Wings of Wonder: Comms

Talk to All

Talk to Team

Talk to Individual

For the third option, a list of passengers appears and names can be searched for by letter. Anyone who has been working to try and make communications happen on their own devices will find those linked in to this network- though it is still only possible to use voice. If they have headphones from the music room they can make it so they work like earpieces.

The comms are a bit crackly and can distorted especially if trying to talk over islands but they do work.

Stalactites, that's the word. Stalagmites are the ones people stupidly try tying you to.

( Casual, offhand mention, wee. )

There's a drain if I try flying too fast, but I checked—falling feels odd, there's a sense of resistance by whatever lurks way down where the storm's broiling, but nothing's actively attacking. Have you looked down? There's a storm raging way down here, I'm nowhere near to touching it yet. None of the islands probably do most the time.

Time for an interjection

I recommend not letting curiousity draw you closer to the storm below us. It is a well of powerful, chaotic aether. I can't determine what it would do, but I doubt it would be pleasant.

[Yes maybe it was obvious that Jingyi shouldn't touch the swirling storm below them but they just had an interesting exchange about cave features and Elidibus wasn't going to take chances.]

I can't even say for certain there is anything within or beyond. As far as its concerned, it would be as if this world were solely the islands and its sky.

[Including any other outflung islands, but those aren't really a focus to their mission right now.]

I'm looking to test limits, not to die.

( Because he sure as hell feels that storm as a Big Bad Ugly, and he does not want to fly down far enough to touch it. Which would take doing, as the islands are well clear of it, but he drops down slowly, testing how the feel of the world around him (the air, his energy) saps faster. Not a problem, he hasn't hit any halfway points, let alone those of no return, but he grimaces unseen to realise gravity only pulls them down to harm. )

I don't see anything but storm below. Looking upward, now I have an angle on several of the islands, and I'm seeing shapes flying up there--small ones to the South island, larger ones maybe? Definitely something that catches light up toward the Western island.

Yes, be careful, Jingyi.

Aside from what you see, are there any specific things you perceive? Is there resentment, or any spiritual energy, focused somewhere?

[ Xichen doesn't yet know about aether, but 'powerful and chaotic' sounds like some sort of energy, and Jingyi is the one who might be able to tell. If being in dragon form allows him to sense such, of course, and if he does not need to get too close to sense them. ]

I'm focussing, Zewu-jun...

( he makes a quiet noise of speculation. i'm assuming the sca's are great at cutting out wind noises, or else this is all sounding way more dramatic on his end. )

There're some hints of resentment in the islands, but not anything echoing too fully? Below it's not resentment so much as... Ugh, the closest I can think if chaotic. The energies here are harder to read.

Can you tell if what you're sensing is sentient or more a force or nature?

[She is of course much less familiar with his abilities but has learned to trust other people's feelings]

More force of nature, from what I feel. If we're talking about the storm below?

It may just be a natural phenomenon of this world. If that is all you see it may be wise to return, I trust you to know your own limits.
jingyeets: (dubious | to keep you warm and safe)

It's not about, er, seeing into the storm, exactly... this is tiring, not quite to dangerous though. By now I figure if someone falls over, and spreads themselves out arms and legs to catch some air, for sure the first minute down they're retrievable. Now I'm seeing if we have another minute on top of that.

Pushing oneself is admirable, as long as it is not foolhardy. Another minute is a valuable resource that is only valuable as long as we have those who can utilise it. I advise against lingering once you have your answer.

Wangji is right. If there is little outside of the storm itself to see, then it is better to return at that point.
