The battles rage loud and ferocious at the gates of the city and off in the ruined wastelands of Erda, and on the walls a struggle of a different kind occurs. The team who stayed behind at the towers are small but determined as they move stoically across the walls to right the stones that have become misaligned, even as their friends battle not too far away.

The city begins to hum. It's a quiet hum, not loud enough to be heard out where the others are fighting but it vibrates even through stone. The recovering monks assure them that it is done, the wards are back up and no demon will be able to enter the city.

Eventually the battle is won, all three battles. The demons fought back and killed, a major blow to their gate system that will keep them back for hopefully a long time. Those waiting in the caverns return to the city and by the time they get there the illusions are gone. Everyone can see the world for what it really is.

But despite the ruins of their world the people are relieved, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through their veins and the mood is one of hope. They will build again, their people will survive.

It has landed not too far from the city, cloaked to make it unnoticeable to the citizens, for all the good that does. No one has been particularly subtle this last week. People can begin regrouping, packing up the camp and getting any wounded not already healed to the train.

However roughly half an hour later another message appears on their SCA.

Passenger Persephone has requested we remain on system System #86525656412355 for an additional day to further assist the people of Erda. The Voidtrecker Express will depart on the morning of Day Fifteen of the month of Kazoo.

The train remains where it is, so the voidtreckers can use its facilities. There is definitely a lot that can be done to assist those of this world and the citizens will welcome any helping hands.

After an extra day they finally depart, returning to the void once more.

(OOC Note: Once the wards are up any characters who are demonic in nature will not be able to enter the city either!)

He had no problem moving and helping at least, as long as he didn't have to know how to do things.

"Like a..heartless?" His brow furrowed. "No, I don't think so." He shook his head. "Heartless aren't really- I mean, they don't have much going on in their heads. They can't think of stuff. They rely on instinct." That instinct just happened to be to rip someone else's heart away from them and steal it for themselves.

"I didn't have much going on in my head, either," Soldat says with a little shrug, lining up a nail while Demyx holds the plank in place, and hammering it down. "I just followed my orders so they'd put me back in storage." It's maybe not exactly the same, but it had been helpful in explaining their time under HYDRA to Sora. "Not exactly the same. But similar. And heartless can recover, too, you know."

"Yeah I know." Demyx chuckled a bit, shrugging. "Nah, you sound more like a Nobody then. Maybe not the same as me, but there were also lesser Nobodies. I used to have minions, you know?"

"You didn't see me a year and a half ago," Soldat says with half a smile. "But I'll admit I've never actually seen either one, until you. I'm only going off of what Sora told me. But I can tell you I was nothing like you are now, back then."

"All of the Nobodies like me have their own personalities and stuff. We, well, we're still linked to our original selves somehow." Demyx knew that much. "The lesser Nobodies just did what we said." He was sort of nice to his, but that probably wasn't the same all around.

"What makes them different from you?" Soldat asks. "What makes them. Just do what you say?" Sora didn't have a lot of details on Nobodies, and frankly Soldat hadn't asked for much either. They'd fastened onto the idea of Heartless pretty quickly, especially since they knew it was possible to recover from being a Heartless.

"You know, I don't know? Just...maybe they didn't keep enough of themselves." Demyx was guessing.

"I'm probably pretty much in the middle. I don't remember who I was but my head still works."

"You've been with them a long time, if your kid-self is right," Soldat says. "There might not be a whole lot to remember, from before. Do people recover from being a Nobody? Do they get their lives back?"

"I was..and then I wasn't. I was back to being...whoever, I think, but again I can't remember." It was a bit abnormal, even for Nobodies, most of them knew who they were.

"Sure." Demyx answered. "If you get your heart back, yeah. Or die. There's a chance you could recomplete if you die, but not if your heart is somewhere it can't get out."

He didn't know. He suspected.

Doesn't really seem that different from a Heartless, in the end. Of course, Soldat has never seen one. Maybe there's something else different about a Heartless. "So somebody has your heart," Soldat surmises. "Which is keeping you from knowing who you are."

"Maybe." Demyx nodded. "It's a guess anyway that that's the barrier, but like, I don't know where it is and they're gone."

He was a bit stuck that way.

"Maybe someday you'll be able to find it," Soldat says. "I found mine. Sort of. I've been remembering who I am, in pieces."

"That would be good." Demyx murmured. "Or maybe it wouldn't. I have no idea, because I don't remember." He said with a bit of a dopey smile.

"I think knowing is always better than not knowing," Soldat offers. "Even if the things you remember aren't great, it's still better to know where you came from." So, head tilted over at him, they say, "I hope you find yours. Or get something back, anyway."
