planet, an' I caught 'im runnin' around in Kree disguise. But he removed this inhibitor thing I had on my neck an'... well, I didn't have much to worry about in the way of my owners after that."

To this day, even after the heartbreak, the rejection, everything, when he thinks of Stakar he thinks of that moment when he saw that value in him.

"Asked me to come along an' be a part of his team, so I said hell yeah. Not like I had nothin' better to do."
kumoko: (arachne - baffled)

he's mine now i love him

That's...

So cool! He's seriously like some gritty space pirate? The slave part's not great, but, hey. A world with technology and magic, wouldn't that be pretty great? Ah, she's jealous. Even if she's kinda in one of those worlds now, so, it's fine?

Her eyes might be getting a little starry as she listens.

"What happened then?"

"We was together about... ten years or so? Did a whole lotta stealin'... which ain't the most noble thing but Stakar, the Starhawk, had this way of fittin' bein' a hero in along the way. We all had our own ships. Had this big guy 'called Charlie-27, heavy-gravity heavy-lifter. Another'n named Martinex. Nearly unbreakable, didn't need to breathe in space. Robot callin' herself mainframe. And Stakar's wife, Aletta, who was-" he makes a huffing noise and shakes his head. Yeah, he absolutely would have wanted in on that if he could. "-She was real good with blades. Then Krugarr, too. An' me, the guy with the arrow."

And then his expression drifts. "I messed it up, made some bad choices. Did somethin' real stupid... real stupid, never figured out how to make it right. But it means I lost ever'body. I think they even broke up after that... I never got over missin' 'em, though."
