The Will to Fight: Conclusion

The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

All Voidtreckers please return to the Voidtrecker Express. Departure will be in a few hours

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

Don't worry, Piccolo. Madoka doesn't mind the gesture at all. Sure, it seems to catch the girl by surprise for a moment - that much is obvious in the way her eyes momentarily widen, in the way she reaches up to touch her cheek as if to confirm that just really happened - but the moment the initial surprise fades, she just smiles.

After all, to her this is just very much like Piccolo. He's so infinitely kind underneath that stoic exterior!

"I can imagine.." That it's been a long week, that is, she finally says as she returns to their conversation. "But we'll have a lot of time for other stuff once we get back to the train! Then you'll have all the time in the world to.. um.."

Madoka stops for a moment.

What does Piccolo do for fun?

"To.. meditate as much as you want..?"

Is that fun to him. Who knows. Madoka sure doesn't.

If he were the laughing type, he might have laughed out loud at Madoka's hesitance to come up with something he enjoyed and then guessing at the end. It was rather cute, too, but he didn't react outwardly.

"Meditate and train though that's significantly hampered on the train honestly. Meditating does help though."

For both training purposes and also to keep him sane considering how many people were on board the Voidtrecker Express. It was sometimes very loud to Piccolo and mentally exhausting. Usually he only dealt with crowds for short periods, when he was with Goku's family or his other friends when they got together. But he had no choice here. No wilderness to go back home to at the end of the day.

"If you're wondering, it's all I did back home, too."

Which may have sounded lacking or pathetic to anyone not from his world--or even to most people there except the ones he associated with who were also obsessed with such things. He didn't seem to mind, notice, or care.

A brief pause and then he asked her. "Do you need help with anything? Some of these pieces are rather large. I might as well get back to work."

All he did back home? Sure, Madoka thought Piccolo probably meditated a lot back home, but.. having it be all he does? That feels a little wild. There's having a hobby, and then there's overdoing it with said hobby. Don't some people say variety is the spice of life?

Not that Madoka thinks she's able or allowed to criticize Piccolo in any way though. If the other really likes living that way, then she ought to respect that, she thinks..!

Instead the girl tries to focus on what he's asking her, quickly looking around her.

"Ah, w-well.. There are some things that are much too heavy for me to pick up.." She can easily admit that. It's just an objective fact. How could Madoka pick up stuff that's almost bigger than she is? "But only if you're sure! I can imagine the battle must have been tiring.."

And she sure doesn't want to exhaust him.

"It'll be fine. Plenty of time to recuperate on the train."

It was rather boring there. And he couldn't be quite as enthusiastic with his training there as he would like. Even if the train could handle it, the other passengers might still get hurt if he went all out. So he'd have more than enough down time before he could do much that exhausted him.

"Let's get this done and then worry about what's next."

"Okay then..!"

Madoka won't question his answer. After all, it's Piccolo. He's practically the designated Responsible Adult of their team, right? If he wouldn't be able to take care of himself, then who among them would be able to?

Besides, Piccolo can do anything. Doing this much is probably nothing to him, even after that much fighting..

"I think we're almost done with breaking down camp. Some of the bigger tents are just a bit harder for me to take down by myself.." Especially since she's so tiny. She can't even reach the top, please! "Like that one over there."

She points it out - one of the last tents still standing.
