The Will to Fight: Conclusion

The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

All Voidtreckers please return to the Voidtrecker Express. Departure will be in a few hours

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

All these people not bothering with ladders, it's kind of funny. Soldat accepts with a nod. "Thanks." A pause. "Nice jump, by the way."

Q'uila grins, "Many thanks, 'tis a skill that I am full proud of. Would you like a helping hand with this?"

"You know anything about construction or roofing?" Soldat asks, motioning for her to settle in if she wants to help. "The answer doesn't have to be yes. I can just have you hold things or hand me things, if you don't."

"I know some, though shipbuilding is more familiar to me but this should be a change from jumping about the city for a bit." She balances easily where Soldat indicates, her tail swaying to keep her level, "So how long have you been on the Train?"

"About a month and a half, now. This was my second mission," Soldat answers, and since they already have the hammer in hand, they just pat the board. "Hold this steady, yeah? I'll nail it in." Once she's got her hands in place, he adds, "You're new, right? I think I saw you on the last platform."

Didn't interact, really, busy dealing with the somebody having a panic attack, but her hair, ears, and tail are hard to mistake.

Q'uila whistles as she adjusts her grip on the board, "Twelve, 'tis not long at all. Is this your first time travelling about the place like this?"

Her ears fold back slightly to muffle the sound of the hammer and huffs out a laugh, "Aye, not my first time travelling but I am new here. I mostly blend in at home but I have certainly come to realise that most people are not quite as colourful as on Hydaelyn."

"Nah, I've done a lot of traveling." They only remember pieces of it, but that's okay, they don't need to remember all the details. "But I'll admit. Where I come from originally. People had to put a lot of time and money into making their hair do that. And nobody had ears like that. Then. The place I was just before the train. We had people with feathers and fur and extra limbs and all that."

"The place I was in prior to this also had quite the diverse range of people, though 'tis half the fun of being roped into these sorts of ventures even if I wish we had been asked first." And onto the next board they go, "What was the previous place you were in like?"

"A dead world," Soldat explains, shifting to put in another nail a little further down. "Everyone there was dead. A spirit. The older spirits tended to get. Different-looking. Extra limbs, longer fingers, odd traits, masks. The Librarian looked like your typical ghost, dressed in lots of layers of sheets. The postmaster looked kind of like a giant crap. Flesh Horse wasn't. Really a horse, but they kind of had a similar shape. And a very long tongue. I had a friend who had an owl's head and talons."

Q'uila blinks slowly at Soldat, that...was certainly an unusual place, one that almost reminded her of the Fae Jaunt in its strangeness.

"That sounds unnerving yet interesting all at once and very different to the place I was at before. I have yet to decide if this whole train business is better."
worthallthis: (thinkingsad)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2021-04-13 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"The train business is. Probably better than Beacon, but we had a goal there, too. I'm a little afraid the things we were supposed to stop there are also chasing the train," Soldat allows, sounding maybe a little worried, but only a little. "What was your last place like?"
dragoonrouge: (Q'uila Disgust)

[personal profile] dragoonrouge 2021-04-14 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Q'uila's nose wrinkles in distaste, "Aside from the lack of space so far and not having all my usual belongings this Train seems better than where I was before. How familiar are you with tarot and Arcana?"
worthallthis: (but i did it)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2021-04-14 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not even a little," Soldat admits, blinking over at her. "And you can get your belongings back. If you're really missing stuff."
dragoonrouge: (Default)

[personal profile] dragoonrouge 2021-04-17 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Worry not, neither was I!" Q'uila is entirely full of faux cheer there, "They are essentially powerful beings who represent different aspects of reality, we were their chess pieces in their friendly competition to shape all the universes in their image."

How pleasant did that sound!

Q'uila's faux cheer becomes a little more genuine at that news, "Good because I have a lot of armour and weapons to reclaim. Or remake if the raw materials would be cheaper."
worthallthis: (startled)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2021-04-17 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
What that sounds like, actually, is a recipe for horror and trauma. Soldat is left staring at her (sans eye contact, but just barely) for a long moment before they recognize she moved on past it. Which means they can, too. They're not sure they want to know anything at all about where she comes from, now.

"Ah. Yeah. Outfits and weapons are pretty expensive. You need to. Well. Need to do stuff. Not really sure what that stuff is, but the more busy you keep yourself, especially on missions. The more points you have after, and that's how you get your stuff back."
